Digging up old thread !!

I never realised TC used DIR-300 also. And i'm also having problems on a few games.

Namely, COD4, have trouble accepting invites, GTA4, GSNLE syndromme, MGO cannot join at all...

Few games works fine...

Could it be my router ??

^^

Well, i never had problems going online or logging into PSN.

Just have problems on certain games. Especially P2P games.

And i'm not confident of using wireless anymore, i might just settle for a phone line near my ps3 and use a modem directly connected instead to lessen all the headache.

Erm, if you have a router.. you should be able to run it 24 hours no matter if your pc is on or not. I'm pretty sure in your router settings, there will be an option for you to choose to connect either by manually or always on. Obviously choose Always On.

Streamyx uses dynamic PPPoE.

I'm not sure about others.

For the PS3, for best performance. create a static IP (manually give IP). And DMZ it.

Mine does biggrin.gif DIR-300 is perfecto.

PS : For those with DIR-300 and having problems, do search up for dd-wrt smile.gif Its a modded firmware for the router. Something like psp custom firmware. It might fix the problem.
*
Terry, yeah i know about the dd-wrt modded firmware.. but it sounds so complicated... if you dont mind, please share the step by step....

thanks aaron...
but one thing is i manually connect my streamyx when i on my pc, so if i set the router to Always-On, will i get connection after off pc?
wil creating a static ip solve tis?
thanks ...
*
No problem dude...

If your router is set to Always-on... it does not matter anymore if your pc is off. You're dialing thru the router directly, and not the PC. Your PC is only connected to the router to use the internet/LAN.

Erm, i hope i explain it right.... tongue.gif

Argh, even with the step by step, it sounds to freaking complicated. Damn it.

aaron, thanks... doh.gif sometimes the cheapest is the best anyway. But problem is here is
a) I'm not sure whether it's my config yg salah... blush.gif
b) Not sure whether it's my signal problem but i'm getting around 75% average
c) Not sure it's trully my Belkin problem... grumble.gif
.
If go buy new router, would need to buy a separate modem as well and if problem persist, will surely kick myself in the head leh.....dah laa economic crunch..hahahaah  cry.gif
.
btw, can I know which aztech model you bought and how much...could go to lowyatt tomorrow. Any good shops to recommend???
*
From my experience, Belkins are great routers if you set it right.... but, a real pain the ass if configs are wrong. Also, make sure you are not downloading anything in the background with your PC, especially torrentz.

Instead of port forwarding, i recommend you DMZ your PS3 IP. Dont worry... no known harm towards the PS3. tongue.gif

Anyway.... I got my Aztech ADSL+Wifi Router for RM165. I'm sure somewhere in lowyat is cheaper.. but hey, this is Penang. tongue.gif

The model is DSL605EW.

I dont know bro...

It's really difficult to judge by reading alone... have to hands on.

But from what i experienced, my Belkin didnt work at all, i gave it to my sister, and voila, boom, she so happy about the router.. damn.

But i'm happy with the Aztech one.

My advice, when all fails, switch to Aztech (i only say Aztech because it works for me) and sell the belkin to someone else.

LAST WARNING :

DON'T GET DIR300 FOR PS3.

If you really read all the posts here, you'll find that many dir-300 users (including myself), has problems connecting with people on the psn.

Sure, downloading demos, logging in to psn all NO PROBLEM one.. only when CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE VIA PSN TO PLAY MULTIPLAYER GAMES, the problem become obvious.

That's why i changed to cheapo aztech.... works great.

ok i know what u means cannot getting ip add. dont use auto add. use manual.

DNS error? u called streamyx hotline. is something wrong with your line?.

ok. thing u can do is (dunno whether its help or not, try fill up dns address that is
202.188.0.133
202.188.1.5

or if u suspect your router has problem. do a direct connection to the ps3 means
modem <---> ps3. use PPPOE. then see whether connection can be made or not.

play around with upnp thing. i'm not an expert but i'll try to help u.

sometimes i also got this DNS error 87010102...... thing.. vmad.gif

constructive comment is appreciated  icon_rolleyes.gif

Added on October 21, 2008, 11:44 ami'll try to post my setting later....

Apparently, the DNS error 87010102 is quite common... sometimes the router just lost it's connection with the PS3... I dont know about wired, but mostly happen to wireless i believe.

Nothing serious though... it will get back on in no time as long as no settings changed.

sometime.. took long time also....

What i did was, retest the ps3 connection.... if really fails.. then restart the router...

Usually, it fixes itself.

.

yo amigo…..
.
actually I’ve changed it to auto add and assign static add, and can get the ip address already. Now upon trying to get the psn network it’s still the same error message….nia@#@#@#@ vmad.gif . Yet to try your earlier suggestion i.e. reset router, disable firewall and test ps3 connection. Last time I tried my connection was not stabled. One point got signal then signal disappear…..my ps3 also is showing only 45% signal strength…..maybe it’s raining for past few days?? I know it’s stupid, but dunnola  icon_rolleyes.gif
.
The DNS add also is similar to the one uv suggested so not an issue there I suppose. I can’t connect directly to the router to my Ps3 since my router is upstairs then extensive cabling needs to be done.
.
So there’s two people now using belkin i.e. amigo, therescueone  without any problem conenctnig to PS3. I’m the unluckiest one, thus this weekend could go and buy another router I suppose. But again, the problem is not all router is compatible and it really depends on ur luck since some have problems and some don’t.

bro advocade and aaron,
.
Can I know which model you've bought for aztech router??? seems this could be the best option since it's cheap so if still cannot use, tk menangis sgt  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif
.
what about your setup with aztech, do you need to do any complicated process i.e. static Ip laaa port forwarding la etc???? hope not and really hope it's plug and play....
.
cheers
*
Hmm, basically, setting it up is easy.

But for it to work well with all games, you need to DMZ your ps3 ip address, so yeah, you need static ip for the ps3. No need to think about port forwarding lar... just DMZ your PS3.

Weird indeed.

Try restart the router via the router menu.
