I heard W400 series 32" also is FullHD 1920 x 1080.
And its made in Malaysia?

Just realised this. I read somewhere that the 32" is only 8 bit panel unlike the other W models.

That's why you need to get the D series...it uses 10-bit panel...even for 32"

^ I tried connecting my notebook to it using HDMI and enable 1:1 pixel mapping on the W400. Here's what I noticed. If u sit about 6 feet away, its 'pretty' good BUT its not as good as LCD monitors (e.g the 24"  Dell that I use for my PC).
Having said that, I've not tried a "TEXT" mode and I did not try connecting using the D-SUB (VGA) connector. Sometimes I wonder if its practical to use a 40" as a PC monitor.  smile.gif

I forgot to add : Don't pay anything more than RM7000 for the 40" W400.

welwitchia, can you test to see if your 40" outputs 1080p using component? biggrin.gif Just curious since I plan to play HD content through my notebook which has VGA out but does not have HDMI or DVI. I understand with the proper cables, VGA can breakout to component. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I guess if you were going for 32", 1080p does not matter. D series is a better buy then.

I'm currently itching for the 46W400A (or the Sharp 46" A63). Kena racun because I saw it side by side against the 40". doh.gif

I can try out the VGA connection.. as for component, I don't have any component devices.. used to have the Xbox 360 but it liked me so much that it decides to give me 3 red lights every time I turn it on (yea, even though all my games are 100% original) so I told MS to F off.

I was contemplating on the 46" Sharp too but i think what made me buy the Sony is the 10bit panel and 1080p/24.

LOL, i just added a picture i took with the crappy iPhone camera. Was watching The Kingdom DVD last night. Not a bad movie.

biggrin.gif VGA would do fine. Thanks. Does the W series have direct VGA connection? If yes, better for me. I was under the impression it did not have and hence have to use VGA ---> component.

I'm also leaning towards the Sony. The Sharp was showing the same Bluray promo disc and somewhat briefly got to compare it against the Sony. The colours were not as vibrant (maybe a little setting here and there) and fast scenes were not as smooth as the Sony.

The A63 does not have 10bit panel? Also no 1024p/24? Price wise, both the A63 and W400A series seem to be about the same... hmm.gif

No wonder u're always at the Blu-ray thread. I have to avoid that thread for the time being. All the talk about DTS-HD MA is bad for the mental health.
BTW, what receiver are u using RX? biggrin.gif
