I guess the Benq is good. It is actually quite important to have Core2Duo instead of Dual-Core. It really makes a difference. And the other two choices I ASSUME the specs are really low. Unless it is purely for microsoft office and surfing the web ONLY> then I think better get the Benq.
Intel X3100 if not mistaken is onboard graphics. Means not good for programs that need fast image processing. Dell XPS uses that only for the lower priced XPS. Mainly coz business ppl who does not play games and use for office programs will only need a good processor(which XPS has).
It is normal to have different specs from what u see on website. So dont worry so much bout that.

Oh. Both is Core 2 Duo. So i think if like that the only difference between Benq and the other 2 is the graphic card option. If u use for normal use like typing documents and surfing web then Compaq is good. Lenova so far I read ppl go for the thinkpad and not the ideapad.
If u intend to get compaq please check whether it is refurbished or not. Refurbished only gives u 90 days warranty.
And also 1GB ram most probably not enuf if u running windows vista.
Try consider Asus. Kinda cool also

Congrats. This is so far the only notebook I've found that comes with 10 band EQ adjustments on Vista. It uses Sigmatel IDT audio. All the other notebooks come with either Conexant or Realtek. Conexant doesn't have EQ settings on any version of Windows, whereas Realtek only offer it on Windows XP (hence my reluctance to switch to Vista). 10 band EQ really makes a great difference in online video-viewing and gaming.

Hi guys,
I'm doing 3D animation for my major next semester, so i need a list of laptop with powerful performance that can handle intense 3d special effectsable to run Unreal 3 editor smoothly, and run 3d Max and Photoshop CS3 at the same time without much problem or even slowing the performance.

I also enjoy heavy gaming when I'm free, so I wouldn't like to have the computer to reboot , sudden Blue Screen of Death, and even to unable to run any other games after one game crashes ( it's like directX got "freeze" or something, for my case it's always while playing DotA)

Brand: As long they can provide good service and warranty, I'm a noob at choosing brand after all.

Budget: Maximum around Rm 8k, perhaps less, need to negotiate more.

Specs: Of course I would say the latest, but heck, as long it is able to run intense 3d work (specs for heavy gaming comes second), with about 2 Gb Ram large disk space as well (I do keep lots of stuff in my old laptop)

BTW, I know newer laptops comes with Windows Vista, but is it still possible to buy with Windows XP instead?

Thanks in advance. smile.gif

For your needs I think everyone here would suggest the BenQ S41 with Nvidia 8600.

Ok, save for the Dell guy up there.

I also want hdmi, but only Asus laptops got HDMI port.

if budget below 3k, very hard to get. If you find a laptop with hdmi under 3k, send me a pm.

If u really want the HDMI port on low budget, the Dell I 1525 comes with one, and easily configured well under the 3k mark.
