haha true that. guess I will take my time and learn it up slowly, the hard part is the speed, let me slow everything down by 50-100%, I am sure I can play it

then gradually increase my playing speed
*
Speed would not be a big problem.
Like you did, play slowly, in a speed where you do not have to pause in between bars or phrases (important!)
Play using a metronome to make sure your timing is exact laugh.gif

nay, when i ply slow i think too much, its my finger curve enuf, atticulate enuf, is my hand relax etc etc. too much on my mind until like that. unsure.gif

but when i play fast,im enjoying myself, enjoying the music, and loving evey moment of it, so no tension and the fingers are relax.

Wow thanks! It happens that I was looking for some anime/movie for some inspiration.
I will definitely watch it! Too bad I don't have Astro. I guess I'll have to tor-*cough*-rent it tongue.gif

I just got my hands on Nodame Cantabile today, its on 8tv before but I missed it.
Its about a guy who plays the piano by reading score paired with a girl, which is totally opposite, who plays by ear.

Other good recommended video:
Mr. Holland's Opus

See how a composer struggles to teach his students music, how he become a good dedicated teacher in the end.
Also, how he solves students having problem learning music / playing instruments.

Another China movie about a boy who can play Violin:
"Together"
I watch this once on Astro with English Voice Sub.
The boy plays by his heart and feelings, while another girl who can play very well but just doesn't have it.

I can't find these 2 video at our local stores.

I'm new in the CLANS of Piano. I started learning since 5 years old and got my Dip LCM at 19 years old. After that I went to Melaka to further my studies in IT which I rarely practice/maintain my skill at the dip level. Now, after 3 ears graduated from Uni, I started to play back my piano.

I'm currently teaching Piano at Bandar Mahkota Cheras and most of my students are beginner. Sometimes, the school will dump very very young kids to me as young as 4 years old. SOmetimes, the school will dump a student who wants to learn POP song.

So, have to learn to be flexible in your teaching because what the school bother is to GRAB more student regardless whether the student actually can follow the lesson or not.

i played since young too, but have stoped during SPM @ grade 8.

NOW i am all RUSTY! Cant even sight read a simple grade 5 piece. sad.gif

feel so useless.

And the piano that i brought up to KL with me, is all out of tune and some keys just dont work.

What should i do? Continue this as a hobby? tune up the piano and all? would cost quite a bomb right? considering the situation that my piano is in now?

Or should i just give up for good? sigh

MayWong, tuning up piano cost roughly RM120 only. You can start picking up your skill by playing the pop songs which are normally easier than those classical pieces i believe. It is such a waste to stop just like that because u're a pro already! U've got a grade 8 certificate, my dear.

hehe....if u're teaching at the centre. They will pay u very little. For example:

x is the student fee

The fee that u earn is actually:

((x - 15) * 55%)

my piano teacher doesn't even have degree/highest diploma, and he's getting payment higher than that.

does cert matter? moreover, does having the cert has anything to do with ability to teach? unsure.gif

regarding the payment, it'll be OK if the center has very good facilities and beginner fees are starting from RM90. if it's not, a little hak pok i'd say.

well, he/she just graduated from uni, so he/she is 17+2+3, 22 years old ma, so how to ask banyak banyak.

having a degree/diploma have nothing to do with teaching, BUT it has to do with the amount of knowledge the teacher learned during the process when he/she studied in the university. example, whats the diffrent between a person who studied in julliard, and a person who hasnt?

well, the person who studied in julliard has way more knowlegde and understanding of music and dynamics and is ready to pass on the knowledge to the student.

having a diploma/degree has nothing to do with teaching, but it has something to do with having more knowledge to pass on when teaching.

you missed the point. even you have the knowledge, will you be able to pass it through the next generation if you don't have the ability to teach? do you think every student is the same plain white paper made from the same material?

also do you know that degree holder especially master and above normally won't teach in music center?

and finally, it's not that the she's asking a lot, the fees the center pay is below average, a.k.a underpaid, at least compared to KL/Selangor area. i don't have much clue how much is the average pay there, though.
