i've been very tempted by the maxis year end promotion lately. Then being their OneClub member, they sent me another promotion:

FOC E1762 HSPA modem
Free 4 months WBB
RM38 on 5th months onward (1.5GB quota)
RM58 on 5th months onward (3GB quota)
No contract

Prepayment RM180, will be refunded into my maxis phone bill from 1st month onward.

Basically if i cancel after 6 months at which the RM180 is fully refunded, i get everything for free, plus paying RM16 for the 5th and 6th month usage. Ok, i'm sold.

But if you terminate the package after 6 months, although maxis rebate RM180 to you already but you still have to pay another RM200 handling fees because your termination not more than a year.
*
i have called and asked and double confirmed.
i can terminate right after i subscribe and gotten the modem and no charges will be imposed on me (other than the RM180 reimbursement will be burnt)

but anyway, maxis CS always has inconsistent answer. i'll confirm this at maxis centre when i subscribe later next week.

My friend , maxis one club member got a better offer

1. 4 months free
2. 38/month
3. probably 1 year contract
4. RM180 upfront to get free modem, to be rebated 30/month (when i don't know)

Thinking of signing for this offer.

But i don't like the T&C, it says the offer is valid AS LONG AS the user remains Maxis One Club member to be evaluated every year... sounds fishy right?
*
there is several tier of maxis one club membership. AFAIK, to maintain the one club membership, u need to spend as much as what u spending now, with no late payment record. The higher u spend, the more higher ur membership rank i guess.
so to keep your One Club membership alive, just continue to spend more doh.gif

for those who keep asking for offer information, let me try to summarize for you :

Newly signed up maxis postpaid user (value 50 and above) enjoy :

1) Free first 2 months of Maxis WBB
2) Purchase E1762 HSPA 7.2Mbps modem for RM180
3) Pay RM58 for 1.5GB / RM 78 for 3GB data from 3rd months onwards (additional RM10 discount for direct debit)

Existing Maxis postpaid user who spent more than RM50 per month for past 6 months enjoy :

1) Free first 2 months of Maxis WBB
2) Free E1762 HSPA 7.2Mbps modem (RM180 upfront payment required, will be reimbursed during next 6 bills at RM30 per month)
3) Pay RM48 for 1.5GB / RM68 for 3GB data from 3rd months onwards

Maxis OneClub member and lucky soul who gotten SMS/calls from maxis :

1) Free 4 months of Maxis WBB
2) Free E1762 HSPA 7.2Mbps modem (RM180 upfront payment required, will be reimbursed during next 6 bills at RM30 per month)
3) pay RM38 for 1.5GB / RM58 for 3GB data from 5th months onwards

FAQ :

Q: What is the speed of this package
A: depends on coverage. This is a bandwidth quota based capping package, so there will be no speed capping if you're within the said data quota. If you're within HSDPA coverage, you'll get a theoretical maximum 7.2Mbps speed, within 3G coverage will be 384kbps max, within GPRS will be about 100kbps and so on.

Q: How long do i have to attached to this service (contract)
A: No minimum subscription, no contract, nothing. Terminate anytime you like.

Q: What if i terminate early, any charges?
A: if you terminate before the RM180 of modem cost is fully reimbursed, the reimbursement will be burnt. Besides that, no additional cost.

Q: Is there any hidden charges besides the one stated above?
A: Handling fees, activation fees, blood sucking fees is all waived by maxis. Pay only the monthly fees after ur 2 or 4 months free period ended.

Q: When does this offer ends
A: 31 December 2009

I think you should double check with this, because i called maxis they told that if terminate not more than 12 months, need to pay for RM200 handling fees.
*
following your earlier post, i called twice to the customer service and i was again confirmed there is no RM200 handling fees. Also, refer to post 2530, numbertwo who already signed up for the service confirmed this as well.

QUOTE(numbertwo @ Dec 11 2009, 02:00 PM)

Confirmed, there is no cancellation or termination fees of RM200..  In the printed contract after I signed up the package I can see the penalty fees of RM200 should I discontinue the service , but this is only applicable to packages running on 'contractual' basis.  And this clause has been crossed out in my contract form..

So, no worry guys, go ahead and njoy the 2 mths free surfing on-the-go!

from what i observe ...

u all too obsess with M and C  VOICE line Serv ... u all need to Understand this u are using thier DATA Network. Yes M and C is famous for it Voice line serv ... but come to Wireless Broadband thing ... too Famous is not a good thing means in future maybe within one year TOO MUCH user ... then u bad dream happen ... Wireless Broadband is sharing basis ... so means as the number of user growth and the telco do nothing to upgrade then u all STUCK can connect but transmit and receive DATA at super LOW Speed ...

i here not bias or related to any of the Telco ... this is my personal Experience ...

u all should look for alternative like Digi Broadband
YES we know 3G coverage is limited for DIGI but the EDGE network is far more stable then any operator in Malaysia i assure u
i personally Stream Online Radio on EDGE for 3 days non stop ... NO DISCCONECTION AT ALL ... ( Bentong Pahang)
wat i observe is DIGI is Far less user for both voice line not need to said DTA line loohhh...
i not need to "share off" my speed at least with others user ...

I do agreed that over selling bandwidth is a major problem we face with our ISP in Malaysia. But however, it has nothing to do with subscriber amount, it is more of a business ethic. Why don't NTT in japan faces similar problem when they have subscriber base far larger than any ISP in Malaysia? If you have large enough bandwidth backbone as support, subscriber amount will never be a problem.

On the other hand, if you do not have a steady subscriber base, it is only a matter of time before you collapse. Look at promises made by izzi and U-mobile the day they were launched, and how they are today, i bet they even have lesser subscriber than Digi does.

lastly, please go and learn proper English before you decide to stamp your fanboy sign on other thread.

QUOTE(+ @ Dec 13 2009, 01:10 PM)
does a heavy user have to pay more if he exceed the 1.5/3GB package?
if yes what's the maximum amount for that?
*
nope, maxis will cap your speed to 64kbps but according one of the CS, the capping will only kick in if you use it excessively.

looking at the bright side, if they documenting everything accordingly, then capping after the limit will become a necessity.

on the other hand, without proper documenting, they might handle the capping based on network capacity and implement the capping leniently

is this info correct?
Prepaid will be charges for extra usage while for postpaid the speed will only be throttled?
*
for those accessing using maxis mobile sim card (aka mobile internet), you will be charged per kB after the said quota.

for those accessing using broadband data only sim card with fixed monthly subscription, no extra charges, only your speed will be throttled.

can anyone clarify the differences between different maxis APN and what effect does these APN brings?
i've seen and i assume:

UNET - seems like used for maxis 3G on phone, for MMS, video call etc.
maxisbb - for those under maxis broadband
bbnet - unsure...for prepaid broaband?

i signed up today for the RM38 package at maxis centre time square. It took half an hour for the lady to click and print here and there to subscribe this BB package. Extremely inefficient.

My broadband is activated few hours later.

Did a speedtest at my home in cyberjaya with full bar HSDPA, only get 2mbps

just now did the test in sunway area with HSPA 4 bars, fluctuating between 2mbps to 5mbps, but unable to complete upload test -.-"

I also just signed up for the maxis bonanza promotion today. Actually wanted to do at Times Square maxis center but the service there is slow and sucks so end up subscribing at low yat plaza.

Actually I only wanted the Huawei E1762 modem for RM180. Not really need maxis broadband because I already subscribe to maxis 3G mobile internet package. I will terminate the broadband after the free two months and hopefully there will be no extra charge or penalty fees for the termination.
*
i'm subscribing to the one club package and it can only be done at maxis centre. I went to pavillion's maxis centre last week but they ran out of modem stock.

I can say that this maxis E1762 modem is good. Can automatic re connect. Can set the limit and other settings. Definitely worth the RM180. smile.gif
*
i never used other wireless modem before, but during my 3 days testing period, the modem never failed me. thumbup.gif
The only thing i don't like is that when my laptop connection is idle, the connection will be like automatically put into sleep mode.
When i fire up my browser, it takes about 5 seconds to start working. Probably something common in wireless connection to save power?

The sales person also ask me to take 3GB instead of 1.5GB since it's free.  blink.gif
by the way, somehow maxis sent me some stuff over and i'm now maxis one club member. wander whether i can subscribe another maxis broadband line under my name. wanna get another modem.
*
i remember i read somewhere in T&C that this FOC modem promotion is only 1 modem per account. But just check and see, no harm.
On the other hand...Maxis is on trial of 15Mbps HSPA+

nah...nothing to shout about. it's just a sudden burst of speed. if you test again, you can't get that results anymore.  tongue.gif
*
that is quite an impressive burst tongue.gif

QUOTE(cruxidex @ Dec 27 2009, 12:53 AM)
its the network that our modem use...
if u see you are connected to HSDPA your upload usually below 100kbps
if u see you are connected to HSPA your upload speed usually 150-1000kbps

some places maxis has already upgrade to HSPA.
another diff is the ping time... HSPA usually 70-100ms while HSDPA usually 120-300ms
*
My HSPA upload mostly stuck at around 0.05Mbps (50kbps). And i don't think HSPA or HSDPA has anything to do with ping latency.

I don't understand how it's work actually. Cannot see the content but data still count right. Then how come can by pass it? Doesn't it already no data allowed already after it's capped?
*
data is allowed just that it is being filtered and redirected.
using tunneling software, it bypass the maxis filter. But since data is still flowing, it still counts.
