Recently i just bought a house. The initial problem is that the current dome type plaster ceiling in the living room & dining room is only 9ft from floor. which means the fan is seriously low, about 7ft. Do you think it will cost alot for me to remove the existing plaster ceiling and replace with a L box type with pendaflour lights surrounding the inner box? Of course the purpose is to have a higher clearance.

The living room ceiling about 200sqft. Dining hall ceiling about 100 sqft.

Just wanna ask, is it advisable to attach satellite speakers to the plaster ceiling itself (probably a small one, maybe those typical PC speaker size). If possible don't want to put them on the floor cuz of messy cables.

Subwoofer, no choice have to put on floor la.

yes possible if your speaker is small 1. but need to do some wiring works before plaster ceiling

anyone know about the cost to repair plaster ceiling. there was water leak from above toilet and 4 holes that I've opened on the ceiling. have retiling and put water proof at the toilet. now want to repair the ceiling. get a quote of RM 250 to cover those 4 holes (excluding painting). those 4 holes approx. 4 X 4 feet (the most). if new plaster ceiling is RM 3 per sq feet, RM250 consider expensive right?

If the developer has installed the plaster ceiling, is it possible for the wireman to route additional wiring above it, says lighting and fan points?

Or must I whack the current plaster ceiling, and install new one after wiring works? Thanks!

You can ask the contractor that do plaster ceiling and see what is the best way to do it. Obviously you will need to tear down some of the exisiting plaster ceiling in order to put in wiring.

Just like how the ceiling fan is being installed onto the plaster ceiling.
For the projector, there would be the mounting bracket in place of the hook.

As for curtain rail, it would depends on the type of curtain that you intend to hang. Basically you will need to have something for the rail to fasten onto. If you inform your plaster ceiling contractor, giving him the exact position of the rail, he will be able to do that.

Anything that need to be install onto the plaster ceiling will need some support to be install before the actual item can be hang to it.

anyone also can, it depend on the type of your downlights design. 9.8ft is quite high if you lowered 7-8 inches should not have any problem to occupy the 6 inch high downlights. lastly it depend to the design of the lights. whistling.gif

yes, some portion of your plaster board have to tear down (as long as hand can go to do the work) and ask plaster guys to patches it up if any other plastering work. just be reminded keep the pieces of that plaster that the wireman tear down, will keep the work more easier. coz just asl the painter guys to seal for you and this will save more (if they willing, most probably with some small charges to make them happy) or else you will get an extra bills for the plaster board service just to patch up the opening. icon_rolleyes.gif

so how is the ceiling fan installed to the ceiling?
*
sky, kelvyn, sonerin, Skylinestar - they have to add wood plank / plywood right on top of the place of that particular thing to be installed. of course if you said install punching bag can or not or are they using the same method? no it's different coz too heavy cannot sustain the weight mah same like the ceiling fan. so how ahh? they have to install a longer hook to the ceiling before they are going to close the plaster board so the position have to ba presicely. so this can explain all ur queries. no other meaning just share some info that i know.
