QUOTE(rafiqos @ Jul 31 2008, 04:13 PM) QUOTE(rafiqos @ Aug 1 2008, 09:01 PM) My supplier has some on his list for RM 2++ a pc sub-adult to adult size !! My friend has some in his collection and keep/feed them as if they are Malayan Boxie !!! But do remember to keep them seperate ( C.ambo and C. Galbinifrons ) as they do and will mate and hybrid among themselves This post has been edited by SAMPERTH: Aug 1 2008, 09:04 PM |

Wow. That's interesting to know. They're an awesome species that rarely get the appreciation they deserve.
Is it safe to presume they're just as tolerant and hardy as C. Ambo? I have read somewhere that they are the least aquatic among the boxies. How would you deal with internal parasites in this particular species? |

QUOTE(rafiqos @ Aug 1 2008, 11:07 PM) Wow. That's interesting to know. They're an awesome species that rarely get the appreciation they deserve. All new WC animals are unpredictable ( if they are weak they are not as hardy ) Even C.ambo can be fragile at times as new WC !!Is it safe to presume they're just as tolerant and hardy as C. Ambo? I have read somewhere that they are the least aquatic among the boxies. How would you deal with internal parasites in this particular species? Yes they are less aquatic (most Cuora sp are like that as they reach adulthood ) only the male lurk in the water (spent more time in water as adults than female ) waiting for female to mate ( they mate in water ) !!! As for internal parasites - you have to worm them ( as with all Wc aniamls ) There are a few subspecies for Cuora galbinifrons ie Cuora galbinifrons picturata ,C. g. bouretti and C. g. galbinifrons They are much more colourful than our local Malayan boxie !!! |

I think it's a tortoise rescue and the sulcata was lack of calcium when it arrived

OMG :hyper_shok: The poor sulcata. Sigh... Hope it gets a better owner.
Anyway, yesterday my ally snapper went missing after we left it to bask for about half an hour. Was looking high and low and was on the verge of giving up (even more than ever since I lost 2 turtles before). After 2 hours of searching finally found her in the sewer deep inside and not noticeable at all. Geez, gave me a heart attack. This post has been edited by Jamien: Aug 2 2008, 02:54 PM |

to have such pyramiding, and still able to live until the size as the picture suggests, is definitely amazing.
like lessilly said, some people really like pyramidings in tortoises, perhaps they have the idea that it's cool to have bumps on the shells? but most of the time these people don't really know a lot about tortoises, so i guess we can forgive them for their ignorance... |
