By default most of the second floor already have some kind on plaster board (not sure what it call like 2x4 type) installed by the developer.

My question is:
If we plan install Plaster Ceiling, should those plaster board to be removed off or just install at low level?
What is Pro / Con of it?

If you have more than 10'f height ceiling..u can always place the new plaster below the existing board.. I did that, and strangely, I feel my rooms upstairs are little 'cooler' during hot days..maybe due to the extra insulation between the board and the new plaster...Nice!

your ceiling board is for water protection?? I never thought of it that way.. rclxms.gif

I am putting the water tank, pump,Joven heater on top of my roof slab so very little pipes goes over the ceiling...to prevent water leaks to the plaster ceiling.. nod.gif of course I am rebuilding the house so I get to redesign everything my way- not the developer's rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

hi all, can someone tell me
what is the correct way to place T5 tube on the L-box for light through, so that it appear straight/parallel when lights on, and at the same time without black spot in between.

Reason, if tubes are to be overlapped, it eliminate dark spot between tubes, but lights appears zig-zag when turned on. On the other hand, to make it straight thus do away with the overlapping, there would be dark spot between tubes. Guess those who had done it will understand my prob.

Thx

last 4 years my plaster ceiling for whole house (double storey 2000sqft) only cost me rm4k including wiring... smile.gif

my contractor didnt take out the original ceiling, they just pull out ermm what we call it arrr... "rangka?" ceiling (kayu in between every board).. tongue.gif so if there is a water leakage it will not directly effect my plaster ceiling (i hope smile.gif)

Added on April 22, 2011, 4:14 pmPlaster ceiling is the 1st things u should do after wiring b4 u move in your new house.. dust from plaster ceiling not easy to clean up... i need to hire pro cleaner to do the cleaning.. sad.gif

your contractor is lowering your ceiling height at least 4 to 6 inch. Your light fitting do not have air ventilation. All heat is trap between the 2 ceiling void area.
