Ok we know PS3 no piracy and cannot be modded (for now). So why is the price difference?
I'm working in KLCC, so I went to two shops here... 40GB PS3 is like skyhigh and I know that PS3 is around RM13XX.

And btw... why Sony shop must sell so expensive? Isn't that their own product? can sell cheaper right?

If the own product selling cheaper then who will the 'others' sell your product since you can drag all the customer

I think maybe he is confused. I don't think Sony has launched PS3 yet. If then it must be latest news, but I doubt.

Could be he saw the price at Mediaplex, KLCC. I don't know if they are selling PS3 there, but I saw mediaplex at Midvalley Megamall selling at RM1,999/- with one free game. But then they said no warranty, you have to claim it yourself... I almost laughed .

The other small shops selling at RM1,3xx (without game) but at least they can help you claim warranty fr S'pore (that's normally what they promise but you decide whether they really will).

Assuming the PS3 is launched in Malaysia, whether it's sold by Sony or by their agents, it's still Sony's products. They still make money from the agents' sales. But of course they can't sell cheaper than their agents or else the agents won't be able to sell. Sony instead will provide better service and warranty.

Currently those selling PS3 at RM1,3xx are not authorised agents because they are getting their sets from S'pore and selling over at Malaysia. They have to sell at cheap price because the shop won't give you warranty, they only promise to help you claim warranty from S'pore which might sometimes take a couple of months.

Don't know if he is mistaken or not. But if really true then it will be interesting how much they will price the 40GB model.

Let me digest this... So if I'm buying a PS3 from not authorised agents... I will have problem with warranty although the set is original... unless the seller is willing to helpout send to s'pore and dun know how many weeks it's gonna take.

Reason i want ori bcoz i dun know if PS3 will get yellow lights of death or any kinda death...

I went to 3 sony shops and their sales ppl know nothing about PS3.

Your are absolutely right.

The reason why Sony shop ppl know nothing is because the PS3 has not been launched yet. What that simply means is that Sony Malaysia and their agents are currently not selling the PS3 here in Malaysia. And as such they have no means of providing warranty for a product they are not selling over here.

All those shops selling PS3 are buying from S'pore and as such you will have a problem with warranty. But that does not mean you can't take the risk and hope for the best, like so many people have done

there is no non original PS3 sets
only problem is warranty, tats it

because it's very unlikely that the firmware is crackable, it's a better idea to buy PS3 from local Sony if it's made available already.

Yes, Visva, do take note. There's no such thing as non-roiginal sets. All PS3 are original.

What you are concerned about is currently all the PS3 in Malaysian market are independently brought over from other countries (mostly S'pore), and if there is any problem, you will have to send it back to where it came from for warranty.

Also if you are worried about the yellow light error (from another thread), it's just an indication that there is a problem with the PS3 Hard Disk (from what I gather) . Common parts like Hard Disk and Lens can be replaced by the shops here locally and need not be sent back to S'pore.

U can only worry about non-ori PS3 when the ppl of republic china started to make their own version of PS3 like they did with Wii over there

So far only PSP and PS2 are there at Sony shops.

One time i asked a man in the Sony Style of Pavillion, i had a press meet there for Canon so while waiting i wandered into the Sony shop...

i asked the guy "I have a PS3 so how much you sell your Blu-Ray now?"

the guy said

"The PS3 is not released yet....the one you have... sure fake one... "

LOLOLOL what did u say next? Did you say you bought it at singapore rather than waiting for them to take their sweet time to introduce to malaysia?
