@vkeong,

I recommend you to visit Chowrasta Market one morning. Lots of nice food there. The earlier the better.

Corner coffee shop, Chinese name "Tian Tian Lai" - CKT(also available is char mee suah), popiah(2 ringgit for 2 rolls), curry mee(the "white" version), "dry oyster porridge". Nearby, there's also a open area with hawker stalls too.

Then there's also one "chee cheong choke", the stall is in front of a hair salon. Near one end of Jln Kuala Kangsar, towards Lebuh Campbell. Llimited tables, always crowded.

Got one old aunty, she sells one type of kueh, wrap with kacang, made on the spot. But only on Sat/Sun, assisted by her daughter-in-law.

@putraskyline
There are mamak coffee shops at Chowrasta Market, at the Lebuh Tamil towards Jalan Penang side. A must try is the mutton satay, Indonesian style. And to go with Ais Tingkap.

The famous teow chew chendol @ Penang Road
Went to Penang last month and did have this cendol (not my first time since I've had it before) but the standard has dropped and it's not as nice as I remembered it to be.

So far best cendol I've tried is in Melaka at a nyonya restaurant. Very fragrant gula melaka and even the green noodly thing has a nice pandan flavour.

Added on December 28, 2009, 2:02 pmAfter the Wat Chayamankalaram & Dharmikarama Burmese Temple.

Dinner @ Tree Shade Restaurant? << This if I'm not mistaken is opposite the Ferry Terminal & QEII(drinks & disco)

Suggest since you are in the vicinity of Pulau Tikus, after the Burmese Temple, visit the Pulau Tikus Market for the local hawker fare. If you take pork, try the pork satay (plain meat or intestine) with potato sauce. Less than a handful stall serve this sauce. Try it before it vanish into history.
Walk around all the other stalls, before you sit down.
