Ok,a few question for a potential player:

1.How much does this game's gameplay different from other RTS like WiC,CoH or DoW?
2.Is this game really worth buying and playing?
3.Is this game suitable for a RTS fan like me?It seems like Civ 4 in real time + Homeworld  to me rather than tradisional RTS like CoH.
*
1) Very different. The scope of this game is bigger hence the game speed is much much slower than a normal RTS.
2) Yes it is worth getting if you are into these kinda games. It will destroy your live though tongue.gif
3) Your assumption is correct. It is definetely a 4X and RTS hybrid that emphasis on the strategy more than the tactics. The tactics in this game is there but it is not as elaborate as say CoH. But the scope of the game is bigger and according to many this game is more accesible to many more people compared to Galciv. You could like it...but only way to know is to try it...you will have to wait.

So,i could say that Sins is a macro based RTS while RTS like CoH,DoW,WiC is more micro based.Am i right?

Besides,is the gameplay similar to Homeworrld's gameplay?

Im thinking of just getting the a*hem version or demo before i buy.It does sounds good and different from other RTS.There one thing i will definitely hate is:it's time consuming. The same problem as Homeworld but i still play it.

Sins is not Homeworld. Homeworld was purely RTS. You are right on the focus of the game...more macro. So Sins is a balance between the two. The only way to put it is like this...Strategy games are always fighting with the tactical and strategic depth right? Some games go the tactical route...and some the much bigger strategic route(like most turn based strategy games). The ones that go big strategy compromises on the tactical side and the games that are more tactical compromises on the big strategic view. Sins is like the balance in between. That is why i had to say it is not as deep tactically to say CoH/WiC or even Homeworld. It has the cool elements of turn based strategy games. The cool factor is really strategizing your research path, your empire expansion(most RTS dont have these). And unlike TBS you can create fleet, use capital ship special abilities to give an edge over enemies.(most TBS games obviously cant do this).

Thats why Sins is so hard to describe since it does something that no other game has done before by marrying the two. I think many people will say SIns feels more like a turn based game and it does but the real time elements kinda pushes it into a category of its own...

PS : BTW For those that feel the pace of the game is slow. You can change the game speed obviously. Personally for me the normal speed is perfect.

I guess Sins is also in the oddball hybrid category, just like WiC which is a bit like normal RTS but have some of the BF's genes in it.

Hope they release the demo fast.I want to try this game before getting it.

1 of the developer used an even older lappie specs to demo it to the gamers crowd at a convention if not mistaken...
this a is pretty good example of well optimized codes with reasonable graphics

much better than some half-a$$ big name games with great graphics but lots of bugs.

though the lack of an engaging single player campaign story might be turn off to some ppl, unlike homeworld and homeworld 2 which has a great storyline besides the revolutionary game system at tat time

nv regretted paying 44.95+ USD for the online download, though i dun have much time on hand to go play with other players online yet

Yeah,EA's marketing>>>>>>Stardock's marketing.EA's marketing is too good till even a dull feature sounds interesting in preview.

If Stardock have EA's marketing ability,i think it might be the best game of the year.

Ahhhhh!!!! I want the demo now.Does Stardock/Iron Clad has a forum?

1) -AI is good. AI holds up well when compared to Galciv...which is a big testament to the creators(Galciv has phenomenal AI)
-Learning curve is surprisingly lower than say Civ4. UI is absolute brilliant and the game doesnt punish you if you        dont know certain things...
-Difficulty is scalable as in you can make it easy or you can make it really challenging. But i warn you for a new player even easy can be a challenge. The more AI there is in the map the more challengin it will be too...for some AI dynamic reasons which is too much for me to elaborate.

2)The map is randomly generated and the map is also fixed tongue.gif What i mean to say is that you can randomly generate a map or you can choose to play in a large numbers a premade maps shipped with the game(from varying size...good variety of map). Heck if that not enough you can make you own map! I've seen some insanely huge maps(user made) with some 160 stars!!! something like 5 galaxies!!!

thanks for the reply.

Still, the AI seems to use 1 familiar tactic: the stack-of-doom, lots of unit in 1 attacking stack. I love it in Civ4 when the AI sends one of those, nothing like finding the correct tactic to kill them all in 1 turn biggrin.gif (if not, its game over sad.gif).

Random generated maps means lots of replayability. I'm still playing civ4 from its release till now, dunno when I'm going to get bored of it wink.gif

What about game speed? Does it have different speed ( slow, normal ,fast) or even pausing during gameplay? It must be annoying when you're busy micromanaging your planets when the AI/pirates keeps harassing you.

Yeah they are aren't they rclxms.gif Those buggers didn't even sleep on launch day...many were online in the forum tongue.gif For me the top three companies that work well with the community are Stardock, Ironclad and Massive Entertainment. Great guys...

Patience...those guys must be working on the demo too:w

Those are called phase lanes...and yes you must use them to travel in between planets...its a needed gameplay mechanic to avoid certain gameplay problems...
