thought this would be interesting to ask if anyone else is facing the same problem.
I have been using the weekly package (RM25) from maxis prepaid broadband since 3 weeks ago. Prior to last friday; i was able to connect using the APN: unet and surfing from my pda phone is excellent. Last friday when i renewed my subscription for another week; i can’t log in at all as it keep on saying the modem disconnect my connection. After checking with maxis customer care, they told me i must change APN to "bbnet". Ok, i done that but still i was not able to connect to internet using my HTC hermes. I have been calling maxis customer care since then and non of them were able to rectify my problems. One strange thing i noted is that if i put the sim card into my usb HSDPA modem, it works flawlessly when surfing from my netbook. So i called up Maxis broadband care again today. To my surprise; they told me mobile prepaid broadband can only be use in PC by either connecting through a USB HSDPA modem or by using pda phone (or any 3G phone) as a modem. If i wanted to surf internet from pda phone itself, i must use mobile internet package and settings. Did the customer care skrew this up or this is the fact that i missed. This is really bad as compare with celcom prepaid broadband where there is no issue on this at all. I can put my celcom broadband sim in my pda phone and connect to internet. Can i just check if anyone else is facing the similar problem? I am currently asking for refund from maxis. |

QUOTE(Yuki Ijuin @ Oct 20 2009, 09:44 PM) Amazing, today a technical level 2 support personnel (So called supervisor) finally replied my queries on why I'm getting 12kbits/sec speed, he told me that according to his knowledge, they implemented a new cap to 16kbps after 5gb of traffic in this month. Is this bullshit or is he actually telling the truth? Either way, 12kbps is not enough speed to let me even load google search pages, much less anything else. Can I complain to any consumer helplines about this? I want to disconnect this shit if they can't even give me the capped speed of 64kbps. And for sure as heck I don't want to pay the RM200 handling fees for the fact that it's them throttling my line to 12kbps int he first place. are you sure you are getting 12kbps? (as in kilobits). assuming what you say is correct, your dl speed when shown in the Windows download would be 1.5kB/s (kiloByte), which, is insanely slow. I've been shitted by Maxis b4 (and still is) with their ridiculous speedcaps, but as far as I know the cap is still 64kbps, which equals 8kB/s averagely. (just to confirm, speedtest.net will show a result of 0.06mbps for dl/up)i totally support you if you want to file a complain, but do make sure you have the right facts and solid numbers to back yr claims. otherwise it'd be rather embarassing. just a concern since alot of forumers are not aware of the small b and big B. and as much as i hate maxis for their lousy T&C, i doubt they will dare to screw with the consumers as to speed cap down to an insane 12kbps. thats not even narrowband. rmb 56k modem? thats 56kbps. |

Most of their tech support and customer service doesn't understand what's 12kilobits as well. This has been going on for more than 20 days now, I'm just waiting for their cust support to screw up for a backdated disconnection.i totally support you if you want to file a complain, but do make sure you have the right facts and solid numbers to back yr claims. otherwise it'd be rather embarassing. just a concern since alot of forumers are not aware of the small b and big B. and as much as i hate maxis for their lousy T&C, i doubt they will dare to screw with the consumers as to speed cap down to an insane 12kbps. thats not even narrowband. rmb 56k modem? thats 56kbps. |

QUOTE(mytown @ Oct 28 2009, 09:28 AM) thought this would be interesting to ask if anyone else is facing the same problem. i did face similar problems. i'm a hotlink susbscriber with Nokia 6230i and 3G activated and also using unet as APN. Also a maxis BB subs too. I have been using the weekly package (RM25) from maxis prepaid broadband since 3 weeks ago. Prior to last friday; i was able to connect using the APN: unet and surfing from my pda phone is excellent. Can i just check if anyone else is facing the similar problem? I am currently asking for refund from maxis. Maxis BB capped, so use my hotlink SIM and put in my B932 Huawei modem then subscribe to 1 day Prepaid BBand. Create another profile in B932 and set APN to bbnet. After finish using Prepaid Broadband, put my SIM back to my phone. Then cannot surf using my phone with Opera Mini or using built-in WAP browser. Cannot even connect to GPRS. Called CS and she ask me to deactivate 3G and activate GPRS only. Only then can surf after using MAxis 2G settings. yesterday, activate 3G back using *136# and use MAxis 3G settings, i can surf back using Opera Mini. Really weird. looks like the SIM was locked as a PP BB if activated like that. Next time need to use Mobile broadband and not Prepaid broadband. Also need to use unet as APN in my modem too if i subs to Mobile BBand. |

For the ongoing case. I'm still getting 12kbps. Customer Service now spinning the story that my usage increased from 6gb in May to 20gb (in a month) in Sept. I don't even know how is 20gb possible when they cap you after 3gb.
Still doesn't justify denying me my internet when I've paid. When did their fair usage policy say anything about making your internet so slow that it doesn't even work? Eddie: It seems like they're intent on screwing with me. I intend to screw right back. Anybody with places I can go to complain about this? |
