I seriously do not find any reason why we should vaccinate our rabbits. And I do not think our Malaysian vets have those vaccines. And the 2 common virus rabbit need vaccines for are the Myxomatosis & VHD which I do not think we have an outbreak in Malaysia yet.

lm_meileng,

Small pellet doesn't mean you need to increase the amount to feed. Firstly, I hope you have switch to Oxbow from previous brand gradually. Sudden 100% change will be problematic. U start off feeding 1:4 ratio 1 being Oxbow & 4 being old pellets.

Oxbow is good pellet therefore, you can start limit pellets and feed more on Hay.

Again, Hay is rabbit staple food, and pellets are just for filling up the stomach. you need good pellets nonetheless.

This is MY own strategy. For adults, I give 1/4 x 250ml cup of Oxbow per day. Unlimited access to Timothy Hay. I also give vegetables such as Celery, Siow Bok Choy & Parsley.

For rabbits below 6 months you can give them Unlimited Oxbow Bunny Basics 15/23 and Alfafa.

Hope this help. Always remember, no sudden 100% change in food. Your rabbit stomach will get a shock!

Dear all,

would like to check with u all that my bun bun after taking the oxbow pallet, they consume lesser and lesser of the timorthy hay that i use to provide them. is it ok....or is it because of i increase the pallets for them and they feel so 'kenyang' already. unsure.gif .........i increase the pallets because  i notice that oxbow pallet is rather smaller in size compare to the hagen brand pellet that i use to feed my bun bun. i buy the oxbow pallets/Timorthy for my adult bun bun.........is the timorthy hay content good enough for my bun bun. hmm.gif ........i am afraid that if they do not consume the hay.....sooner or later will have the hair ball problem........or should i cut down on the oxbow pallet ? pls advice... Thanks and good day... smile.gif

djspinnet,

I am very sorry that you are coming to this point. Of course I hope your rabbits live forever and that is my hope for everyone here as well.

It is especially hard when you have bonded with your rabbits.

I normally pray for a peaceful passing without suffering if my old rabbit have to go.

Hope you find peace accepting the fact IF your rabbit really have to pass on to the other side. I also do not deny that your rabbits may be waiting to see you for the last time. I know that is normally the case with dogs. Rabbits are smart too and I believe there is a possibility.

Just like the failing kit I had previously. It was holding on to its dear life until I told it to just let go. Not too long after it breadth its last. Heart wrenching.....

QUOTE(djspinnet @ May 17 2008, 12:21 PM)
My rabbit still seems fine till today.... dunno what happened the other day. Since that flopping over the other day it's been happily hopping around like normal, like nothing ever happened. Weird.

Then again its an elderly bunny probably nearing its end of life... at her age the best is just to keep her contented I suppose.

Time to make another trip back to Penang whenever time allows me to play with them before they start .... going... sad.gif

I truly understand and there are no words to describe this type of situation. Even I find it hard to find the right words to say. But let's just be hopeful that everything will work out fine.

Take good care and dun be take it too hard if the inevitable happens.

QUOTE(djspinnet @ May 17 2008, 09:55 PM)
Thanks sangterap.

Yeah, I am very close to them and I really wish I could have brought them to KL with me when I came over to KL but they've been so pampered with a huge garden for so many years it would be cruel to take it away from them. They grew up with me through some difficult times when I was sick and in and out of hospital for almost half a year and depressed many many years back and knew how to communicate with me and my moods and helped me recover. They are... not just pets, they're... more than that. Dunno how to describe... I think I'll feel their passing more than any normal rabbit owners would.

I'm so gonna miss them when they go over to the other side sad.gif

Beh,

please educate them a bit...pass them some knowledge.....

Nico,

yours is a very tragic story la. I wonder why you encountering so much headaches with your rabbits. I hope your Daddy will be fine.

my only advice to everyone breeding is that, this is the exact thing that you have to consider when breeding. Will you be passing on this type of problem to future owners or not. see our friends here always have to bring Daddy in and out of vet. So much trouble.

A lesson for all of us: Pass on GOOD STUFF!!!

I believe it is our responsibility to recommend the pet shops to sell Oxbow. These places are available because they are willing to take in from Beh. If you know of people who owns pet stores, just ask them to try this brand out.

Keeping the information to yourselves also no use might as well spread the word. That is how we can have constant supply because there is demand.

PLC have humble and approachable staffs. They are willing to try not like some other pet shops. This type of pet store should be applauded because they are not too proud to learn. I believe their service is not too bad. IF you need something from the Ikano outlet to be placed in Sunway outlet, they will get it done on the day you put in the request. They even call you to follow up.

That is what i call top notch customer service.

Rabbits will normally stop eating a while after traveling...

Try not to put your hay on the cage floor. You can use hay racks.

QUOTE(nicoty_yne @ May 23 2008, 02:07 PM)
Like sangterap said before, we shud acknowlegde the petshops about the Oxbow's existing. Let the Oxbow fever spread the whole Malaysia! Later Beh will come with his Show Feed Rabbit. Let's spread it's fever. (Wah, sounds like Euro 2008 fever!) biggrin.gif

But before that, i want to share my experience with some of the petshop when i told them about Oxbow products. "Lu jangan cakap pasal nutrient la, labbits requirement la, itu la ini la... Ini product mahal maaa... Kita bisnes, kita tengok mahal ka murah. Kita ambil barang murah, boleh jual murah maaaa.. barang murah lagi manyak orang beli. Boleh makan juga maaa.. Lu kasi lu punya labbit makan mahal ka, murah ka, lu punya labbit pun makan jugak maaa... kenyang jugak maaa... Lu tengok kita punya labbit sana.. Wa bagi makan murah, pellet sekilo RM2 pun labbit makan jugak. Buat apa lu buang duit?"

What the "tooooooot'!!! I felt like want to punch his face until his head turns 360 degrees!! :vmad:

Chin, let's bring the parang and shovel to that petshop!!! I think we shud keep Sangterap alive at this moment to spread the Oxbow n Show Feed Rabbit fever first.. hehehe... tongue.gif

This is our culture and the education of the people who doing pet business is extreme low. No doubt business will need to involve profit, we can't blame them. You just hv to let them be, talk more to then is just like talking to a cow poo. laugh.gif  Is a WASTE to bring my parang and shovel they, cause HARVEST NOTHING, we rather go to SANG, at least got NICE RABBIT to harvest.... rclxm9.gif  icon_idea.gif

Added on May 23, 2008, 3:43 pmI just visit Toby Pet safari, my... they shifted to behind, and now the small pet section is very small and is cramp in a small space with bad ventilation, even our self dont want to breath it, that is very very bad. I also see Chinchillas inside there, sad. Actually there can have very very good ventilation, it just fix a 12" ventilation fan on top of the room, VIOLA! so simple and keep all pet healthy.

Nico & All,

Actually I have been thinking about how the shop keeper told you about RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets. After the entire day thinking about it, I realized that I actually need to tell everyone this.

Yes, many cheap rabbit pellets out there. And most petshops only emphasize on profit. But just let me tell u guys what I think okie...

When I keep my first rabbit, the main problem that I encounter was the smell. Many people give up their rabbits when they get too stinko. After using Oxbow, I realized that my rabbit do not smell that bad. Of course urine have smell but somehow, the smell is not that strong.

That being said, most pet shop people do not know this and their RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets is those that causes really bad smell. And when people start to give up their rabbits because of the smell, I do not think their RM2 sekilo will be as LAKU.

Likewise if the RM2 sekilo rabbit pellets causes health problems, soon no rabbits will need those pellets because they will all be DEAD!

So, if you encounter snobbish shop keepers like what Nico had mentioned, just tell them to PANDANG JAUH sikit....with good pellets we will have healthy and smell good rabbits. With that, people will come back for more!

So now, RM2 sekilo better or longer business better?
