high clock + high Vcore = hot
High clock + high Vcore + Stock cooler = Damn hot

Added on March 16, 2008, 4:44 pmof course 4000+ is cooler since its use lower vcore and 65nm SOL process somemore compared to 6000+ which is 90nm proc.
and also it uses 130++watt (forgot exact wattage)...
which is most of other brisbane or windsor proc only using either 60watt or 89watt...

disagree with d bold part.

stock speed @ stock voltage is cooler than oced speed @ stock voltage.

not so sure about that. its actually based on my experience. ocing my proc to 2.4ghz with stock vcore resulting same temp with stock speed @ 2.0ghz.
with CnQ disable of course.
maybe the 0.4ghz increament not giving much temp increament...

i am sure of that, mebe others like bro dblooi (sorry to mentioned ya name w/o permission) can verify this as well.

i dun this it is same...because the normal proc and oc proc are different...
even with the stock core...increasing it will produce a higher TDP
u can check using Central Brain Identifier (go to mobility tabs)
there u can see the different between power limits and current power WHEN OC and NOT OC

Simple law of physics.....the power consumed by your proc will be released as heat

cpu power consumption = TDP X (overclocked speed/stock speed) X (overclocked vcore/stock vcore)^2

note that for vcore its squared...so the effect is much more powerful

ok.....so assuming you overclocked your proc from 2.0ghz to 2.4ghz(TDP=65W)

overclocked power consumption = 65 X (2400/2000) X (1.25/1.25)^2

= 78W

Which isnt that much of an increase, proly u'll notice your temps rise by 2 or 3 degrees depending on your cooler.

now.....say you have a nice windsor 3800+ F3 and oc to 3.0ghz with stock volts

overclocked power consumption = 65 X (3000/2000) X (1.25/1.25)^2
= 97.5W

but if you have a brisbane 4000+ and oc to 3.0ghz with 1.4v instead

overclocked power consumption = 65 X (3000/2100) X (1.4/1.25)^2
= 116.5W

As shown, raising vcore has a much larger impact on power consumption(hence heat released) than raising clockspeed. Hope my long winded explanation answers all doubts

The reason , i am asking because I plan to buy one of them.I am worry if high temp will reduce the processor life span.

For 2 cores
Athlon 64 X2 4000+ 2.1 Ghz
Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0 Ghz

For 4 cores
Phenom 9100e 1.8 Ghz
Phenom 9150e 1.8 Ghz
Phenom 9550 2.2Ghz

Not sure with the price but which one is cheaper + performance I'll go with it.Normally how long can a processor last 30% usages if running the pc with room temp 35'c for 24/7 hours ? I am quite worry if too hot the processor will burn and spoil.

maybe want to change my A64 3800+ F2 to BE-2400 proc...it is worth??

chip nowadays aint gonna spoil so easily due to temp if u run 'em @ stock. heck, even overvolt a 'lil on 24/7 won't hurt, gone were d days of k62 where ones can easily fry a chip.

as long as ur on stock, u can even undervolt it if u like.

i wud say go for a cheap quaddy if u can afford or x2 4000+. just my 2 cents...

why not go for brisby bro? i can see some g2 doin really gud...

checkout the temp..1st..stock without OC at stock speed..2nd..OC a little bit(idle)..damn..i couldnt find the ss for full load OC..btw the temp is at 28c
