QUOTE(digilife @ Jan 7 2010, 05:34 AM) Seremban, its a CSL and this modem is even compatible wif my MBP, whereas Huawei and ZTE is not compatible wif OS Snow Leopard 10.6.2 rite now I wonder how good is this XFone HSDPA modem http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...50&sec=business I think it's a good bundle program by U Mobile since their broadband packages doesnt come with any modem. XFone modem + U Mobile Broadband (Prepaid, RM15 preloaded airtime) = RM238 |

it's not TOTALLY RESTRICTED to 5GB lah ..
the FUP says ur speed will be throttled after reaching 5GB. Also, there's no extra charges (pay-as-you-use <PAYU> rate) for continuous usage. just slower only. But reading others' comments, the throttled speed is still better than other services. hence the meaning of "unlimited" for other packages, after u reach the limit, u'll be charged PAYU rate, which is expensive. btw, there's no such thing as FREE without paying for something. all wireless broadband services have FUPs. none offers truly unlimited data volume at the highest speed. but....with the exception of Streamyx lah |

second the suggestion to create a v2 thread.
the new U Broadband was launched on 28 oct 2009, so it'd be *appropriate* to have a *new* thread instead maybe mod can split all posts from 28-oct 2009 to a new v2 thread. |

QUOTE(cruxidex @ Jan 12 2010, 01:12 AM) i did 1 hour after i activate my u68 prepaid... and since i use u68... the menu show~ CODE usage = unlimited hahaha true true it's an unlimited package therefore it doesnt *count* how many u've used. 'sides, it only throttle ur speed after certain data volume *without* any extra charge for xcess use, so checking data balance is a bit moot |

QUOTE(nlinley @ Jan 12 2010, 10:43 AM) Searching for puchong in this thread shows lots of problems. Anyone try it in bandar bukit puchong area? I'm trying to find a backup wireless broadband that is reliable. earlier, there's a user from that area too stating poor performance (http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=649408&view=findpost&p=29722726) it's at a fringe/bordering coverage. u may be lucky/unlucky getting a good speed. |

definitely no major difference.
minute difference may be seen due to better (antenna?) signal reception -> possibly improve performance. |

few KMs makes a difference though.
and nearby site at BTS may not fully cover jln jarret, hence the poor performance there. |

u sure u see the brochures?
it says *subject to Fair Use Policy at the bottom of the rate plan table. read my post #2500 the meaning of "unlimited" in umobile's plan still better than Maxis lah (total termination after u've used up ur data volume) |

u're lucky oredi lah ... if 1 month (unthrottled) = 5GB, then 70GB/5GB = 14 months!
so, u basically used up 14mths-worth of data allocation in less than a month! luckily it's "unlimited" without extra charges. |

cap in which aspect?
1) speed? yes, throttled after utilized 5GB (users mentioned this earlier). 2) data volume? no, u still can utilize more, but at throttled speed. (users reported performance is still good) 3) price? no, RM68/mth only. No extra charges past 5GB. so the term "unlimited" used in this thread = 2 + 3 all in all, it's Unlimited (FUP) This post has been edited by cybpsych: Jan 22 2010, 11:21 PM |
