QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Apr 19 2008, 02:08 AM) In the wild, gliders rarely find fruit. They find mainly blossoms.... and their main feed is tree sap and insects. In captivity, we give fruits coz it supplements tree sap and blossoms in a way.... but not ideal if fed alone lah. That is why we got those glider diets all over the internet. A guide for us to give a healthy diet. You pamper your gliders again Hun.. Inspires me to get wood chew and sticks. We can give flowers too. Hibiscus @ bunga raya is good. My gliders chew and shred the flowers. Anyway, today I got new toys for my gliders again. New wood to be precise. Now they got apple wood chews! Yay! My poor glidee at home..currently they isn't anything to occupy them.. besides the random branches i picked from roadsides. I have done some googling just now on their natural diet. Saturday is one of my best, off day! It helps me to appreciate the Pet Glider Complet Multivitamin. Why? Becuase it's complete with bee pollen, accacia gum and ..yes, nectar. Sugar glider has high metabolism and great need for carbohydrates, this call for the nectar, a sugar-rich liquid produced by plants. Second, they feed on large quantities of bee pollen besides nectar. And this bee pollen is very compact. Meaning they have condensed and broad-spectrum nutrients. A small amount proves effective. The third reason, is the accacia gum. Sugar glider will feed on the exudate from this accacia, the sap, in the wild, accacia trees are a boon to may different stocks of mammals, not only sugar gliders. Birds love to perch on them and moving creatures love to seek shelter from it. So now, i have it all in Pet Glider Complete and a good reason why i should get it. Good suggestion Hun, I will feed them with Hibiscus flower too! Thanks.. My torts love it... my gliders should love it... but my guineas ignore it. QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Apr 19 2008, 04:01 PM) Had Neshimaru since last November.. then Suggie Wuggie was later given to me just last month cause the owner couldn't take care of it anymore. He wanted to sell off so I quickly buy it at cheaper price thinking it would be great to reunite the sisters again once and for all!Oh yea.. mealworm! They are so icky but for them.. I'll climb the mountain! So feeding those worms will take me a long time cause they are just so ... *shivers* Sorry thejamz! |

oh, so gliders can eat hibiscus ?? does it contain nutrients?? apart from hibiscus flowers, what other flowers are not toxic and edible for gliders??
since nectar and pollen is part of their diet, i believe most flowers are edible right? especially those with large amount of pollens ? eg : kekwa, sunflower, roses ... are these edible too ??? |
