Interesting topic =) As I am interested to study in HK too.
Anyone applied to go to study in HK this year?
Do anyone know any education loans that are allowed for the course that are not recognized by JPA?

You can try to apply for the HK Government Bursary, iinm. Most HK Universities do have education loans, so it shouldn't be too hard to get, as long as your grade is acceptable (i.e. not sterling).

I'm not too sure about other loans though. Forgive my ignorance.

HKU Law. I was given only two weeks to respond to the offer so I couldn't make a decision so it elapsed.
I know that the process for visa and everything should be very easy for international students.
They have included all of the documents in the offer package.
I think they will have the student visa arranged for you so that you can temporary stay in Hong Kong for your studies!
Will you be starting in September 2011? That's very exciting isn't it?

I see, so are you re-applying? Since you mention you change major.
Yea, I am going for Semester A this coming September 2011, excited yes.
Seems quite a lot of Malaysian students are going to HK to study nowadays.
But my field, I haven't heard of yet.

I am not reapplying for study in HK at this stage because I still have other obligations to finish off
Hope to go there in the future if possible. I know that the study there is quite intense though.
Are you staying in a student accommodation with the university or renting?
I think it would be better to stay as a border. That's a lot less hassles!

I am goin there alone, as most of my ex-coursemates has all finish further studying.
I worked a few years and now continue.
Will be staying in the student accomodation, cheapest choice available.
Outside are just too costly.

May I know why you chose HKU for law at first?

I am applying for CUHK IFAA course( Insurance, finance and Actuarial Analysis) but haven't received any reply yet. I guess my chance of getting in is very slim as the course is very competitive. By the way, congrats for getting admitted. Regarding applying visa, I have no idea about that. Maybe Angela can give you some guide about that.

Hi Ykk3, you are right that the IFAA course is extremely competitive even though it comes with a great job prospect.
One of my friends has just finished the IFAA course in CUHK with an internship, and then he got offered a job straight away.
Salary is quite high but my friend said the course and the work are demanding as well.
The analytical skills and knowledge acquired in the field is very sophisticated and unique.

To acquire a Hong Kong visa, you will first need to receive an offer letter of admission.
Upon receiving your offer of admission from CUHK, you will be sent the a letter of certificate of enrollment with which you can apply for a student visa. After receiving the offer as an international student, all the information will be in the package. Just follow the steps. This should be straightforward ! Good luck; waiting for your good news.

There were only 3 law schools in HK and I applied for CUHK and HKU.
Parents strongly wanted me to do law so I wanted to fulfill their wishes.
The reason I chose HKU was that the entry rate to PCLL (practice certificate for lawyers) is relatively higher,
giving me higher chance to become a solicitor. But many things happened, so I didn't go onto that path

I found one that translate RM120 per page, is that price consider expensive or normal?
