@xtrabite, why sad?

u get for what you paid. and u dont pay extra for subsequent usage; just slower.

if u're on maxis and used up the allocated data volume, u can't even use the service! <-- now this is S-A-D!

Plans: http://broadband.u.com.my/plan.html

No modem included.

However, if u prefer Prepaid payment model, u can try this new promo: http://broadband.u.com.my/promotions.html

saw this promo recently smile.gif but i cant use it 'cause i prefer Postpaid payment mode (monthly bill).

@xtrabite, data volume is a commodity.

the ISP provide the service, the consumer "buy" it to use the data volume.

it's like water/electricity: use more, pay more. simple as that.

i think last time umobile broadband dont cap cuz there's no much promotion/users anyway.

since late last year, umobile came back to the market by introducing more attractive and competitive broadband packages.

sooner or later, FUP will always be here.

which ISP in the country dont have some sort of FUP in place? even streamyx has one way or another, a/some policy(ies) in place.

@xtrabite, we have choices. just that u need to compare side-by-side each ISP's features, coverage, etc. etc.

for me and others, umobile broadband is the best. i've tried P1 (sux) and Digi (barely getting 3G, always to EDGE). haven't tried MAxis (bad reviews by users anyway), and Celcom (no reason to use them).

@mitodna, streamyx doesn't mention bandwidth-restriction, but capping/throttling applies to services-specific: e.g. rapidshare, P2P, etc. <-- this is one form of "Fair Use" policies as well.

Yeah, you right..
We have no other choice right??
UM is the best deal anyway~

Hmm, wonder what will happen if one of the ISP think otherwise.. No FUP~  hmm.gif
*

actually there is 1 or 2 ISPs offer nearly non-FUP plans, but it's usually the most expensive plan.

example:

digi explore: RM158/mth = 16GB
maxis: RM178/mth = 12GB
P1 office standard = RM159/mth = unlimited
P1 office premium = RM339/mth = unlimited

note: P1 is the worse, cuz the modem can only be used by them! and price excludes the modem price for 2yr contract.

if u have better coverage, then Digi's RM158/mth is better (overall data volume). but still all their plans have FUP too http://www.digi.com.my/internet/broadband/policy.html

@Mycypro,

1) when did u susbscribe their broadband?
2) when was ur last usage?
3) did u ever pay their bills? (yes, i know it was always few months late).

RM799 is charged back to u when u terminated the service *before* ur contract expires.

i think RM799 covers both modem and the remaining subscription fees before the contract ends.

since they have not offered this contract for the past year or so (offerred as "Surf With U without Modem"), am curious why the fuss now.

btw, my advise is similar to mitodna's: call their CS and if no response within reasonable timeline, report to MCMC*.

*better get ur facts and proofs ready cuz MCMC dont act based on unsound complaints. especially ur bills cuz it's amounting to rm800 (as if u've never paid). if u say u dont have the bills, then get umobile CS to generate the bills to you (after all these while, the bills should've ready in their system by now).

he was using the *old* broadband package. no prepaid package. very basic single plan (rm68/mth) without modem (it was with modem, then no more).

it's a different situation now. there are more plans below RM68 and prepaid plan as well.

all in all, newer umobile broadband plans are more "approachable" to mass market needs.

But then upload is a big disappointment. sad.gif
*

this has been explained many many times. Umobile's 3g network is only HSDPA. HSUPA (or HSPA in general) is not available.

even maxis/celcom have suck upload speed.

only Digi has better upload/download cuz they have HSPA network.

around Pekeliling.. smile.gif

I'll be back to this thread cursing U-mobile when my speed is capped back.. biggrin.gif
*

well, to be fair, they are implementing the cap/uncap correctly tongue.gif and stil let u use the sevice albeit slower.

so, if the speed is slower than usually, then wait for next month cycle to get the speed back.
