maxis feels they need more money from their own users. too bad for them!

the more drastic measures they introduce, the more users running away from them!

if u're unsure, why not get umobile prepaid simpack?

reload until RM68, then subscribe the UB68 plan.

after subscribe, plug-out to 3G modem and use on your laptop/PC.
use it for 30days. if u're satisfied, then u can choose UB68 postpaid plan instead smile.gif

Updated XFone Modem Bundling Promo

http://broadband.u.com.my/promotions.html

U Broadband Prepaid T&C: http://broadband.u.com.my/pdf/U_Mobile_XFone_Prepaid_T&C.pdf
U Broadband Postpaid T&C: http://broadband.u.com.my/pdf/U_Mobile_XFone_UB68_T&C.pdf

So, in short, RM68/mth x 6 mths = RM408 upfront subscription payment for 6 months. RM38 for the modem  doh.gif

anybody know wht is the speed for this promo pack ?
1 Mb ?
How's the coverage?

for prepaid bundle, it has RM15 (10+5) credit. so, at most, u can subscribe (tag-on) UB10 plan without topping up. if ur credit balance have at least RM68, then u can subscribe UB68 plan.

speed depends on the plan u subscribe. http://broadband.u.com.my/plan.html
QUOTE
Pros:

1) very simple subscription method; not to worry 'bout monthly subscription if u dont like ubroadband.
2) good for trial use if you're not quite sure the performance of umobile broadband at your area.
3) modem price = RM238, so almost comparable with the market price of 3G modem anyway.
4) i think the modem is unlocked (some1 plz confirm?)

Con:

1) u need to pay RM238 even if you're not quite sure of the performance. <-- treat it as if u're buying the modem only lor.

for postpaid bundle, it's only UB68 plan.
QUOTE
Pros:

1) if you *know* ur area have good performance; then no harm "subscribe in advance" for 6 months.
2) modem value = RM38
3) 7-days cool period for refund of RM204 only. u keep the modem.

Cons:

1) high upfront payment of RM438
2) it's a postpaid broadband plan of RM68/mth. meaning it's a monthly subscription (bill).
3) if refund within 7-days, only get RM204. so the "balance" is basically paying for the modem.

BTW, have any1 tried the xfone modem? how's the performance? compatibility on Windows7 32-bit and 64-bit? can the modem work on non-Windws system?

check the coverage map:

http://broadband.u.com.my/coverage.html

Sunway area is well covered (note: There's official umobile service center in Sunway Pyramid)

if u're worried, get the prepaid first.

yup of course same amount smile.gif just different payment model.

http://broadband.u.com.my//plan.html

there are 2 postpaid plans:-

1) postpaid voice plan <-- tag-on ubroadband plans

2) postpaid sim-only plan <-- use solely for broadband. no voice feature.

whether prepaid or postpaid, NO contract at all.

technically, yes.

but current & official offerings from Maxis: no

so discussion 'bout this is useless cuz a new user will not ever be able to sign-up this plan at all.

does u-mobile have problems with rapidshare?  Which sees your IP address for free download mode.

it's shared IP, so i guess it will impact download from file hostings (especiall FREE account).
