Hi there. Does anyone know where I can get NIC (Neat Idea Cubes) around KL / Sngor?
djspinnet,
went through your post very carefully and thoroughly. I believe at some point you have grass in your rabbits diet list. I believe we cannot deny the fact that grass should make up a great part of a rabbits diet because it helps with stomach motility. I normally take pellets as something that helps fill the rabbit stomach in case they are not full from the hay/grass that they eat. That is why, I believe most of the seasoned owners here limit their pellets to about 1/4 to 1/2 cup per day (per 6lbs). In the end I believe hay remains the most important part of their diet. I think this can be traced back to wild rabbits as well. To have a wholesome diet, I believe although as little as 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets per day, it should also be pellets of quality. I guess not everyone can afford a pack of Oxbow that cost as much as a rabbit itself but still, it is worth it in the long run. I am also not denying others' rights to owning a rabbit when they cannot afford it. I believe everyone should have a pet. Of course the pellets should not be an issue here since there are many alternatives. But we have to know the alternatives to begin with. I normally recommend the common things because I felt that most of the people here do not do their extensive research and giving them the simplest of ideas is the only way to go.
To be honest, how many people will go and Google "natural diet for rabbit"? Just like today, we just had a few coming in asking about the most basic of stuff which the information has been available on page 1. Since most wants a straight cut answer, that is what most of us here would give.
I also understand that not every rabbit owner stay in a house with compound where grass is easily available. I believe there should be a general guidelines as to what a rabbit should eat so that we do not vary too far away from it. And at the end still boils down to the fact that we actually care for other people's pet as well so that we do not hear this one dying of diarrhea, that one dying being run down by car and etc.
And I also believe that the diet varies through different breeds as well. Just like the mixed breed dogs we see on the streets, they can survive in the toughest of environment. I strongly believe that local rabbits has been accustomed to many things in their environment. Although that may be the reason, there are still many more reasons to give the best to our rabbits. We should always work for a better future.
As I have mentioned, we are all here for our rabbits. It is the most wonderful hobby once you get the hang of things.
