Hey guys,
I would like to know how much exactly the price for plumbing? I would like to change all the water pipes for my house. 4 bathrooms & Kitchen? 2000square feet.
But the contractor quote me 6.8k And he say i need to fully renovate the house cause need hack/break the walls and floor tiles ( basically everything) Which mean i need to change floor tiles, repaint the whole house again. Then i might as well change the interior design of the house since it was 19years old with outdated design.
Any suggestion? =P Any plumber or interior designer here too?
thank you

Your description is so brief, how to advice? It can range from 10k to unlimited. Better have more detail. e.g. - How many wall to hack - Tiles area - Type of material to use for kitchen cabinet - New tiles area - New lighting points - Plaster ceiling - etc..

One point to note when you've engaged a contractor to do your plumbing work is to ensure that they use sirim stamped upvc pipe.
There are cheaper pipes out there but the thickness and strength is not the same. The cheaper ones break easily whereas the more expensive one is more durable.
Saw my parents neighbour get cheap ass pipes which cracked after it was buried in the ground.

Hi All,
After ordering a new kitchen unit to place my old one at my condo in Penang I decided to retile the kitchen wall, replacing the water pipe for the entire unit covering the dry area, kitchen and 2 bathrooms and renovate the master bedroom. Quotation received is as follows:
1) Piping cost .. RM2.9K 2) Tiling of kitchen approx 100 sq ft (hacking & laying cost) .. RM2.2K 3) Tiling of bathroom wall 6’x7’x6’ (hacking & laying cost) .. RM3.3K 4) Tiling of bathroom floor 6’x7’ (hacking & laying cost) .. RM1.5K 5) Labour cost for removal of bathtub at master bedroom .. RM450.00 6) Labour cost for removal of old WC and installation of new WC .. RM250.00. I
Appreciate comments and provide your estimate to the following:
1) Is the cost of piping reasonable – item 1?
2) Tiling cost items 2 – 4 appear excessive based on what I followed from this forum, If correct what should be the reasonable charge?
3) Item 5 – do I have to pay for the removal. If yes, what is the reasonable amount?
4) Item 6 – the charge of RM250 appears excessive. If correct, please advise what should be the reasonable amount?
Hope to have these input so that I can negotiate with the contractor or seek an alternative quote from another contractor.
Thank you
