JB got oredi. not a huge coverage. just a small start
Added on February 13, 2010, 11:23 amyup, U Broadband relies 100% on umobile's 3G coverage/infrastructure. IF u're outside of umobile's OWN coverage, then u'll automatically starts to roam on Celcom's network. as far as i know, roaming on celcom only enable voice (not sure 'bout SMS). let's hope when umobiel starts to roam on digi, users roaming outside of umobile coverage can get at least data usage as well. http://www.malaysianwireless.com/2009/12/u...ge-network.html This post has been edited by cybpsych: Feb 13 2010, 11:23 AM |

QUOTE(lamdogkc @ Feb 19 2010, 10:19 AM) for prepaid bundle, it has RM15 (10+5) credit. so, at most, u can subscribe (tag-on) UB10 plan without topping up. if ur credit balance have at least RM68, then u can subscribe UB68 plan. speed depends on the plan u subscribe. http://broadband.u.com.my/plan.html QUOTE Pros: 1) very simple subscription method; not to worry 'bout monthly subscription if u dont like ubroadband. 2) good for trial use if you're not quite sure the performance of umobile broadband at your area. 3) modem price = RM238, so almost comparable with the market price of 3G modem anyway. 4) i think the modem is unlocked (some1 plz confirm?) Con: 1) u need to pay RM238 even if you're not quite sure of the performance. <-- treat it as if u're buying the modem only lor. for postpaid bundle, it's only UB68 plan. QUOTE Pros: 1) if you *know* ur area have good performance; then no harm "subscribe in advance" for 6 months. 2) modem value = RM38 3) 7-days cool period for refund of RM204 only. u keep the modem. Cons: 1) high upfront payment of RM438 2) it's a postpaid broadband plan of RM68/mth. meaning it's a monthly subscription (bill). 3) if refund within 7-days, only get RM204. so the "balance" is basically paying for the modem. BTW, have any1 tried the xfone modem? how's the performance? compatibility on Windows7 32-bit and 64-bit? can the modem work on non-Windws system? what idea?
"normal u mobile sim card has 3g line"? <-- dont understand la general idea: all umobile sim card have 3g line (if within coverage). else, it'll go to 2G/EDGE roaming (managed by umobile but under celcom network). if u mean 3G broadband line... then same as above. if u're within umobile's 3g coverage, u can immediately get 3g broadband as well. |

QUOTE(ericng19 @ Feb 21 2010, 11:38 PM) Totally Agree that also what I do concern about which to choose right now, because I am decided which to sign up on 2moro... no such thing as "broadband paradise" <- not in Malaysia!!! btw, ISP also need to buy bandwidth too to serve you! that's why there's no FREE/UNLIMITED data volume plans. even streamyx is pseudo/cheating-unlimited. given that u have unlimited, u cant really USE all the bandwidth (unless u keep ur system running 24/7/365) <-- also provided u dont get d/c at all! other telcos, at least, provide an above average support, much much better than shitmyx/tmnut. |

@game333, if possible, go to their service centres.
registering the prepaid pack online highly depends on the courier services too. of course another matter is the umobile office |

LOL! for u alone is big la ...
but if all users uses the same volume like you, sure traffic and congestion .... then everyone not getting good performance that's why the FUP on any ISPs is critical. it's to protect the isp AND the consumers. the point of question with FUP is: at what level should FUP kicked it? for umobile, it's 5GB for the price of RM68/mth. other isps, have different level for a specific price plan. |

no no ... it's the overall bandwidth that i'm referringto. not the group of users (heavy vs non-heavy)
btw, FUP already there since day 1 umoble offer broadband. last time, there wasn't any *action* taken. late last year, they re-introduced a variety of broadband packages and prepaid broadband as well. so, i think they started to take action on FUP as well, just so to be fair for ALL users. which user does not will curse their isp? i've been cursing ALL isps every single day. however, i do KNOW that i'm a heavy downloader, so if i get throttled by umobile, i remind myself not to download TOO MUCH next time! |

if u're unsure, why not get umobile prepaid simpack?
reload until RM68, then subscribe the UB68 plan. after subscribe, plug-out to 3G modem and use on your laptop/PC. use it for 30days. if u're satisfied, then u can choose UB68 postpaid plan instead |

all the "new" broadband plans are contractless.
that's why, use prepaid first to try ur location's performance. if ok, then subscribe a monthly plan. |
