Interesting topic =) As I am interested to study in HK too.
Anyone applied to go to study in HK this year?
Do anyone know any education loans that are allowed for the course that are not recognized by JPA?

You can try to apply for the HK Government Bursary, iinm. Most HK Universities do have education loans, so it shouldn't be too hard to get, as long as your grade is acceptable (i.e. not sterling).

I'm not too sure about other loans though. Forgive my ignorance.

~Cheers!

Hey I applied before and got accepted.
Which course did you apply for? (or in which field in general?)
*
Hi Angela,

I applied for Creative Media and I got accepted already too.
Which Uni and course u got accepted?
When are you going there?
Have you start applying for visa, I wonder where to get some docs translated with a not so expensive price.

HKU Law. I was given only two weeks to respond to the offer so I couldn't make a decision so it elapsed.
I know that the process for visa and everything should be very easy for international students.
They have included all of the documents in the offer package.
I think they will have the student visa arranged for you so that you can temporary stay in Hong Kong for your studies!
Will you be starting in September 2011? That's very exciting isn't it?
*
I see, so are you re-applying? Since you mention you change major.
Yea, I am going for Semester A this coming September 2011, excited yes.
Seems quite a lot of Malaysian students are going to HK to study nowadays.
But my field, I haven't heard of yet.

That great Puiyee. Are you going there with friends/family?
I am not reapplying for study in HK at this stage because I still have other obligations to finish off  smile.gif
Hope to go there in the future if possible. I know that the study there is quite intense though.
Are you staying in a student accommodation with the university or renting?
I think it would be better to stay as a border. That's a lot less hassles!
*
I am goin there alone, as most of my ex-coursemates has all finish further studying.
I worked a few years and now continue.
Will be staying in the student accomodation, cheapest choice available.
Outside are just too costly.

May I know why you chose HKU for law at first?

Icic. I am guessing you are doing postgraduate studies right?
Yeah. These days renting is quite expensive; hard to afford.
Have you checked the university accommodation yet? Is it affordable?
*
Haha, undergrad still...kinda too old for that tho.
Yea checked, quite ok, best option already, less den HKD5k a term.

Sorry I forgot to answer your question...
There were only 3 law schools in HK and I applied for CUHK and HKU.
Parents strongly wanted me to do law so I wanted to fulfill their wishes.
The reason I chose HKU was that the entry rate to PCLL (practice certificate for lawyers) is relatively higher,
giving me higher chance to become a solicitor. But many things happened, so I didn't go onto that path  smile.gif

Well, I am glad and hopefully u r soon doin what u wish for and not wat other wished u did, as if u choose wat u wish to do, u will do better and more passionate towards it. =)

I am applying for CUHK IFAA course( Insurance, finance and Actuarial Analysis) but haven't received any reply yet. I guess my chance of getting in is very slim as the course is very competitive. By the way, congrats for getting admitted. Regarding applying visa, I have no idea about that. Maybe Angela can give you some guide about that.
*
Hope u get an offer soon too!
Anyway, I need to get my docs to be translated into english to apply for visa, need to find a not so expensive one, wonder who knows anywhere?
I found one that translate RM120 per page, is that price consider expensive or normal?

Studying abroad in Hong Kong taught me that our assumptions about foreign cities are usually wrong — and that they can be changed by spending time letting the city change you.....

Oh, can u share some interesting experience?

Hi, may I know when should we apply to University of Hong Kong for 2012 intake? Is the deadline at the end of the year 2011? And what are the grades requirement for A-Levels? The university website is not helpful at all.  wink.gif

I see the website still say they having information day soon. So perhaps application will start after that, best if just keep checking on the website. Is always good to apply earlier.
