I'm new to dSLR and planning to get 450D with lens kit. Anyone can summarize everything up and tell me if it's a better camera than Nikon D60 or Sony Alpha300?

I did and that's what makes me confused.. can't decide between Nikon D60\D80 or Canon 450D. Already cross out Sony..

i prefer canon 450D compare to D60.. but its hard to choose between D80 n 450D..

for ease of mind , get a 40D.. =P

D60 lack body auto focus motor... dun buy
when u need auto focus u need to depend on lens motor only
so some lens u need to manual focus

So it's either 450D vs D80, right?

450D is only 7 months old.. compare to D80 which is about 2 years plus.

D80 has 11 focus point while 450D has 9 focus point.

D80 is more expensive by RM500.

I heard Nikon lenses are generally sharper than Canon's.

Is it worth it paying extra RM500 for older technology?

D80.. good ISO handling.. if ask me choose canon, if budget, 400D.. if extra budget, 40D..

Went to Canon shop today and asked about 400D and 450D. The guy told me that the extra on 450D are only live view, extra 2MP and the lens packaged with the kit has IS. That's about it. The price different is about RM700. Is it worth taking 450D now?

Anyway they're selling for RM3099 for 450D lens kit, with extended 3 years warranty (extra 2 years) + insurance from Canon in case the camera got stolen.

there's alot of added function compare to 400D...u have to google and make some comparison...normally those shop tauke just wanna sell off their old set faster and persuade u to buy the old stuff.. like yesterday, i just found out a cool function in my 450D, the noise reduction which works very good on high iso...

i would suggest u to do more market survey on the price as well...i get my 450D with kitlens for 2850 only...the warranty, just leave it unfilled and u can have extra warranty already...correct me if im wrong... the insurance? never heard of it rather than MAA insurance which cover up total lost sum to rm500 only...

That's what one of the shop owner told me about the warranty. He said leave it blank and only write it down when need to claim warranty. I think the shop was offering me the same.. around 2800+ region. Need to confirm again.

I'm basically going for 450D cause

D60 only has 3 focus point.

D80 has 11 focus point but heard it does not has that "anti dust" function built in.

400D is suppose to be replaced by 1000D in September. (1000D has 7 focus point, 10MP and doesn't look as "pro" look as 450D)
but it does come cheaper.

I'm new to dSLR. Is there any classes or seminar conducted by Canon for users like me? I seen Nikon & Sony does these before.

well...9 af point for 450D is enough for me...i dun find extra 2 points make a huge different...

i dont know about the 1000D..its not in the market yet... but i know if i was to choose again, i will stick to 450D...for the reason of its almost a baby of 40D...i would go for 40D if budget allows and the body is not burden for my hand...(HEAVY)

u need class? i guess no...but canon just held a fair in few states...and its ended...

all u need is alot of outing organized by peeps here...u learn alot from them...

the web tutorial is free to explore and read...youtube, metacafe...for video tutorial and alots more...

not to forget 450D uses DIGICIII while 400D still DIGICII

where did u get urs? apparently mine is like tht...but i didnt take tht red color bag...cuz it looks cacat...so i took another smaller bag instead

Now, after 2 months of using, the paint near the battery cover starts flicking off....dont kno why....anyone of u facing tht?

Plus the 450D's casing very soft. I got a few scratches at the left side near the screen and at the +/- button....i dont kno....u guys having the same problem?

I'll take 450D anytime. But D80 is very tempting too..

Dont scare me ok? Canon 450D so cacat? just after 2 mths of using the paint started to flicking off?

the reason i took the red colour bag because i want my bag looks different with others
normally they are using black colour rite ... then my one is red colour


by the way .. i never face any problem in these 3 weeks .. my camera is still the same .. like new one

Buy camera in penang can use credit card for zero interest installment? any one have info?
