Upgrade firmware to v20 at Nokia centre, did a mass memory format.

I noted if theme is installed in mass memory, whenever the phone restarts, it shows "Untrusted software found on mass memory...blah blah blah", it's quite annoying.

Solution is install theme in phone memory, and the message will disappear. Anyone having same issue?

Chk out http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discus...e=1&format=page for more info.

Just updated my firmware to v20 over the weekend. Gave me lots of headache doh.gif

1. Backup my phone memory to PC.. Slow but steady tongue.gif
2. Install v20 firmware .. OK with 1st try rclxms.gif (My friend's AP set had to try a few times because the PC keep complaining the phone is disconnected)
3. Tried to restore phone memory from PC - hanged at 63%... repeated a few times.... no use cry.gif .. each time have to kill the Content Copier app manually.. Tried to reset the phone to factory setting using the *#7370# code and copy again.... still no use cry.gif
4. Panic....... Because my phone book is in the PC backup... Luckily the phone book was restored sweat.gif
5. Backup the phone book to mass memory and reset the phone. Reinstall all apps and tweak the phone configurations again.. Took me half a day sweat.gif
6. Tried to reactivate my n-gage games that I bought... Don't let me enter activation code sad.gif Keep sending me to "Activation Failed" screen
7. Tried a few of things (including reseting the phone again vmad.gif )... Finally problem solved when I reformat the mass memory and reinstall ngage + game..

I hope the next firmware update won't be this tedious.. really learned a lot about my phone this weekend sweat.gif

nope....latest firmware doesnt have this feature unless u go and install 3rd party one....in this firmware...it only has automatic screen rotation...which i think consumes quite a bit of battery if u leave it at auto mode...

i decided not to update. bad feedback in the process of flashing new one. effort vs outcome doesn't worth.

Hi guys,

I've just done the update to V 20.0.016 and suffered similar issues to others.

1/ backed up my phone using PC Suite 6.86.9.0 - the backup was about 695mb and took forever !
2/ installed V 20.0.016 using NSU 2.0.16.0 - no issues, but it did take a looooong time. It appeared to get stuck at times, but I just waited and it installed ok. Probably took about an hour at this stage, but I was using a standalone Pentium 3 600mhz laptop to do it !
3/ reinstalled everything to my phone EXCEPT Settings from the backup using PC Suite - I did this as lots of people had mentioned that reinstalling settings from an old install onto a new install would cause problems - well basically nothing worked, even though all my files were back on the phone, so I....
4/ reinstalled Settings from the backup as well.

Everything then appeared to work, but a reboot gave me the error about 'Installing' and 'Untrusted Software' and 'to Install go to Application Manager'. When I checked Appl Manager I had a few .SIS files which hadn't installed, and it looked like I had the dreaded 'Themes DIY' problem of having it installed on the Mass Memory instead of the phone memory. I manually installed the .SIS files from Appl Manager but still had the 'Untrusted Software' on startup.

I fluffed around deleting Theme DIY files from E:/Private/10207114/Import but to no avail. I also reinstalled Themes DIY on the phone memory without luck. I then had to manually delete the Themes DIY files from the phone memory as well.

So with what I though was all the 'Themes DIY' files off the phone I still had the 'Untrusted Software' message and 'Installing' delay on reboot. icon_question.gif

What did I have to do to finally fix it ?? hmm.gif icon_idea.gif

Simply delete all the .SIS files from E:/PRIVATE/10202DCE and my problem is solved. rclxms.gif

No more 'Installing' message on bootup, free memory has gone up, and response time is back to normal ! All Apps appear to be working as designed. rclxm9.gif

Cheers

Justin

don worry...is normal...it takes longer time to show da contacts as compare to pc version...mine also show the same as urs...regarding gps usuage, u hv to be at outdoor, then launch ur maps application or other 3rd party software u hv...for better usuage it is advisable to slide open ur key pad cos it is said tt da chips located beneath da key pad....if u wish to get a lock in quicker time make sure to enable agps function...it will use a littel network data but locks in fast time...cheers

Do you prefer multimedia like camera ,radio , mp3 or you like to use it for business purpose like email, wifi and so on?Tytn and other pda are good enough for business but N95 for user that use multimedia a lot.
