Taxi or bus from airport to the ferry station. Take ferry across to butterworth.
Then just take the transnational bus or konsortium bus to alor setar. Very frequent trips daily.

What food do you have in mind? CKT or chendol or nutmeg or biscuit?

If by bus about 2 to 3 hours depends on traffic volume and ferry frequency.

I know a few friends that tahpua CKT & Ice Kacang to KL on a regular basis.
Dunno any Penang Famous dry food, only know the famous biscuit and nutmeg.

i am going penang, will be staying from 26 may 2011 onwards, and leave on 29 may 2011. is there any good and worth the money hotel with car park to recon?

last time i stay at this four stars hotel cititel which i think it is not bad.
