My friends wish to have 3 days 2 night trip at penang island. They wish to have one night stay at north part and another night at south part. Their budget for one night is around 150++, or lower.. Any hotel to be recommended?
I have just did online survey about the hotels, for bayan lepas area, Krystal Suites and B Suites comes to my consideration. Any review or comment regarding these 2 hotels?
For north part, how do you think about Bayview Penang and Hotel Royal?
Thanks in advance.. smile.gif

Hmmm, I wondered too... Normally, people would ask whether to stay in Georgetown or Batu Ferringhi...and some would split their stay in these two parts..

My suggest is like Ami Tsun suggested either stay in Georgetown or Batu Ferringhi. Penang Island is not like traveling Kepong to Kajang. It is much shorter even if have traffic jam.

Hi guys, i'm planning a 4D3N trip to Penang from 18th-21st december, need recommendation for hotels/apartments around there. we have around 10-12 people and budget preferably as cheap as possible, we're all still students. biggrin.gif Not really looking for luxurious places to stay at, any comfortable and clean place will do..

Oh yea, preferably somewhere near the beach if can..

Thanks in advance! smile.gif

@AtresiaAni : With such a big group, maybe you should try looking at Vistana Apartments at Bukit Jambul area.

Wat's your budget per person?
Have you check Bayu Emas Apartment along Batu Feringghi? or the budget hotels in the city especially in the Heritage area? Most of them, these days are clean, no more ayam house. Use Uncle Google for rates and discount.
My suggestion, if you dun have own transport, then you should carefully reconsider Vistana Apartments.

biggrin.gif Heong Pheng aka 'tau sar pneah' or 'tambun pneah' is a must for non-malays when they visit Penang. The most sought after is Him Heang. They can be bought opposite the 1926 Hotel (formerly but was closed and reopened) in Burma Road just before the CRC /Jalan Larut junction. After Penang Plaza, look to the right, just after a coffee shop. In front of it is also coffee shop. It is their own building.

Another one, which I prefer is Ghee Hiang located in Beach St. Locate the fire station in Chulia St. turn left and it is on the right. They are also the manufacturer of the sesame seed oil, Ghee Hiang(the one with the baby brand). Another one which sprouted out of popularity is Dragon Ball Biscuits (Loong Chee Pheng) also located in Chulia St. Most hard corers goes for Him Heang but it is also the most expensive of the three. If you can't find them, they also can be bought at the stalls in Chowrasta market selling native products but they are not oven fresh. biggrin.gif

Look for this building.

So many of you. You can always try the budget hotel in Miami Beach (where Hydro Majestic Hotel is located). There are three there but the last ones meaning the furtherst one is the most decent of the three. It is only RM50 per room and I am sure they allow 4 to a room. One drawback though, the bath is open(only shaded by a shower screen). The beach is just a walk away opposite the Batu Feringghi road. Bus services is quite convenient here.

Or you can try this ad that I saw in Mudah.com. Also located almost at the same location. nod.gif

Yea, cause most of us are joining the Penang Annual Round Island Relay, so we have 12 people running on the 19th december, figured we will plan a little trip along with this run.. smile.gif can i know how early do the bus services start? cause some of us might need to the go to 'Upper Penang Road' at 6am to join the run on the 19th (we're not sure if we have enough car space for 12 people) or is it more convenient if we stay at town area for the first night for the run and move to batu ferringi for the subsequent days?

the hill is open, however the train is not functioning. you can either hike the hill or use 4wd service near the botanic park which cost rm15 per person.
