nickdf9818 : Your "Siu Keung" really very small leh. Hmm.. after reading what FatCat said about food poisoning, looks like I will prefer more on feeding pellets to my tortoises. But will still feed them green mustard once in a while.
beycont : There are still 2 or 3 russian tortoises at 88pets at Pandan Indah. Hmmm.. Last time there got a Libyan Greek Tortoise. A bit regret for didn't buy it. Nobody here got Golden Greek Tortoise? Now I'm waiting for the chance to buy Cherry Head Red Footed. Elmo : Hmmm.. I agree with you. Last time I was at the Pets Safari there, myself also very surprised to see the 2 ally snappers there with such a cheap price. I couldn't believe my eyes so stare for very long time and after a while, noticed that they are actually common snappers. It's their mistake coz label it wrongly. But I think Common Snapper is also a very interesting turtle. Compared to Ally Snapper, I think Common Snapper is more active and more aggressive. Saw some videos about common snapper at youtube, it's amazing to see how common snapper chase and hunt for their foods!!!!! |

QUOTE(Jamien @ Mar 28 2008, 10:29 PM) Yesterday I gave her her first "bath" to scrub off any growing algae of her shell. It is not recommended to brush ally snapper's shell with a toothbrush, better if you provide a good filtration system for the turtle.QUOTE(Jamien @ Mar 28 2008, 11:25 PM) I think she scared cuz it's the frst time she got brushed. She's still small so I think no need worry till a lot later. And yes, common more scary. Hehe... Their shell have this very sensitive nerves that might hurt them, that's why they try to do so.QUOTE(inexsis @ Mar 29 2008, 10:10 AM) so if i always put food in their food dish(SAWI)...its ok or not ? Sawi is okay, since it is high in fiber.they will eat everyday and everytime they want......still confius here QUOTE(ELM0 @ Mar 29 2008, 07:44 PM) how much do you guys feed your snappers last time i used to feed them 20-30 of small feeding fish per week. now i only have res so their diet is different.as in quantity like 2 to 3 pieces of frozen blood worms/ prawns??? QUOTE(ELM0 @ Mar 31 2008, 06:27 PM) those feeder fish looks big Maybe u need to feed it with smaller feeder fish.my big snapper catch 2 of them in the small tank but when snap them already cant fit in too big then those let the snapper claw scratch til half dead the snapper duwan care about them haha go catch new 1 but now at the new big blue pool, hardly able catch 1 T_T |

QUOTE(nickdf9818 @ Apr 1 2008, 10:00 AM) RIP QUOTE(squareballs @ Apr 1 2008, 11:41 PM) Rinse should be enough. 1 more thing to take note, better if you choose those vege that have those bite marks by bugs. Meaning they dont use pesticide on their farm. |

Could dai86's ST's prob be due to lack of calcium? coz its kinda hard for a tort's shell to be so vulnerable unless it was on purpose rite?

QUOTE(ELM0 @ Apr 1 2008, 09:15 PM) Please try NOT to feed your pets with LONGKANG fish. They are full with bacteria, virus & etc as their habitat is in Longkang, im sure everyone know how dirty the Longkang its self rite? Unless you quarentine the Longkang fish for fewdays in yellow powder or any anti-bacteria water. But this also wont guarentee 100% safe. I had very bad experience with Longkang fish which cause few of my baby Chili Red Arowana died after feed by Longkang fish ELMO : maybe you can try to buy some Prawn from the market, cut them to small pieces ( dont peel off their skin, its calsium ) then wash with salt water properly.... then wash again with clean water few times. Then you can slowly try to feed you Common Snapper. You can try not to feed them for few days then you try this method. Good Luck |

QUOTE(Fat^Cat @ Apr 2 2008, 09:04 AM) ELMO : maybe you can try to buy some Prawn from the market, cut them to small pieces ( dont peel off their skin, its calsium ) Crustacean skins consist of a combination of mostly chitin and some calcium. Not sure if a turtle can actually benefit from this(chitin passes thru most animal's digestive system without breaking down much). But since you're talking about a snapper, I'm guessing it's still a safe food item. Prawns are known for containing high levels of iron, zinc, iodine, phosphorous, potassium and vitamin B12.
