fact: PS3 has not been launched yet globally. What people bought is a fake imitation of PS2 from China. Sony never made any PS3 laa.

The girl at SonyStyle KLCC told me that it was the government that has not approved the PS3.

She told me, Sony is actually eager to launch since months.

Added on January 24, 2008, 10:10 pmimo, there is always some priority regions for PlayStation in Asia, they will focus on TW, HK, then Singapore. We are placed in the place same as thailand, vietnam, philipines and china. Possible reasons, our buying power isn't as strong as other priority countries, and rampant piracy here.

The very fact that customs has cleared thousands of PS3's into our shores for retailers shows that the government probably has no qualms about the PS3. My guess is that low software sales from their PSone and PS2 lineup has caused Sony to ignore the Malaysian market for now. While it may be irrelevant to the consumer, the statistics presented to the higher ups in the corporation are the factors that determine their global marketing strategy.

Yup, softwares sales is the problem. Look at the PSP games, there are RM99 games on display there, and some of the newer title actually matches PA or local stores prices, but still nobody buy it. And every time I told people I actually save up to buy a game for RM170, they shake their head like I have just done something stupid. If people don't buy a RM99 game they will not buy a RM199 PS3 game. Of course Sony My will launch PS3, but that's when Blu-ray awareness is higher here, and I think that's the only think that will push PS3 sales here....

u really think all those ps3 tat come in are custom cleared thru the right channel? if its brought in the proper channel, the 40gb PS3 would @ least cost u 1.6k and above liao

sirim or dunno wat department need to approve this console one, like spore with their IDA to be sold locally. they have to go thru certain channels and declare the console to find out which category of tax category it belongs in

from wat i see, in jaybee , blu rays user not as little as i think, wen to a few AV shops, seems tat many ppl are buyin the bluray player nowadays

Actually i asked Sony KLCC about the way they sold their games...

One guy said that the PSP was good the thing is noone want to buy..


Then i said..."Why not take the effort to make the sale"...everybody in the Sony shop walking like zombies not doing anything remotely helpful..


Best Denki in comparison...have staff who are cheery and helpful...one guy stuck with me and my dad for an hour looking at HDTVs...

Sony in my mind should have a gaming division here in Malaysia...it will probably help their sales from their stores..

yep...it should be Sony Computer Entertainment Malaysia(SCEM).

By gaming division i mean the sales... get volunteers from the community to spread the word and what not..

Sony Malaysia in my opinion is lacking when it comes their sales staff...

ahaha..their staff like to hang out and do nothing rather than approach people in their store.

I still remember then i go and try out MGS2 for the first time at Sony KLCC back in 2001. Their staff just stand at the cashier counter without doing anything. Then, maybe im too good with MGS2(even for a first time), they turn off the tv and act like nothing happen.

Shouldn't they at least approach me and give some offer or explanation about PS2 at that moment?

Sony Malaysia are inept to say the least, they are poorly trained and lets face it...they are about as interesting as a pair of socks...

I honestly cannot believe that Sony would hire these people. I still remember...I played tekken 4 with my friend...

The staff just stood there in front of the doorway and not doing anything...we played that game for about 2 hours without being stopped. the only reason why we left is cause we got bored by the staff...

maybe if we ask about Walkman or Laptop or even Cybershot, they can help up ...but when it come to games division,...they fail miserably. The only impression i have is "they seriously doest take any initiative to learn some of the company product"


oh and one more thing, maybe they WILL approach a customer is he/she looks rich enough . Me only wear plain tshirt with jeans and sandal..too bad they didnt know the amount of money i have in my wallet

Sony My is in the business to make profit, and games probably make up only 0.001% of their revenue pie chart. So no chance for SCEM

But if they put gaming stuff on display/sale, at least get somebody who actually knows something about it to station there. Not clueless boys who care only about the SE phones....

or at least someone who have the initiative to seek information about the product station there. I hate the answer "this one is for showcase only" and when we ask further question they say "im sorry, i dont know"
