i m 30'
i m an interior designer and concept designer.
mostly my concept design clients is movie production / post production company and game studio.
but i still got work under effect company like ILM, WETA DIGITAL, BLUR and some few more base on project basis.
most of my job is professional cg contract.
but hav to travel around sometime.
sometime even doing some comic concept too.
most of my job is under NDA.

maybe start some basic body structure drawing will help.
FRANK FRAZETTA artwork can be your research too.
most of the drawing now is manga base, mean no proper composition or visual structure.
maybe the influnce of the manga market.

but overall concept designer is different from illustrator coz the idea/concept it sell not the artwork.

Nah.

Obviously WIP.

some random drawing i found the the DA while browsing.

after seeing it, i knew i had to color it in.. haha.

ended up with this.


originally i gave her hair a brownish orange hue, but my hard drive crashed and everything else had gone with the wind also. took me a couple of hours again to get the right facial color, still not that satisfied with it.
i call her Vermillion.. haha, after that song from Slipknot.

very nice work and origin.
well pencil stroke.
good balancing i would say but only some minor like the character size is some offset from another at scale.

wish to see it in complete color.
well done.

Anime artwork i did out of boredom. (more likely because i missed playing the game ;__; )

I would say that the scale variation was intentional, but if its too jarring to the point that you commented on it, that means it should be fixed. Which char in particular you think doesn't fit in scale?

*not little elf girl tho, she's supposed to be small. XD

hi,
u notice the center giant man wit spec?
he is too good to wear spec. maybe without spec.
coz the giant/stronghold wear spec look bit sissy. and your character look like vey polite, sort of professor or mentor type character design.
etc: xmen colossus wear spec

yeah he's more of a 'kind green giant' kind of large guy in terms of personality. like a large bookworm geekboy. Maybe I made him TOO docile looking, I'll try to fix it. Thx!

Now you mention about him, I'm starting to see some problems, from the overall pic PoV, he does seem too large and spoils the composition cuz he's standing out too much in the middle of the frame. ie. 'Rule of Thirds' composition clash.

1st you need to learn about lightning
light source
start with black and white so you could capture the highlight or so
