I'm getting my keys in 3-months time and plan to do the following extension for my DSH: -

1) Ground floor full-extension 22ft x 11ft (currently split into 2 parts) - 1 side is wet-kitchen and the other side is bedroom; and

2) 1st floor full extension 22ft x 11ft (currently split into 2 bedrooms) - The split is not required for extension, which eventually will create a "U" shape (joint) 2 bedrooms together.

I presume total of 5 walls to be hacked and tiles supply are required too. Any sifus here can estimate the renovation cost for me? icon_question.gif

I'm from Penang and I plan to add an additional "half floor" to my terrace house second living room. The second living room come with a very high ceiling and window at the very top for ventilation. I'm planning to add the "half-floor" as a:
- storage area
- to clean the window
- a place for me to relax

My problem is that I've already moved in and I'm not sure how messy will the renovation job be and how long it'll take.

I'll be glad if someone can advise me on the type of partition material to use (wood, steel, concrete?), the rough cost, the time needed, and how dirty will the job be. Thanks.

Hi there !

Just wanna find out , normally for custom made wardrobe . those they measure and fitted according to ur needs and according to the wall . is it normal to have 3-4cm gap in between two sliding doors ?

it seems that is the standard wardrobe rail in the market when I asked my contractor ?

is it true ? Need some clarification

Hi all,

Do you know for the last 2 years how much price increase is it in the market to do renovation, e.g. doing carpentry work for kitchen cabinet & wardrobe, M&E work, etc..
The reason I am asking this is because I have done renovation 2 years ago, now I want to engage ID to do design and build for my new condo. They said that the price has increased A LOT ( they mentioned that 2 years ago with 100k they could do a lot of things, now only basic things).
Would appreciate if someone could give very rough figure on this....:-)

Nothing is cheap now. What rough figure you need? our currency is weak, and many raw material are traded in international market price sure following market rate.

Hi weikee,

Rough figure in the sense that suppose you do renovation (mostly carpentry work) 2 years ago, it costs let's say 50K. For the same scope of work, how much will it cost now approximately? Will it be 75K (50% increase), 60K (20% increase)?

50% should be around that range, but for the same quality 2 years ago, maybe higher. You need to go survey, I don't do renovation every year. Only actual contractor or ID will be able to advice.

i just meet my contractor, he told me it need more than 50% extra for the same work on my house if i going to do it again now.
