QUOTE(cymon @ Sep 7 2008, 01:33 AM) very nice work and origin. thx for the comments bro.well pencil stroke. good balancing i would say but only some minor like the character size is some offset from another at scale. wish to see it in complete color. well done. I would say that the scale variation was intentional, but if its too jarring to the point that you commented on it, that means it should be fixed. Which char in particular you think doesn't fit in scale? *not little elf girl tho, she's supposed to be small. XD Thx! This post has been edited by slumberus: Sep 7 2008, 04:22 AM |

yeah he's more of a 'kind green giant' kind of large guy in terms of personality. like a large bookworm geekboy. Maybe I made him TOO docile looking, I'll try to fix it. Thx!
Now you mention about him, I'm starting to see some problems, from the overall pic PoV, he does seem too large and spoils the composition cuz he's standing out too much in the middle of the frame. ie. 'Rule of Thirds' composition clash. |

QUOTE(animous @ Oct 17 2008, 12:08 AM) Due to somehow sloww internet connection.. the example picture all loaded halfway.. very frustrated. Also cause my search for flower pattern brush end up failure. I'll try again later. Tq for pointing out the links~ Comment, accept it if u wish : The light source (sunset/rise) is at the background yet the leaves & girl is illuminated up front. Being the strongest light source around (sunset/rise) the whole scene should be very warm which is true for the entire background, yet the girl is more of a florescent light color scheme. They don't mix very well, both the girl and the background.Tq. But even the latest Painter X does not support Dual Core processor yet, so I guess Photoshop is much faster than Painter. I can do my art in PS, open up to 25 tabs of webpage in firefox, Antivirus (Avira) scan, plus mp3 and apache webserver. still ok exept when painting the mp3 will somehow stuck2 a bit. haha. becoz fedup [attachmentid=632801] Added on October 19, 2008, 4:40 pmbackground and lighting tweak finished.. now left is the kimono flower .. will add as i hav free time... |

yeah. Girl has much improved. It might help if the highlights on the trees is reduced. its clashing with the girl as the main focus point because the light tones of the leaves and the girl's kimono are too similar. (meaning if you greyscale the picture, you see the whites of the leaves are the same with the girl)

QUOTE(animous @ Oct 23 2008, 07:20 AM) @aizen - good work. but if if its me, I'll do all the details on the paper first then scan so that the pc will only be used for coloring process. its very good though you did that with only a mouse. Actually leave the grass as it its. As an object gets further than you. it tends to be more less saturated and clear. (think of those mountain landscapes, diff depth = diff saturation.) Also grass with high chroma will start to clash with the girl and the foreground leaves again. Okay slumberus.. ive fixed the lighting problems and also some gaps here and there. Also fix incorrect hue for the grass. Tq for ur comments and critique. It does improve me alot, although its not really good yet. Btw do u guys know where i can find info about art educations? I really like to know more about how lighting, gravity and stuffs work. Or maybe a good book u guys would like to recommend? XD http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm Here's a good guide about lighting and stuff by Prometheus of conceptart.org. Scroll down and you see the contents.
