if out of 3G coverage, the speed will be downgraded to EDGE speed .
it is not too bad considering average speed for celcom BB (i use celcomBB if going out of town) is about 200kbps which is more or less like digi EDGE speed.

Amazing, today a technical level 2 support personnel (So called supervisor) finally replied my queries on why I'm getting 12kbits/sec speed, he told me that according to his knowledge, they implemented a new cap to 16kbps after 5gb of traffic in this month. Is this bullshit or is he actually telling the truth? Either way, 12kbps is not enough speed to let me even load google search pages, much less anything else. Can I complain to any consumer helplines about this? I want to disconnect this shit if they can't even give me the capped speed of 64kbps. And for sure as heck I don't want to pay the RM200 handling fees for the fact that it's them throttling my line to 12kbps int he first place.

I face a similar problem previously and here is how I avoided the RM 200 termination fee:

Don't worry, I work for a Customer Service for a singaporean ISP (Of sorts) before, I know exactly how to be irate to get things done. Just wondering whether there's any way for me to legitly do it until they can't have a second word in like how earlier in the year someone got a rep from some tribunal to write a letter in.

Thanks a lot for the information. tongue.gif

the policy can be updated by they need to give u an official letter~

the RM200 is no joke as well but feel free to write in if Maxis is changing policy and not informing you and at the same time, not providing u with a written notice~

Hmm..
1st u need to check whether ur modem is unlocked or not
2nd are u using mobile partner or something similar to mobile partner
If yes,
Go to menu Tools then Options
Select Profile Management
Click New button, and enter Maxis as profile name
On the APN, select Static option and type in maxisbb
For the username is maxis and the password is wap
Click Save button
Click Set Default button
Finish. biggrin.gif

Thx for correction from ibnuasad
