Personally I think that usually electronic items prices will fall down once the manufacturers decides to produce it in bigger quantities, so at this moment PS3 shud be the entry level BD player, unless for those BD enthusiast with lotsa moolah, of course they will hunt for the ultimate player.. peasant like me usually waits for the right time to bite the cheese. tongue.gif

actually, no need to worry about it being entry level, the PS3 pretty capable with running with the best BD players out there (exception for not able to output DTS-MA) it's already the BD player of choice for high end installs (meaning custom home theaters over USD100k..)

net access and 1GB storage (does that affect your main BD movie experience? I think not)

If it could do both, that will even be better, via PCM or Bitstream. Hopefully, a new model will have such specs, you'll never know what Sony is up to.

if you are into console gaming then the PS3 is your best choice for BD movie watching. If you are not interested in console gaming, I suggest that you wait for Sony's profile 2.0 standalone BD player which will be priced SRP at $399 and $499. The $399 model is capable to doing DTS HD MA via Bit Stream where as the $499 is capable of decoding DTS HD MA. Once the Sony players are out, I believe we will see cheaper profile 2.0 BD players in the in the market from Sharp, Philips and probably Samsung and LG. The price is extremely expensive now considering NONE of the BD players are profile 2.0. Meaning you will not be able to profile 2.0 features in some BD movie.

Conclusion, get the PS3 if u r into gaming. The PS3 is capable of being profile 2.0 via firmware update. If not, wait for profile 2.0 players to hit the market. If you are not interested in extra features, please also, wait! once 2.0 players are out, profile 1.1 and 1.0 BD players will hit rock bottom. That will be the time to buy tongue.gif

Also, to listen to hidef soundtracks of Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, DTS HD and DTS HD Master, you will need a receiver capable of decoding all the above mention tracks. There is a thread on the Yamaha receiver that is capable of doing so. There is also a thread on the ONKYO receiver also, capable of doing the same

Finally, your TV. to view HD sources at its best, please equip yourself with a HDTV (preferable HD Ready with the built HD tuner - its NOTHING BUT WASTE OF MONEY in the case of Malaysia! we will NEVER get free to air HD channels and you dont need HD Tuner for Astro or U Television because their Decoder will do the job for you. My advise - get a >47" full HD 1080p TV or 1080i/720p for size from 32" to 46".

Ohh yeah.. actually Im not in the hurry to get any BD players, LCD and so on.. some research and guidelines from fellow enthusiast here.. Its either going to be next year or so.. because I just move in to a new place and need to settle down first. I already have a PS2 at the moment, seldom touch it due to bz working.. come home prefer to watch my 21 inch tv.. (so pathetic!) I know that prices will drop sooner or later, now I just need to follow the thread and keep hoping to hear good news.. tongue.gif Anyway, I wont hesitate to get some of the BD Titles that I already saw in Amazon.. really tempting.. very boring watching those (Ahem!) Dvd's.. the effects is just not there.. anyway thanks for the kind attention again guys... tongue.gif
