Teewai,
Sorry to hear about the passing of ur PIPI. But I am really curious of the cause of death. Was it diet related. If you are able to share some symptoms with us maybe we could all learn something from this expensive lesson. |

QUOTE(v@larie @ Jan 22 2008, 10:07 PM) So sorry for your lost Teewai. I think you better bring it to vet. Try giving it Alfafa Hay/Timothy hay.A noob on rabbit.... My rabbit is sick i think. Didnt see him for a week , he's getting more and more skinny. Do u bath rabbit?? i mean how?? he dont have energy to jump, he dont have appetite to eat also. Well, baths are not necessary, unless your rabbit is sooooo dirty like mine. Heres a step(DON'T BATH IT WHEN YOUR RABBIT IS SICK) QUOTE Most rabbits do not enjoy enjoy getting wet and may find baths to be quite stressful. Besides, your rabbit keeps clean by constantly grooming itself, so it is not a must to bathe your rabbit. A sick rabbit must NEVER be given baths, unless recommended by a rabbit-savvy veterinarian. You may try spot-cleaning instead, if your rabbit has a particular dirty spot on its coat. Apply some baby cornstarch (usually available at the baby section of the supermarket) to the dirty spot, then gently comb out the dirt. Do not use talcum, as it is carcinogenic. If you do bathe your rabbit, be sure to thoroughly blow dry it until the undercoat is dry and fluffy. Rabbits are sensitive to heat, so make sure the setting on your hair dryer is no higher than 'warm'. Use your hand to check that the air from the hair dryer is not too hot. An alternative to baths are dry rabbit shampoos, which come in powder form. All you need to do is to rub the dry shampoo into your rabbit's coat, brush off the powder after a while and finish by wiping a damp cloth over your rabbit's coat. Added on January 22, 2008, 11:00 pmOh ya guys, when you bring your rabbit play outside from its cage, how to make it not to poop everywhere? My rabbit keep poop when i bring inside my house. pooping everywhere is a sign of marking territory. Get it neutered or spayed to make sure no territorial marking. Else, u just have to live with it....

sorry to hear valarie.....
I have got a feeling that most sudden death that you guys experiencing with your bunnies lately is due to GI Stasis. The symptoms are very consistent. They stop eating and drinking then the next thing you know they are dead. Read up on GI STASIS people!!! It is not a disease just some underlying problem that causes the stomach to stop churning. No liquid goes in then hairball builds up. The gut get stuck, the bunny stomach bloats, no appetite and dies.....within 24 hours.... Prevention: 1) Feed good DIET 2) Feed lotsa HAY 3) Feed fresh vegetables 4) Let them out for exercise (stimulate digestion) Now you think raising a rabbit is easy? Not quite huh? i am sorry to hear the death of our friends bunnies..
may they rest in peace.. btw all bunnies owner must pay attention to what sangterap said.. i think many bunnies have risk to get GI stasis if we only feed them with pallet, without hay and veges... remember, prevention is better than cure |

the other rabit bit is doig fine. She tends to eat everything. Even the Aloe vera i plant at the back yard.
Actually, i leave them to run around at the backyard. Which includ 2 chicken. And the girl bit bit (boy bit bit "dead") even eat the chicken pallet. is it ok?? |
