I am using DIR-300 with my PS3 and it works well smile.gif I even tried flashing it to dd-wrt firmware and it still works like wonder. But my advise is don't get this router. Try other brands like linksys or belkin.

LAST WARNING :

DON'T GET DIR300 FOR PS3.

If you really read all the posts here, you'll find that many dir-300 users (including myself), has problems connecting with people on the psn.

Sure, downloading demos, logging in to psn all NO PROBLEM one.. only when CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE VIA PSN TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER GAMES, the problem become obvious.

That's why i changed to cheapo aztech.... works great.

this is funny laa since some people got some problem with this router but other people don't..why aaa???? doh.gif doh.gif
.
by right it should be the same kan...anyway maybe due to config I suppose. Can I know whether if I own a DIR300 therefore my setup should be the same with another person or different?
.
it's just thinking of a new router but can't really specify which router to use (for minimum headache and straight action all the way, without config require) takut after you buy, then router cannot use...paiseh laa like that cry.gif cry.gif
.
Bro Amigo,
.
Thanks for the reply and will revert shortly as am digesting ur recommendations icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Bro Amigo,.
.
Hey thanks man for the feedback and to trouble shoot the problem...... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
.
Saw some guys using FD7630-4 if I'm not mistaken. I'm using the FD9230-4 a g+ router and modem encased into one. don't see anyone using this router. googled your N1 belkin vision. looks sleek and nice leh......price outside could be above 500 right? Is it integrated with the modem as well? my colleague are saying that for intergrated router normally will cause problems thus better by a separate system....
.
hmm setting back to factory setting I see......before I do that, I'll save my current setting. But by setting back to factory setting, will my password all (i.e. accessing to Streamyx and also router password) being reset as well? I'm just afraid since I can't remember my streamyx password doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
.
After reset than all cannot use already liow. Anyway let's say I disable my internal firewall thus would this then result in my network to be more susceptible to hackers? Can I restrict the disabled firewall to only my PS3?
.
Will try this and update tomorrow, I hope since still in the office nia..... vmad.gif
.
Is it recommended to dynamic or static ID...what about your config? using static????
.
Thanks bro...

ok.

when u backup ur setting, all your configuration are saved, thus when u restore back u will have ur username and password again. but i hope someone correct me if im wrong.

nevertheless, just call streamyx hotline to retrieve your username as well as ur password. they can help u in case u forgotten.

regarding the built it firewall, although u disable the built in router firewall u still have your windows firewall.

bear in mind that, u only disable the router firewall not the os firewall or other firewall software.

i dun see any problem but i cannot assure u whether your system is susceptible to hackers or not. hope someone correct me again. so far i haven't got any issue on the security breach.

u cant restrict the firewall thing to ur ps3...

i use static add with DCHP off. (to increase security) and i assign my ps3, laptop and computer with a static add.

my router is version F5D8232-4. ( wifi router function only... and the best is, it cost less the RM500. (brand new)

hope my explanation help... ok bro story later. try first. if fail then maybe other can help u.

Bro Amigo,
.
Thanks man.....that is really a great advise.
.
Tried it last night and I disabled my firewall via the router. after tried to setup the network ps3 via easy setup which means my ip add is auto. funny thing is, I can't even get an ip add??? hahaha...anyway what I did next was, resetup ps3 to configure it to use static ip add which I've configured earlier......then at last managed to get the IP add (1st level) but 2nd level internet connection is failed...some error called DNS error 87010102......
.
Then after I checked my router it's not stable i.e. signal is on and off constantly...really don't know why.....anyway tried another thing i.e. router channel changed it from auto to manual channel. hope this helps and will try again tonight...
.
thanks bro and keep you updated...cheers

ok i know what u means cannot getting ip add. dont use auto add. use manual.

DNS error? u called streamyx hotline. is something wrong with your line?.

ok. thing u can do is (dunno whether its help or not, try fill up dns address that is
202.188.0.133
202.188.1.5

or if u suspect your router has problem. do a direct connection to the ps3 means
modem <---> ps3. use PPPOE. then see whether connection can be made or not.

play around with upnp thing. i'm not an expert but i'll try to help u.

sometimes i also got this DNS error 87010102...... thing.. vmad.gif

constructive comment is appreciated icon_rolleyes.gif

Apparently, the DNS error 87010102 is quite common... sometimes the router just lost it's connection with the PS3... I dont know about wired, but mostly happen to wireless i believe.

Nothing serious though... it will get back on in no time as long as no settings changed.
