I love... the girl in red (the one that loves horses... dunno name as usual) the last girl in the audition (the blue colour... one that dared simon cowell) and the braided haired dude (the one that simon said had a lot of confidence)
and ROTFL for Princess Leila (girl) and Princess Leila (dude that got waxed just for paula, that ended up singing 1 1/2 seconds of "Don't Cha" )
and the stalker dude that sang for paula was downright creepy...
The last one is so innocent. Never see an R rated movie before? I'd love to take her to one. And such a sweet voice. She and the outgoing martial arts learning are the two best ones for me.

The feckin Maroon 5 faggot damn poser.
The "martial arts learning" chick is sweeeeettt.... And the last one too...
First audition and I already have two top favourites... lol
Memorable Simon moment is when he said something like "why are people so happy for other people?" Randy was like "What are you talking?!!"
wah this is the best AI audition i ever seen full of laughters on the bloody losing contestants and dumb dressing ones too.
KLC style is exactly like carrie underwood. i wont be surprise if she can win this year AI title. thats 2 country singer winning the title 2 years in a row.
aww and pity that emo fat girl until the 3 judges must teman her out of the hall and send praise 2 her parents saying she did very great 2 went this far. how sweet eh?
also another favourite of mine is the patriotic rock chick wannabe showing lame victory sign and shoot a lot of F**K bombs on the camera behind the judges after not make it 2 hollywood. DUH! i seriously find the patriotic chick more funny and stupid than the star wars ala princess leila immitation chick.
i think there is a lot more stupid moments but these are the most i can remember ah so far. i cant wait 2 see whats in stores 4 us in texas.

KLC already look smokin. When Carrie came in, I didn't even notice her
But Brooke White. Damn she's already married! I want to have your babies XD
If she could sing to me the banana song. Awwwww, if only I could vote for her. But the African American lady with a sick daughter damn touching. This year, we have two soap operas already.
Just watched the premier episode and I already have 2 favourites! Kristly Lee Cook and Brooke White! I hope they both make it to the top 12! Anyway, this has to be one of the best audition episode I've seen in awhile with a good mix of laughter and talent. I can't wait for Texas tomorrow!

I can definitely see the similarities with Carrie and I do hope she sticks to her Country roots.
Anyway, the last 3 winners were: Season 4 - Carrie Season 5 - Taylor Season 6 - Jordin
So, it's not 2 country singers in a row yeah? And yes, I do hope she can go far this season, at least the top 6. I'll be rooting for KLC!

thats not what i actually meant. what i meant was if KLC did manage 2 win this season AI, then we will have 2 country music singing winners in a row now. 2006/2007 THE YEAR OF COUNTRY MUSIC DOMINATION. yeah i will aslo root KLC with BW unless texas can offer better than that contestants.

I know Nostalgia likes KLC but sorry, I am rooting for Brooke White. Her voice very sweet and her personality matches it. She's got the voice, the looks and the personality. And it's time we have had a folk/Christian-pop singer in Idol

wow this episode seems like got less drama and over the top reaction 2 the losers. we are brothers forever indeed takes the cake 4 the best stupid performance that was way better than yesterday milo turk song, the dude with shaved chest hair and the sing like handicap dude with yellow coat. also got less F and vulgar sign too which was cool. wow i was amazed texas indeed has gotten so many good players all thanks 2 kelly clarkson texan inspiration i guess. expect next week episode 2 be more explosive with anger and profanity.

Yeah I'm supporting KLC but I really wanna see Brooke do well this season because she does have a great package (voice, looks and personality) and it would be a shame if she gets booted off too early.

"We Are Brothers Forever." was my favourite performance of the day.No seriously,I enjoyed it XD
Edit: On a more serious note, the girl who can do the voice impersonation (and does a mean Britney one ) is really good. Another one to look out for
Yeah, it was definitely the most entertaining performance for me. And I couldn't stop laughing at the judges' antics. They were hilarious as hell!

Randy was funny but Paula was over the top lah. She spoilt the fun. So fugly. Simon makes me laugh lah. XD
Yeah, Simon was making me laugh throughout that performance and they even edited one of the scenes with the "ray of light" around Simon! Actually, Paula was quite funny with her dances although it was a bit over the top.
Anyway, it seems we missed out on Carly Hennessy, supposedly the singer with a professional background. Read more HERE

The dood was almost crying in the end! when he was like praising Simon... Lol that part was sooo funny! Simon kept saying "One More Time!" and "All Together Now!" and he kept going and going and going... I mean, it was damn obvious Simon was like sarcastic and all that, but the Renaldo dood just kept going and going taking it seriously... That really cracked me up!
And the impersonator-girl was really good too...

But today the lady that loves Simon also not bad. Hot and humble and down to Earth. Laughed my ass off at the lady who thinks she is the next Mariah Carey. The Aussie kid and the single dad also not bad.
The voice box kid who sang John Mayer was better than Sanjaya last season
aritha or something (named after aritha franklin summore?!! )
Simon "You murdered that Witney Houstan song. You literally murdered that song."
owh that's some1 else then.. the big black lady who works at a clinic or sth right.. the one who wouldn't stop singing and kept hoping singing other songs would help her hahahaha.. her rendition of 'fantasy' was so hilarious! not that i can sing it any better but at least i'm not on national tv hahaha
Nope. Unless she was one of the contestants where their names weren't shown. WHAT?! She was dumped!? You sure bout this?! I saw footages of her crying but I didn't think it meant that she was being cut!
Not sure but anyway, how can they make her cry? I mean I think Simon was referring to Brooke when he said to Paula "Come on Paula, you are torturing this girl!" Simon's right. I mean, Paula's just jealous that Brooke's so beautiful even without the makeup.
But anyway, my favourites so far:
1) Brooke White [of course ] 2) The Irish tattoo parlor 3) The guy with voice problem who sang John Mayer during the audition stage 4) The Aussie who sang Bryan Adams
Thank God the damn Latino guy who kissed Paula like mad got kicked out. Hate that fella.

Hmm..Let's just keep our fingers crossed that she will make it into the top 24 okay? Yeah, Paula was jealous of Carrie too during season 4. Some of her comments were
My favourites so far:
1/2) Kristy Lee [She didn't do too well but Carrie wasn't great too during the Hollywood round. IIRC, she also forgotten parts of the lyrics ! ] & Brooke White [Can't get enough of this girl! ] 3) 16 year old David who sang Bryan Adam's Heaven 4) The Aussie guy/The Irish girl
Yeap, I hate that latino guy too but it seems he gets along with the ladies really well! Good to see Amy Flynn (The girl who talks about abstinence) and the homecoming queen being cut. They can't really sing IMO.

Brooke White and KLC went through. This time the Filipino seems better than Jasmine Trias. Hope the girl that lost the voice go through.
Added on February 14, 2008, 7:01 pm1) Brooke White 2) The Irish tattoo parlor 3) The guy with voice problem who sang John Mayer during the audition stage 4) The Aussie who sang Bryan Adams
Add to favorites:
1) Lady who lost her voice 2) Cardin McKinney -> damn beautiful!!! She got KO-ed but will google her every now and then
Ceh. the politician is out Would have L-ed my A O to see more of him. The other fella, can't even remember him

1) Kristy Lee Cook / Brooke White [I'm spoilt for choice here! ] 2) Carly, the Irish tattoo parlor girl 3) 16years old David who sang Bryan Adam's Heaven during the Hollywood Round 4) The Aussie, Michael Johns
Anyway, what do you guys think of the rockers Amanda Overmyer and David Cook? They don't seem to be discussed much here.
This post has been edited by Nostalgia: Feb 14 2008, 07:22 PM
Yeah, last season was dull. Now, I just hope Brooke White can sing some Colbie Caillat [Realize or Bubbly would be great choices].
Yeah, Colbie would suit Brooke and Kristy can sing something from Taylor Swift [Cold As You or Teardrops On My Guitar would be great]

It's a pity they didn't put Cardin in. She would have made great eye candy
Yeah she is! She's abit too "easy" though. Even the latino managed to have his way with her.
Here's the Top 24:
12 Boys: Chikeze Eze David Hernandez David Archuleta Colton Berry Garrett Haley Danny Noriega Robbie Carrico David Cook Michael Johns Jason Castro Luke Menard Jason Yeager
12 Girls : Kristy Lee Cook Brooke White Kady Malloy Alaina Whitaker Joanne Borgella Asia'h Epperson Ramiele Malubay Syesha Mercado Amanda Overmyer Carly Smithson Amy Davis Alexandra Lushington
IIRC, those in bold were never really shown during the audition rounds.

Woo wee! Kristy Lee Cook, Kady Malloy and Cardin were good to see... To bad Cardin had to go tho...
Anyway, abt the dood living in the car... he deserved it... I mean yea, he lives in a car, boo-hoo, but its about the better singer, not the one u feel sorry for the most...
I mean, he was lucky to even get considered to be in the 24... other ppl screwed up the last performance and got cut... he screwed up and still got to go thru... he was talented, i'll give him that, but the point is, he screwed up the in most important part...
And like wat Simon said, if he wants to dismiss the band, he better be 100% sure he's gonna deliver... it was all down to over-confidence, and he didnt deliver... kinda like M&R from TARA, they were over confident too... Except that M&R were a little bit on the @$$ hole side and that kid was genuinely a good guy... So i feel sorry for him, but maybe its time he goes home and live with his parents again... Its worth more than being the American Idol...

I thought he dismissed the band bcoz he wasn't in sync with em? Probably he thought it would have been really bad if he had gone along with the band so he decided to give it a shot. Don't know if it was so much of overconfidence
I really wanted that politician and the fat black guy (the one that has that 'Bang chi ki wa wa') to make it to top 24. It may not be the greatest voice but come on, ppl watch AI for some 'special' talents.

that's what i thought too because he didn't have the time to rehearse with the band..
Cardin over the model yes. But crybaby over who? There's always next year and he did f*** up bad. Not old enough for the pressure. But Brooke White FTW!!
Added on February 20, 2008, 9:52 pmThe kid who sang John Mayer (David, I think) and Michael Jonst damn nice. Best was John Mayer kid. Tomorrow results or female show? KLC, Brooke White and the curly haired girl who lost her voice are the ones to watch tomorrow.
Hate the African American and the Jailhouse Rock fella. He just looks and acts ghey. Last year was gothic and now ghey?

Agree with Simon on KLC's song choice. You'd expect someone like Jennifer Hudson to sing that song. But KLC's a good sport, taking everything in her stride.
Haha, you should see the plus-size model's parents and their faces. They looked at Simon like they want to kill him. But I agree with Simon's assessment.
Alaina Witakher (sp?) looks hot But, I don't really like her. : / Her songs are boring.
Amanda @ Janis Joplin soundalike really makes me LOL. She looks like one of the aunties in Sabrina The Teenage Witch But I loved her energetic performance.
Is there something wrong with Brooke's hands? Can't she hold the mic? A bit disappointed by her performance. My two favs (Brooke and KLC) sound mediocre. Wasn't it yesterday that I just heard "Happy Together" as well? At least there's humor in the comments.
No particularly amazing performance from either the guys or girls, but some good ones here and there I suppose.
"Shoot" girl was pretty good, small girl with big voice as well
Kady Malloy has really got to lighten up in her performances
But I think the performance that I'll actually remember from this week is Brooke's "Happy Together" Maybe not the best performance vocally, but definately very Brooke and very rememberable. I think that was my favourite performance
in the end Ryan forgot to say Simon's name... He was like "Randy!" *audience clap* "Paula!" *audience clap* "and thank you to the band!" *audience clap* *American Idol song plays*
i kinda pity those were eliminated . those ppl didnt get proper airtime during hollywood week. i mean take a look at that dude with the long hair(forgot his name already), i think he was virtually non existent in hollywood week. obviously no one knew who in the world he is and what potential he has compared to the rest. such a shame... not saying he doesnt deserve to be eliminated though based on his performance, but he should at least be shown in hollywood week for at least a 2 mins
danny noriega is so funny!!! lol at the way he talked back at simon : 'some people weren't LIKIN' IT'. and david archuleta's performance was good once again
Agree with the two bolded points. It's amazing how Nostalgia manages to do it
Brooke>KLC.
Thanks but it's not that tough really. Maybe you need some ginkgo. It helps boost one's memory! J/K lah

Yeah, I agreed with Simon that KLC's choice of song was poor. I really didn't expect her to sing an upbeat song but at least she accepted the judges' criticisms gracefully unlike Kady Malloy. She was so pissed when Simon was giving his opinion on her performance.
Is Brooke a tad pale or is it just me? I was abit disappointed with her performance but I liked her conversation with Simon though. Funny as hell!
My 2 fav girls (KLC and BW) wasn't at their best but at least they will be singing again next week.

Josiah Leming...hmm, maybe he has his flair in song writing, but his vocals still need some polishing i think. dun really like his rendition of grace kelly. but hey, many ppl out there like him, he may make it big some day. heck, he even got to the ellen degeneres show, she even gave him a keyboard and other gifts worth over 8000

yup, i believe its still to early for him to give that performance. so from now on, he will feel the pressure to outperform this weeks performance. i think we have seen it in the past contestants peaked too early & then sent home packing.

Yeah Kady Malloy was good. is good. Shes hot too. like Cardin McKinney.
anyhow, theres stuff going on in cyberland that this years idol is fixed. nearly all the top 24 were pre=artists or so, they had demo cds lar etc etc.
i think season 5's the best so far
yea, I am so sad when they put Joanne (the plus size model) through instead of Cardin. I hope she come back to join next year.
Actually ever released album before or not is doesn't really matter, just some obviously get pimped and have more airtime than others, which is not fair.

Agreed, both on Kady and season 5
U might look at other seasons if you were lookin for like "top idols of all time", but season 5 definately had a very strong,if not strongest, variety of talent compared to other seasons.
Edit : Good job Brooke~ really beginning to really like her
And I'm as frustrated as Simon is about Kady. Sometimes it's not that she sings poorly or anything,it's just that it's like she hasn't found a song that defines her,if that makes sense I think she'll eventually come through if given the chance, but judging on the other performances, she might be goin home this week

I'm starting to like this girl. One of her strengths is her consistency and I can't wait to see what she does tonight.
Top 3 vocals according to Simon. Brooke looked fugly today But nice song. I loved it ever since I heard it in How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days. As for David, good vocals but like Burga, didn't appreciate the tempo.

did u guys realize that the vocals have too much echo? i believe that the stage is at fault here. cant wait for bigger stage when top 12 competes in 2 weeks time
Brooke surprised me today. The rest of the girls were nothing to shout about imo. And why attempt "All By Myself"? As Simon said, u gotta be one heck of a singer to pull that song off.
he guys performed better than the ladies I personally think Jason Castro will be on top three.
Jason Castro? Take away his guitar and he'll just be a guy with average vocals imo. He'll make the top 12 i think but i think the top 3 would be too much of a ask for him.

Yea,even at the moment I can see others who would be more likely to make it to the top 3 than him. Not putting him down or anythin, just stating an opinion
I like Castro..probably not the strongest singer per se but he has this indie vibe about him. Cool stuff.
I agree. But this is after all a singing competition. But it's a good way to get noticed anyway

I think this season, the frontrunner - David Archuleta way too front, it's really hard to beat him seriously, which makes the show become less exiciting (cause no competition).
This year that 17 year old kid named David something something will win la..confirm one la..sign and chop confirm..Simon even dares to bet his life on that kid!

The show has been sabotaged before. Remember Sanjaya?
Nah it's still early to say. The probability of him winning seems high now,but it's not totally certain.Someone could spring up some zomgbbqsauce awesome performance and give him some competition.
Plus...it is a vote based competition. Not everyone will vote for the best talent out there and what not. Alot of sausages would vote for say...Kristy Lee Cook
I seriously don't like David Cook and Carly Smithson, one is too cocky, another one just not comfortable to watch, especially the ugly tattoo that she can't stop to show off (just my opinion).

you 4got kady malloy aka britney impersonator these 2 will be top favourites among huge sausages i guess
Top 3 vocals according to Simon. Brooke looked fugly today But nice song. I loved it ever since I heard it in How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days. As for David, good vocals but like Burga, didn't appreciate the tempo.
Yeah, she didn't look her best. Her hair and outfit didn't suit her.I think it's time to go back to the stripes.
meh... feel sorry for this year, not so good compared to other seasons. season 5 da best. danny cook as much as i rate him, hes not on par with daughtry anyway..
ahh well atleast the girls some of em sing good, and some of em eye candy.. altho cardin mckinney wouldve been da bomb, she shoulda been in
i think at this stage this season has a better cast than the last. what was poor about this season were the audition shows. there was nothing to equal the Bush Baby Kid and Big Red of last year, and Simon seemed pretty much disinterested most of the time.
my review for this week's performances Luke Menard aka mcdreamy - missed his performance but from the flashback, doesnt sound that good - potential bottom 3
David Archuleta - as predicted, not as good as last week. top 6
Danny Noriega - agree with simon, not a good performance, hate the attitude, deserve to be eliminated
David Hernandez - quite good - top 6
David Cook - top 2 performances in my opinion, i think the song will sounded better in full acoustic version with him plucking the guitar - top 6
Jason Castro - top 2 performance also. like it very much - top 6
Michael Johns - not bad but stop hopping like a kangaroo. still love his version of bohemian rhapsody until i use it as my ringtone - top 6
Chiekezie - not bad actually, but not great either - potential bottom 3
lets see if the gogo scandal on Senior Hernandez that spread like wild fire in the US will affect his chances of going to the final
Idol executive said that gogoboi past wont get Hernandez off Idol:
The much publicized stripper past of American Idol contestant David Hernandez will not be an issue, the show's producer said. "The truth is, we're never judgmental about what people do to earn a living. They've got to put food in people's mouths. We've had strippers on the show before. Nikki McKibbon was one in Season One. If it were some sort of heavy porn, then maybe we'd have to take action. But certainly not on this. There are a lot of people I know who'd love to have the opportunity just to make a better living by taking their clothes off. David Hernandez, whatever you say, is a nice guy. And he can sing. He's got a great voice. He deserves to be there, as far as I'm concerned," American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick was quoted commenting on the scandal. According to Warwick, the producers had no idea that David Hernandez was working at a male strip club, but even if they did, it wouldn't have mattered.
David Hernandez sang last night as part of the male performance episode of the American Idol and all three judges were not affected by the already brewing scandal. All three gave him the "thumbs up" for his interpretation of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", with Simon Cowell going as far as telling Hernandez he could get to the finals if he keeps singing like that. And in doing so, David Hernandez could easily turn into one of the best bets on this season of American Idol. At the online bookmaker BodogLife Hernandez is still listed with the whopping odds of 28/1 to win the show, which means that bettors would be paid $28 for every $1 risked. David Archuleta remains the top favorite to win at the bookie with odds 8/11.
Tonight is the girls turn to sing and the females of American Idol are hardly shy of controversy. So far there have been rumors of racy photos Amanda Overmyer, as well as a questionable Facebook picture of Ramiele Malubay, but still nothing serious. Ramiele Malubay holds odd to win American Idol at 13/1 and Amanda Overmyer is now one of the biggest underdogs, listed with odds to win the show at 80/1.

it will be a scandalous discrimination against hernandez if he does not get into the final judging from his performances as compared to other male performers. But then, he is all but guaranteed at least one recording contracts from his amazing performances
so many scandals.. from idol contestant had a record deal to DUI to male stripper to s*x scandal & even to ex bf to britney spears.. wat more can i ask for..

Danny will do okay. I bet they are clubs out there looking for an teenage drag queen to for stage performances. I bet he will be good doing Its Raining Men in drag

since all the result already revealed, I can comment now.
I think I agree with lack of personality of Kady, and the vocal not really powerful compare with rest, which make sense for her to go, I am happy Asiah is gone, she is no way up to the impression gave by other girls to audience, even Kady is better than her. It's really danger for David Hernandez since DialIdol predict he is in the bottom 2 and his past being revealed definately have impact on him, but I am glad he make it through, one of the better male vocal in this season, but he has to give very good performance everytime to save himself, otherwise he will gone soon. Luke is 100% should gone, in fact he shouldn't make it to top 24 at all. Poor Danny, it's fun to see him on this show, but "Vote for the Worst" can't save him, no more Sanjaya this season.
Within the top 12, all are actually quite good, except one is way too overrated: Jason Castro.
Yea,probably future results should be in spoilers before the primetime telecast on Astro. (6pm/8pm)
And opposed to the above few posts,I personally think Kady has amazing vocals. She just didn't find a song to connect with (and no,it doesn't have to be a Britney one ) Oh well,we won't find out now will we?

I think he is a fine singer, though he isnt the generic Idol vocal powerhouse finalist. I like his understated nuance.
Not to say he is a bad singer, but I think he is selling his charm more than the vocal. The comment from judges also , especially from Simon, after he sing that Haliluah song (I found nothing special on this performance), obvious pimping.

ya, suprisingly similiar, a skinny version of Salman Khan, this guy is Indian Actor?
Salman Khan is a Bollywood star. David Hernandez is a latino. The first time that i looked at him, i was like, this guy looks familiar! then i remember Salman Khan

I thought it was a fine performance. The sincerity was what made it special. The judges however, were definitely pimping that kid's (whatever his name is again) Imagine a week earlier. It was a horrible arrangement of the song and no amount of vocal acrobatics could save it, though I don't think he deserves to be kicked out yet of course
Ramiele looks really cute!! And on the other hand Kristy Lee Cook, si beh hot!! OMG!!
Btw, did u guys notice that each week certainly there's atleast one of the judges pronounced Ramiele's name wrongly (Ra-me-li). OMG so hurt leh after so long oredi still cant remember her name, if I were Ramiele I'd be damn pissed off lolz

American Idol Golden Boy David Archuleta Forgets The Words
During the American Idol top twelve performance show, the golden boy's nerves got the better of him. With the highly prized final performance slot waiting for him, it looked like David Archuleta was set up for another knock out performance. Viewers at home were likely already anticipating Randy yelling "Dawg," Paula exclaiming "You're a star," and Simon Cowell telling the other contestants they might as well pack it up and go home.
However, this time David Archuleta didn't deliver. And we're not talking just a couple slight pitch problems like last week, but possibly one of the worst performances in Idol finalist history. During his performance of "We Can Work It Out," David Archuleta forgot the words to the song on multiple occasions and his vocals fell flat.
Instead of raving over the golden boy, the American Idol judges were not kind. Randy Jackson said it wasn't on point, felt forced, and didn't work for him. Paula Abdul said it wasn't David's best week and pointed out that he forgot the lyrics. Simon Cowell summed it up best by calling it "a mess."
We can close the season already. Eliminate Cardin or Carly (the Irish girl la...) and David early to make sure Brooke gets Idol
Observations:
1) During David's performance (the one who works at pizza place), someone shouted something insulting (it was at either at Jackson or David), anyone know what the nutter said? Because Simon was 'shhh...ing' audience and Paula was saying that the nutter was saying something mean.
2) Gotta love Ryan for trying his absolute best to make the contestants look good like what he did for Lee Cook and keep her in. Having said that, her performance was really

lol, was kidding. But what do you think of Castro? I think this week's performance exposed his weakness as a one-trick pony.
But he has very hot relatives sitting in the corner as well.
Castro...well I did say before that he isn't the best vocalist...so he has to be abit smarter when picking his songs. I thought the song he sang today exposed his lack of range (he totally couldn't reach the higher notes). But when he is in his zone he is a pretty good performer.
I only watched Chikezie, Brooke, Carly, David Archuleta's performances (youtube) and...
Chikezie's performance is crazily fun to watch!! And he also looks like he enjoys it alot, but for a moment I thought he was possessed lol!
Brooke was very good on that performance. I didnt like Carly's..
And what happened to little Archuleta? OMG, he was lost since the very begining, and his confidence was just totally parachuting to the lowest point when he forgot his lyrics!! His movements became very stiff, and he juz went off-pitch everywhere! I could barely recognize him on his performance, and it's very, very painful to watch cos I know he can sing very very well!
For Archuleta's fans, this is a spanish song that Archuleta sang when he was 12 or 13. I think his voice control was much better when he was younger.
Archuleta singing "I will always love you" (almost as good as Whitney Houston, holy shit!!)
David Archuleta singing in front of AI1 finalists when he was 11 (look at Kelly Clarkson.. damn funny, lol)

No way David A will be out tonight. He has a huge fan base. I predict Ramiele, David H & Kristy bottom 3. Syesha being the 1st to perform is very forgettable and I'm not surprised if she's in the bottom 3 as well.
Brooke was superb again last night!!! And that makes it 3 great performances for the past 3 weeks! Besides Brooke, Carly also impressed me and I was surprised with Chikeze's performance although I don't really like him! Sigh, Lee Cook disappoints again and her arrangement on that song was

The shots were nothing special lar...don't need to overreact And I'm surprised Hernandez got the boot. Kristy gave me a headache with her arrangement and that's a first
Like I said, there's something that was shouted at Hernandez yesterday. Whether it had an effect, anyone knows how to check?!
The fact that Kristy could still stay despite sucking so bad means that she has quite a fan base. If she does solidly in the coming weeks, she could be a dark horse but seriously, buck up! Anything will be an improvement from yesterday And why didn't she sing What Goes On (from Rubber Soul)? That sounds more country than any of the other Beatles song.
kobe- doesn't care who goes home because he knows Carly, Brooke, Jason (or rocker nurse), the two Davids and Michael will be in the top six.

Heh, I guess I just didn't expect that from her but you're right, the pics were nothing special Yeah, I don't think it's possible to start any song with such an arrangement. I think she's taking the judge's advice a bit too seriously lah imo.

Yeah, if Kristy could deliver a few solid performances in the coming weeks, her ratings will definitely increase. I actually think she's taking the judges' advice of going country a little too seriously.
Anyway, Brooke and Carly should go far!
P.S To those who wish to post the results, please use the spoiler tag. Some of us here still wants to watch it on TV. Thanks.

I think he should have started off a bit lower, so the high notes will be within reach. That said, I don't know whether he really couldn't reach them or he was just trying to give it a twist via nuance. That didn't bother me as much as the changes to the melody he did in the later part of the song.
some of the performances last night was entertaining. too late to comment? heh... spoiler above kills the suspense watching astro after this, but with hernandez getting the boot, doesnt really matter

david archuleta is SO lovable.... he is one of the best singers in this season, IMO
nothing against the kid, and its great he can 'sing' a little bit after he lost his voice, but i think his voice is a bit 'serak'. its a bit 'gruffy'??? when he gets older his voice will change too so imo probly not the best singer or even one of the best.
but as paula said, its a popularity contest and not a singing contest. btw, anyone here frequent cardin mckinney myspace much?
Q: Were you surprised to be the first sent home from the top 12?
A: I was genuinely shocked. I really didn't think that I would be going home. Honestly, based on all the things the judges have said about my vocals, I thought that I would definitely be in the bottom three, [but] I didn't think I deserved to go home. Everything happened for a reason. But when I was on the show and I said, "Wow," I was genuinely like, "Wow." [Laughs.] I was definitely shocked, but I'm very happy. There's probably going to be a lot of doors opening with this one closing.
Q: What did you miss most while you were on the show that you're looking forward to doing now?
A: I'm looking forward to eating pork-flavored ramen noodles and having a deep, deep breath away from the paparazzi. I'm definitely looking forward to that. I just want to go to my mom's house and lie on the couch with her cats for, like, 48 hours and watch nonsense TV.
being ousted hadnt broke his spirits. the haters have to try harder

Erm there are actually still two Davids. Lol. David A and David Cook.
lol - damn! there were three ! now I know why, Hernandez was kicked out. The audiences were having problem with three contestants having the same first name. As "H" as in Hernandez is last after A and C, so the Fox viewers decided to knocked Hernandez out
Anyone else think it was lame they did Beatles again this week? David A and Carly's performances were the best for me. Didn't understand Simon's criticism of Carly.

No I don't think so. Like Randy said, every week can be Beatles Week.
Syesha and David A gets my vote for the best performances. Carly put in another great vocal demonstration but IMO, Blackbird is not a song which works when you go big with it. Its just such an intimate song
I did think that the performances this week were mostly mediocre though. The problem is those tunes are so ingrained into global pop culture that its very VERY difficult to do something different and get away with it. At least nobody tried to do a major melody and harmonic change like what Castro did last week. The genius behind the Beatles compositions is their outrageous chord progression and unconventional harmony which is at the real edge of falling apart and ruining the whole song yet somehow through some magic remains coherent. Tampering with genius simply doesn't work.

there's just something about carly smithson that turns me off...i mean, her voice is nevertheless good but there's just this something that i cant really pinpoint. hmm.
Even by today's standards, the Beatles sound is more innovative than a lot of the current crap being produced nowadays. They are far from 'old school'.

they get paid for the live advertisement just like mentioning coca cola once in awhile. same with itunes and ipod. but yeah it does get annoying.
re: the beatles songs,
they're paying premium royalty for it to play the songs in this competition so i guess you're right, they wanna milk it dry and get their moneys worth.
although i think backfired for this week though coz i nearly slept thru the show and the elimination just now.
yes rocker chick finally out, although have to admit she was good last week. but like i said before, same ole stuff from her and no versatility, and when simon points that out, it kills anyone chances.
it seems the judges critiques do affect the people votes... too bad really, cant the audience decide on their own who they like.
I too don't mind either and I don't really bother to watch the results show. But in any case, was Lee Cook crap again? Can't believe how many cat lives she's used up

Couldn't agree with u more. As Simon said it was a very "smart" song choice. Appealing to patriotism is always a clever way to get votes don't u think
You know when i first heard David Cook's Billie Jean i was blown away. But after some googling it turns out it wasn't his original arrangement. To be fair Ryan Seacrest did credit Chris Cornell (one of my favourite rock vocalists ) when he introduced the song but the judges seemed oblivious to it. But taking nothing away from David he still did an amazing job with the vocals.

yeap exactly i share ur thoughts as well, David Cook should have credited it to Chris when the judges applaud him for his bravery and "arrangement"...IMHO
yeah dont sweat it, ive learned to stay away from this thread before the show on astro. gotta say this week a bit better than last week. okay much better but still not up to what i was expecting. but a bit too bad for chikezie, he sang very well when he left though. i think there were others more deserving to leave at this stage
David Cook sometimes if you watch him, it feels the song not too great when he sings it. but if you listen to his itunes version, they sound great when you cant see his face. heh funny, altho im still a fan.
But in any case, was Lee Cook crap again? Can't believe how many cat lives she's used up
Actually she was pretty good. It was a bona fide Americana song, which I dont really mind (though when Ryan announced it I thought she was going to sing the even more awesome God Bless America song instead...which unfortunately is a 1918 piece)

Yeah, I agree she was pretty good considering how poor her performances were the past few weeks. I was more familiar with God Bless America instead of .."The USA" though but it sounded great nonetheless.
With next week's theme most likely to be Country, Lee Cook will have her chance to prove herself again. I'm still unsure why Randy and Simon didn't like Carly's performance as I thought it was good and it wasn't an easy to song to sing.
Anyway, I would like to remind you guys to please use the spoiler tags when posting the results ! Thanks

I thought she was her same bland old self. She has absolutely zero stage personality.
yeah but atleast the best singer david cooks still in it with a very big chance to finals.
they 'kesian' cristy lee cook maa... she sold her horse, so now they try promote her push her far so she can go further after idol to recoup money and buy back her horse and then some.
they also like brooke, which is why they approve of her 'redoing' the intro bit

KLC has a good back story - selling the pony to get to the Finals but nothing more.
kobe- thinks that Brooke looks awesome with straight hair XD
wtf this is becoming a popularity instead of a singing competition! chikizie shouldnt be the one had left! compared to castro -__-"
eh c'mon! i think Castro is way better than chikizie, ok mayb u're right that castro din choose the correct song for this week, but hell, his rendition of Hallelujah was simply superb...
i love brooke's style...the sitting on the piano, singing soft, melodic songs style. she's a bit different compared to the traditional female singers aint she? the female singers on AI are usually big, hard hitters...like carly, syesha.

She's a John Mayer fan! And IIRC, Mayer has once mentioned that he'd like to be on the show. Imagine them dueting for season finale or Idol Gives Back?
Slow Dancing in the Burning Room would be a killer duet!

brooke white's my pick for this season i just love how different she is. not to mention she's not pretentious, and all that. although i do fancy a few other contestants as well...haha.
talking about kristy lee cook, agreed that she has zero personality and stage presence. when she sings, i snore.

No she doesn't! Like I've said it before, the curls baybeh, the curls! Just like the one she had during the auditions. At least she's lost the stripe shirts now.
For me, I really like it when she plays an instrument during her performances and it usually turns out great whenever she does. She had keyboards in the Hollywood round, guitar for "You're So vain" and piano for "Let It Be" and "Every Breath You Take" and those performance were really good! I guess I just like this style of hers. Go Brooke!
Oh, which Grey's Anatomy actress appeared? Ellen Pompeo? Must've missed her but I did spot Danny with Ramiele's family.

Dr Torres appeared
And Danny's trying to be part of the family
I like Brooke with the instruments but she's prone to making mistakes as well : /
Well, the top 9, the best i would say Michael Johns, i was supposed to think that it was a country week but johns sounds kinda different from others, he was kinda like remake the song to be his own. not to say i like him but his performance was the best of the night. The rest were just simply boring, no offense to country music.
Anyway, did anyone know Mariah is gonna be a mentor in AI for the top 7? The show needs her to make it more worthy for watching
Brooke not hot enough in my books. Kady Malloy is an example of hotness. but the ultimate wouldve been Cardin McKinney if she was in
ooh i totally agree. kady is hot, but cardin = hot + gorgeous + pretty. she looks like liv tyler slash kate beckinsale. too bad joanne whatshername got chosen in her place.
As for Ramiele, it was the right decision. She hasn't really been that good for the past few weeks. I feel that KLC is a tad underrated around here. Her performances overall have been mostly just enough to keep her in (similar to Castro). She did put in a good one last week, and a damned decent one a few days ago. And I feel that Ramiele's and Brooke's performances in Beatles Week #2 was easily as boot-worthy as Kristy's Eight Days a Week.

And I hated KLC's song choice, bloody pretentious.
I think thats really harsh. There is nothing wrong with singing a Christian song (this is America after all, and KLC is that all American girl personality), which was also good song by any measure.
I think its weeks like this which are the toughest. The ones who usually deliver consistent great performances visibly falter (Carly, Cook, Brooke), while the 'underdogs' blew it out of the water. Do you kick out the consistent ones over a poor performance, or punish an improving contestant? Tough pick.
Burga - who honestly thinks its Brooke's turn to go this week, as she has been rather boring the past few weeks.
KLCC - kristy lee cook COOKS.. well.. she was her usual ..'perky' self... sang well too... yeah david cook a bit letdown this week but he'll still go thru. JC should go first before Brooke IMHO...

It's totally okay with me if she wants to sing a Christian song. But it's the personality that matters, especially when it comes to an inspirational song like this, which I think she lacks.
The other time Castro sang "Hallelujah", he didn't just sang it well, but it felt heartfelt which comes hand in hand with that song choice. KLC for me, is just singing that song to draw votes, and not because she means it, just like the time she sang the "patriotic" song.
I think - Carly will be voted out this week. Sad, but most probable. And she really needs to listen to Simon's advice and find a new fashion consultant. I know she was trying to pull off a Freddie Mercury attire last night, but it was horrendous.

Actually I think she was pretty in the zone with it. As for personality, I think Syesha comes up even shorter in that department (as did Ramiele) and Brooke's is somehow slightly annoying imo. I think its clear that Americana is really her element, and if it happens to draw votes, she's smart to choose it.

what the... Our Lady Peace aint a one hit wonder band, I guess u've only heard of this song from the band, but dont label them as 'one hit wonders'....
I actually thought KLC sang pretty well this week. I think this is the first time I actually liked her performance But my fav was Jason's one. I'm with Burga. It'll be a tough elimination this week. I've a feeling Carly's in trouble but i hope she gets through.

are you sure? then how come i dont hear any of their new hits on radio these days?
Which I dunno whether it's a good thing or not. Most of my friends don't share the same taste as mine, but in the mean time, that separates me from the radio listeners
Wow... I have watched only 1 hour of the Idol Gives Back and I feel really sorry for the less fortunate. It makes us think about other people who have absolutely nothing in this world.
The kids who have no playground and can't enjoy themselves because of strong gang-related violence.
That lady who lost all her 3 daughters.
That family of brothers who have no parents and no grandparents, depending only on their eldest brother who is even younger than I am.
That was the last. I turned off the TV.

what did ryan say after simon said that he doesnt have chihuahuas? i dint get that.
& are they always only helping the africans & most of their own ppl. why not help arfganistan, bosnia & all those other countries that seriously needs as much help?

Then truth is we can't help everyone. Arfgan is too sensitive to be helped anyway.

its a business.
the company selling nets for $10 a set is makin millions. the drugs for the aids making millions. etc.etc
yep just a biz. its the same with their charities over there. sometimes when they do food aid and take in donations, they actually buy and get rid of food items (new or packaged) that are near their due date.. nearly rotten food, so that it doesnt go to waste and they still make money. been goin on for ages.
they could take more proactive measures to combat malaria and etc in those countries. the nets and etc benefits the companies more than anyone else.

Why so? Castro is the only improving contestant, aside from Cook. The rest are pretty much predictable on what they're gonna sing. Castro at least tries new stuff.
I dunno about Castro trying new stuff. He's been pretty predictable as well. But he sang well this week so it would have been unfair if he was voted out. I'm surprised that Michael is gone but in a way I'm not that surprised as well. (Confused? )

erm.. i beg to differ. theres not much difference really. he just sings those types of songs sitting down and playing the guitar and is IMO predictable as well. same like amanda the rocker chick, just not enough versatility. i do admit hes improving a little bit but i think doesnt warrant being there any longer.
this will be unpopular, but i think david archuleta shouldnt go to the finals too, i dont think hes that good. when he gets older his voice gonna change sumore but back to present, still not good enough IMO.
and before anyone asks, my hearing is good.
Added on April 11, 2008, 11:40 pmalso, i think its just that coz in the previous years they've had some amazing singers, this years pale in comparison. so kinda unfair to them but thats the reality of it

While I agree with you that this season doesn't promise much talents compared to the previous seasons, but really need to disagree with Jason Castro.
He might be predictable with his style but not in the way he executes it. He sang a very good rendition of a jazzy If I Fell, which is one of the best Beatles performer of that 2 weeks. He sang an acapella version of Hallelujah and this week, with that incredibly tough song Somewhere Over The Rainbow. And he has been improving week after week.
You gotta admit, he and Cook are the only fun contestant to watch now.
At least the one that go home is not my favorite at all. Ryan is so cruel by giving h** false hope said last year during Idol Give Back nobody go home....

actually for me klc is 'fun' to 'watch' . cook is fun to listen to. castro is alright in my books. not bad but not great as well..
to say how much the level of talents dropped this season, just listen to the whole group singing during elimination episode. they dont sound good together. past seasons they sounded and gelled really well singing together
SYTYCD? but yes it was stunning. is the talent really diminished? I thought syesha was actually good but not original, archuleta and cook are great, castro was amazing with his rendiiton (but i somehow think others HAVE done betta).
Blake was a gimmick and Melinda was never going to win. This year is way better.
Yes, Melinda was never going to win but she is probably the best singer among all of the 12 of last year's and this year's combined. She was an outstanding singer, from her 1st audition till the week she was voted out. She might be old-fashioned but hell she can sing.
Blake was not a gimmick. That's just who he is - a fun, entertaining dude, and original. His Bon Jovi rendition was probably the best performance last year (let any of this year's contestant do 16 bars w/o singing, and I'll say this season's better)
This year has nothing to shout about honestly, except for David Cook.

We'd have our opinions but I disagree that this year is mediocre. Just saw David Cook and his rendition of the Carey song was awesome. I'd buy his album (original, I mean ) this second if it's out!
I disagree as well. This year has been unique in my opinion. I actually found last year boring. I've so far held my reservations about David Cook's originality (that Billie Jean arrangement wasn't his) but this week....just hand the guy the damn thing already! I know it is still a long way to go but this guy is the raw deal. Meanwhile I'm going to search for a youtube recap of his performance

well i did say im a fan of cooks.. but in overall talent, this year lacking to last years.... but anyhow.. we are all straying a bit off topic, comparisons are fine but lets just enjoy the music eh? (even tho i started the whole comparison thing)
i still stand its not as good as previous years but that doesnt mean i cant enjoy this year as well.
btw, its a bit too bad but i missed the first half of todays show... cooks song when he started i thought it wasnt goin to work but when he added the rock element he was taking no prisoners.

Yea, but what about the other contestants? David Cook as mentioned obviously stands out above the rest. In previous seasons, you could see at least 2, or 3 potential finalists. I think you could only mention 1 right now at this stage.
Anyway, Cook was amazing this week I thought.

Carly, two Davids and Jason are all on par if you ask me. It's just that Cook and Archuleta are peaking. I think White is out of it and KLC is a goner no matter what she does.
So far the most impressive male AI performance for me is Chris Daughtry - "I walk the line" and Blake Lewis - "you give love a bad name", cook still not up to that impressive level.

Actually my fav male contestant is the superb Elliott Yamin. Amazing voice + personality. Was really rooting for him to win, but that season was really tough.
One of my fav Idol performance.

fav AI performance of all time?
i must say Clarkson rendition of NAtural Woman or Respect. she did it her own way so that makes it unique.
Daughtry in the other hand just mimic Edward Kowalczyk of LIVE version of I Walk The Line. Thats why at the finale Daughtry sang with LIVE. that is his way of saying sorry for claiming "i arranged this song this way".
Bo Bice singing without the background music and Fantasia's Summertime were my favorites. Carrie Underwood's Alone had to be close too. Best this season was Cook singing Always Be My Baby which is an Idol moment - him dedicating it to his brother.
Does anyone else think that Eliott has the whole Cat Steven vibe?

David Cook is damn good with his rendition of Mariahs number..
Starting to like him now but i often find him to be a little bit smug. Nevertheless David A for the winner!!!!!!!!
I used to think the same but I kinda accept that that's the way he looks but you gotta love the way he's so meek in front of Cowell after receiving a lashing earlier this season with the "luckily the audiences decide" episode.
The link is on David Cook and his brother who is suffering from cancer.
This comment from the link sums it all up for me:
QUOTE
I like the fact that he was the ONLY, and I mean the ONLY person on 'Idol' that kept it secret and did not give a sob story at the beginning like some contestants did. I feel that the only reason they had to tell us their sob story at the beginning was because they wanted that sympathy to sway the votes. This guy not only kept it a secret, he didn't even tell the other contestants, they found out due to the NEWS. I feel for his brother, but I also respect the fact that he did not use his brothers illness as a way to hike his votes, and he let the competition be judged as it should be, by his talent! He is very talented, his rendition of Billy Jean was fantastic! Randy even liked it better that way!
Respect

If you were to judge performances on a weekly basis rather than on talent or potential, David Archuleta should have been out with "We Can Work It Out." Let Brooke stay for one more week (or two since Carly pissed me off by being childlish).
Well if you want to argue based on talent or potential then surely Syesha should have that one over Brooke. Brooke has been getting on my nerves tbh. She's constantly whining and she hasn't been singing well for the past 3(?) weeks.

I do think that Syesha has a better voice. I did mention in the previous pages on how I was impressed by her singing despite losing her voice over a flu or something during the Hollywood elimination stages but to be honest, the ladies all piss me off. And as for the guys, I do expect the two Davids to be in the finale. Castro, like Brooke, are one trick ponies. Lose the guitar and piano already!
David Cook - Always Be My Baby beat Madonna - 4 Minutes, top the chart at iTunes, very very nice song, anyone interested can get it here, highly recommended.

Bottom three next week, confirmed. David Archuleta David Cook Jason Castro Carly Smithson Syesha Mercado Brooke White
hahaha i believe this season will be an all guys season and sad 2 say this but the 3 ladies will be in the bottom for the next 3 weeks with each will be eliminated one by one
the Archie kid has a good voice, but he imbues his (almost always slow) numbers with very predictable lilts and I think he usually overdoes it...anyone else think so?

I don't think he's overdoing it. I think he's singing at his best right now but expect nothing more from him.
I've got a weird feeling it's gonna be a David vs David finale.

I don't think he overdoes it. But I agree that he's being too predictable with his style. Where is the guy that sang John Mayer in the first auditions? He does have a good voice and he does have a natural feel for songs though.
Brooke and Jason had horror shows. Jason was worse for me.
Syesha and Carly were my favourites this week (maybe theatrical songs suit them?)
OMG I take back whatever I said previously about Syesha. She absolutely owned the night this week! The Cook dude was damned good too, though if I were to nitpick I didn't think the edgy shouty last note fit in with the rest of the performance. But again, Syesha...wow! And she looked great!

It was her style of music - the salsa/upbeat genre and she chose wisely.
It's unfortunate that this always happens when headed towards the finale. Popularity will most definately outshine the greater singers.
Jason Castro or Brooke White should have been in the bottom with JC getting the boot. Carly was amazing and she deserves credit. Seeing that Syesha & Carly is in the bottom 2, I hope Syesha gets the boot instead.
Brooke is beginning to piss me off infinitely. Stopping halfway? Archuleta should have restarted "We Can Work It Out" then and so on and so forth. Suck it up and stop the excuses. And stop lookin like you're gonna cry week in week out with that stupid face of yours. I mean, I used to like her but she's been using every dirty trick in the book to gain votes. Cook FTW but wouldn't it be awesome if he sang the more rock-ish Phantom of the Opera?
^ Don't think it would have worked if he did that At least he showed a different side and that he has the vocal prowess to pull off such a song. I was quite impressed to say the least.
based on the talent, definately David Cook will win this. David A is a good singer but not as creative as David C. and don't count Jason out, he has quite a large fan base same as David A. Hope the best of the best will win not like wut happen to Chris D last time.
IMO, Jason Castro's performance has been falling flat. Like Simon says his performance were not outstanding, unique and just plain blah-another-meh-song. I hate those stupid voters who votes him just for his looks and not his singing which is what American Idol is. See what happened to Melinda Doolitle in the last season. How the heck did she not make the Idol? She was incomparable to Blake and Jordin.
It's either David Cook or David Archuleta will win, it still depends on the performance, cause in final, the song wrote for winner is always ballad, which in David A comfort zone, he might perform better than Cook.
do u guys know that there are 2 version of Carly's come together song? One is with original pitching, and the other is where they change it to a higher pitch
Cant understand why Jason Castro still on the list. He should be kicked long agoo.. But he has too many schoolgirls and college student voters who prioritize pretty face rather than true musical talent.
Mind u it is afterall American IDOL..ofcuz they will vote for those they IDOLIZED..so pretty face and good boy/girl attitude is a must..If not Bo Bice might have won last time..
well for the most part that may be true, but season 5 is the exception. daughtry best singer was out as 4th. katherine mcphee the ultra hottie was 2nd and didnt even win. dont even remember the winners name anymore tho
David A is finally back. You can call me a sap but I thought his rendition of Love Me Tender was amazing. And I'm rooting for Syesha as well (hope American makes the right decision this time ard)..she's improved leaps and bounds
