Hi, Planning to subscribe to Maxis Broadband..
really interested with Maxis Bundled Package..
RM48/month... How about the modem? Is that they will give USB Stick modem or other type of modem.., I mean modem that looks like WiFi Router..?

I need to use data everyday on my phone. Found the Mobile Internet RM58/month but only EDGE speed at 460kbps only.

Want to ask for the wireless broadband RM58/month plan

1. Can I insert the sim card on my phone and use voice call + broadband?

Or I must insert the sim card into the Maxis Modem????? I need both voice call and internet!!

460kbps is not edge speed

Where to find the new firmware?
Any improvement on the performance of the modem?

& it never fails me:)

Subscribed it on Maxis Centre in Taiping...
Need to pay RM188 to them and they said free for 2 months and no contract for customer...
Monthly charge is RM48 and will only starting on May 2010...

Currently feels satisfied with their speed.., and 2GB FUP seems reasonable for me..,
I only used my Maxis BB for e-mail, forum, and search information for my assignment.
My main Broadband was still Streamyx

My area only have 3G coverage.., but why the speed is more than 384Kbps... 3G should 384Kbps maximum, isn't it??

Just apply the bundle package home value @RM48 / 2GB, back to home can straight away can use already.
Actually i will keep the ZTE modem ( big modem free by them ) in drawer and use my own USB modem + Aztech wifi 3G router
In this method i will save more money.
RM118 upfront, no need to pay for 1st & 2nd month, 3rd month pay RM48.
Then login to account portal, top up for 1GB ( FREE 1GB until 28 FEB )
That mean this month can get 3GB.
speedtest at 11st floor.



Better than apply "no device package", Advanced lite @ RM68, also 2GB.

Tested 2 day using my hotlink, can get better speed than digi, so i will terminate digi bb tomorrow.
Last time digi no problem for me for beginning. ( Aug ). But now since many user apply for it, so i feel the speed getting slower.
The main point is, i must use broadband to upload some files to my website, but digi bb not able to provide good upload for me even small file. ( only happen these 2 months )
But celcom, maxis can upload even the speedtest for upload low.
Actually digi can give 800kpbs average, very stable, but my own website seen not able to use digi for upload files.

2GB is enough for me, if not just top up 1GB @RM28
or buy a prepaid and go for 2GB/1 week @RM25 ( cheaper ), after use, can buang.

maybe now many user scare about maxis, so not many people use maxis bb now.
3 months ago use my hotlink to test 1 hour pass, speed very slow.
Look like now maxis upgrade their service. At least no contract, can terminate if 2 to 3 month, no worry.

I've been dying hoping that maxis would allow me to use the broadband data on my phone's SIM as well, but unfortunately, business is business. maxis wouldn't allow.

you can insert the broadband sim onto phone and set the APN to maxisbb to use it, but you wouldn't be able to make voice calls.

didn't notice any performance improvement. Download speed is still pretty much the same, hitting the ceiling at 2Mbps at good signal area.
like i said, the only thing i notice is the annoying loading page is now changed to www.mylaunchpad.com instead of the old maxis.com.my/maxisbb

the modem also different from what you got from them... I got Huawei E220 USB modem that Maxis Broadband logo appears on it...

no, that 1 you are saying is different with mine.
Mine is Home Value, ZTE MF600 ( big modem, not USB modem ). RM118 upfront, free for 1st 2 months.

I got my own modem. So no need to get USB modem any more.

Actually base on calculation, you will RM68 for 2nd month onward, untill forever.
But mine paying RM48 for 3rd month onwards.
Actually you should buy modem outside which is only cost RM160-RM200 Huawei latest model modem.
If long term, i still pay less than your package now.

RM118 upfront
RM48 x 10
Buy own modem - RM180
TOTAL : RM778

mobile value - 1 year
RM188 upfront
RM68 x 11
TOTAL : RM936
after 1 year, you will pay more and more than me.

wow, see the different, you should calculate first before you subscribe. Anyway not every dealer running this promotion ( Home Value )

really its fails me alot...

i used to had quite a bit problem with maxis last month. but after i changed the modem setting to manual search and register for maxis network, and set the network type to "WCDMA only", it works like a charm since then.

edit:
i keep failing to login to maxisbb portal. getting an error message "user AD authenticating failed", anyone has the same thing?

Maxis isn't that great correct.
After the limit policy has apply, maxis is a kind one, they give me free for the broadband at all, 3GB bundle de.
Free modem that one, but of course la limit really headache for me, whenever I can't surf, I will just buy another gb to another.

BUT NOW, I REALIZE I CAN SURF AFTER THE LIMIT!!!
No trick, not glitch, not exploit, not anything else, just don't know why.
You see, now I exceed the bandwitdh limit by 10 GB.
Yep, 13 GB for the total, if you wany proof, I can upload.
But lazy only.
MAXIS ROCKS, for me only T.T
