b) Network Problem. I’m using Belkin G+ Router that integrates both modem and wireless, model number F5D9230-4. I’ve read the thread with regards network problem and have tried to do a static IP configuration for the PS3. I was referred to the site called portforwarding and followed the instructions to setup port 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3658 and 5223 for my PS3 via a static IP. This process I’ve done whilst setting it up in the router. Then went to PS3 internet setting to input the manual IP add config similar to the one which I’ve created in the router. Whilst other options after the manual creation of the static IP in PS3 I just put as auto. Once done I checked the PS3 internet connection and it shows a satisfying 70% signal plus using the static IP add that I’ve registered it with. Further to this, at the bottom of the status screen it’s showing as NAT2, which I believe should not be a problem accessing the network. Thus when to sign in to the PSNetwork, but was was timeout due to error message server is not responding to my request. Btw, my PSN ID is “arachnod”. Accessing internet via the PS3 as well is a bit slow and sometimes is unbearable. Can you help me on this? Also to this configuration by a newbie like me, has caused my laptop to unable to access to the internet (I’m using Macbook Pro)
.
Hope you can help out since going crazy laa with this problem.....Thanks much if it's too long, we can liaise thru my PM....thank you taiko2X

aaron, thanks... doh.gif sometimes the cheapest is the best anyway. But problem is here is
a) I'm not sure whether it's my config yg salah... blush.gif
b) Not sure whether it's my signal problem but i'm getting around 75% average
c) Not sure it's trully my Belkin problem... grumble.gif
.
If go buy new router, would need to buy a separate modem as well and if problem persist, will surely kick myself in the head leh.....dah laa economic crunch..hahahaah cry.gif
.
btw, can I know which aztech model you bought and how much...could go to lowyatt tomorrow. Any good shops to recommend???

From my experience, Belkins are great routers if you set it right.... but, a real pain the ass if configs are wrong. Also, make sure you are not downloading anything in the background with your PC, especially torrentz.

Instead of port forwarding, i recommend you DMZ your PS3 IP. Dont worry... no known harm towards the PS3. tongue.gif

Anyway.... I got my Aztech ADSL+Wifi Router for RM165. I'm sure somewhere in lowyat is cheaper.. but hey, this is Penang. tongue.gif

The model is DSL605EW.

Aaron, thanks for the tip. No issues since if torrent only I use therefore playing ps3 is solely for ps3 only. Hehehehe. Regards to the setup of Belkin, anyone knows the right configuration? I bought Belkin due to name and also price leh….it was expensive at that point of time and G+ was top of the line….but now koyak leh…..
.
Solution I will try tonight is:
a) delete all the virtual server (ip add) setup and DMZ PS3 ip add or
b) reconfigure belkin static ip add for ps3 from 10 to 4, since for unknown reason I can only see 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 under my DHCP client listing of the router. But DHCP is set from 1 – 100. Even set my PS3 to 2.10 oso never appear in the client listing
c) Give up and continue to play COD4 alone….huhuhuhuhuh
.
Venture, saw the buffalo router at low yatt just now, tempted to buy (since seller was persistent say no problem etc) but want to hold on first…..my belkin is still working so not sure if changing router would work…..
.
Meantime, any comments is much appreciated..regards…..

Bro rburn,.
.
Sorry noob here, what do you mean by deleting my cache? Is it via my router or ps3 cache? Went thru the whole system setting for both but cannot find anything on deleting cache except under PS3 internet browser, empty cache..
.
is this the one? If not appreciate your advice.
.
Regards

I dont know bro...

It's really difficult to judge by reading alone... have to hands on.

But from what i experienced, my Belkin didnt work at all, i gave it to my sister, and voila, boom, she so happy about the router.. damn.

But i'm happy with the Aztech one.

My advice, when all fails, switch to Aztech (i only say Aztech because it works for me) and sell the belkin to someone else.

Aaron,
.
Thanks. Seems Belkin sucks if wanna play network I guess (solely my experience so sorry to those taiko happily using Belkin).
So most feasibly solution is get a new modem + router separately and hopefull it’ll work…..my only worry is if it’s still the same problem and also…
.
furthermore, I’m an idiot when it comes to network setting. Buying a new modem/router would mean to do the setup again which I’m really bad at.
.
will see how it goes….waaarrrghhhhh

dont kick yourself in the head la.. bro.. laugh.gif

i also used belkin and i have no problem connecting to PSN. and i realize that comparing to my old router, dlink (DI-524 - good), lnksys(WRT54G v7-suck), my belkin (best) took least time to get conneted to PSN.

ok.. for your problem reset the router configuration to the original setting and disable your built-in firewall. and see whether the problem solve.

ok. first what u can do, to completed erase the ip add - set your router DHCP leasing time to shortest time.

then, baru set your static ip add. if not conflict will occur.

if u really want to use static ip add. turn off your DHCP. dont turn on and use static add., later u have problem like (your (b))
