Bacteria infection? I believe it is hard to diagnose at this stage and doing anything on her would be fatal anyway. Just hope she does not suffer a bad passing that's all.

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 13 2008, 11:49 PM)
sangterap,

It's definitely a headtilt/wry neck.

The question here is what is the cause. The cause could be a lot of things... far as I know it had no cancer, no inner ear infections, so it looks more likely stroke (cos of the paralysis & old age).

Where are the ears?

QUOTE(Stalvros @ Jun 13 2008, 11:50 PM)

I think it may be bacteria infection on the neuro system. I believe that is why she goes into seizure and paralysis. Dunno if antibiotics can help with this one.

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 14 2008, 12:35 AM)
Possible... but bacterial infections usually do not cause paralysis as far as I know... lets see what the vet says tomorrow.

Just checked on her, she's somehow moved the towel underneath her, perhaps she's more comfortable that way. At least her posture looks a little bit better now (as in more comfy).

I am very sorry to hear about this. I know exactly how you are feeling at the moment.

If only we have Oxbow Critical Care you need not to make the slurry yourself. but at times like this, anything should be given a try just to save a precious life.

Hoping and praying for the best for ProudFoot.

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 14 2008, 10:06 PM)
Yeah... at this stage its mainly making them comfortable until they go... sad.gif

Yup, I'm making a slurry out of crushed pellets, banana and oats, and also fresh veggies (she can still eat fresh veggies) but only her favourite vegs. Inject the slurry into her mouth from time to time to keep her nourished.

I'm in Penang right now, going back to KL tomorrow. I don't know if my next trip to Penang is gonna be in time for her...

Sorry to hear. But am sure she's playing happily with Unix & the rest of the family at Rainbow Bridge.

Take good care.

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Jun 15 2008, 12:52 AM)
Proudfoot just left.

She went peacefully.

We just buried her in her favourite spot.

Thanks all for the support and advice.

I'll miss Proudfoot terribly.

She brought so much joy to the family, with her antics and cheekiness. She was an expressive rabbit, always doing the binky when she was happy, digging my garden up, sneaking into the house to run away with a fresh veggie from the kitchen and always sitting next to her best friend Sprinkles in the garden, playing together, chasing each other, grooming each other, rubbing each other's nose and all. She was my friend when I was sick and depressed and she knew how to comfort me when I'm down, and play when I'm happy, she knew me.

I guess in a way... her suffering wasn't for long.

sad.gif

Bye, Proudfoot.

It was a good 8 years.

Your vet is rabbit savvy. Probiotics is good particularly the one by the name of BENEBAC. It is a gel like probiotics that can be given to the rabbit. I normally swipe a little on baby rabbits' mouth. They will freak out at first but soon lap em up.

probiotics basically helps with striking a balance in the stomach between good and bad bacteria.

Hope she stop those excessive cecal soon. Through my research, it is quite common for rabbits that has left their mums too early to have this problem. Normally between 6 to 8 weeks the baby rabbit will eat the cecal from their mums. And for those separated from their mums earlier, this phase of their lives are taken away. So, they find it a little difficult to strike a balance in the stomach on their own.

i've stop the papaya tablet once but still the same.seems no change..i just start giving back the tablet 2 weeks ago...is it my rabbit have GIT problem? or i need to start giving him timothy hay...can u suggest me any type of timothy hay should i give? i've been to vet once for this problem...the doc told me that its normal and vet gave me medicine name "probiotic" for the digestive..but the soft stool still the same...so i thought its normal...

i am no vet but experience tells me benebac is the trusted probiotics for rabbit. bear in mind ur rabbit is still quite young, so give just a drop or 2 is enough. if need be increase over time.

QUOTE(jaanu1128 @ Jun 15 2008, 10:43 PM)
the vet gave mu probiotic in tablet form (like human tablet)...i need to open the tablet cover and dilute in glucose that provided and give to rabbit using syringe...

yeah i have read also too early separate from mother can also cause the prob from this website...

http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

do i need to fine BENEBAC to give to him?

I believe Bambi feels threatened, that's why he stomp. That's a normal behavior for rabbits to tell others that danger is near. Make sure you take this seriously because it is stressful for her and if the "threat" comes near, she may get shocked.

QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jun 16 2008, 09:34 AM)
i don't feed bambi papaya pellets, are they important ah? i do give her some fruits for treats once in a while though. anyway she runs around the garden eating anything she feels like eating so that's like hay to her.

oh yeah i got one thing to ask.. i brought bambi's cage into my room last night cause it was very hot outside, it's the 2nd time i brought her in. the first time i put her by the patio door, she saw a cat and started stomping, so i thought that would be normal.
Stomping — He's frightened, mad or trying to tell you that there's danger (in his opinion)
then last night i put her against the wall, away from the door and for no reason she started stomping again at about 2.30am for half an hour.. any idea why? takkan she was frightened or mad or there was any danger? or was she just trying to wake me up to get my attention?

I think giving ice cubes is just temporary measure. Don't you have a place which is shaded well? or better have a fan to help circulate the air?

QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jun 16 2008, 11:55 AM)
yeah i tried looking outside but there wasn't anything around. if i leave her in the living room then she won't make any noise (probably cause she can't see anything since there's only walls around her). but we were afraid that it was too hot for her so thinking of giving her ice cubes if she's hot.

Hi Pancho,

YES, your rabbits can live indoors. Most of my rabbits are kept indoors and they do not stink because I use litter tray and good litter materials i.e. Woody Pet for them. Woody Pet works very well in absorbing all the urine. It keeps the place dry and clean.

Diet can help with the odor too. If the diet is good, then they may not smell as bad.

One of the reason why people do not keep rabbits is because they claim that they are smelly, that's just because they do not have good litter management. To quit keeping rabbits as pets just because of the smell is not a good justification. More research should be done instead.

You should visit The House Rabbit Society website. They have their rabbits running around in the apartment. No issues of smell at all.

QUOTE(pancho @ Jun 17 2008, 09:09 AM)
U put the cage in the house?
doesnt it make ur house smell really bad?

I put my cage outside my house, and the smell still get into my house that make my dad get angry...

Hey people,

Thanks for all that made this happen. It is so sad to have this little girl thinking that I ask people to spam her BLOG.

Totally uncalled for. Well, just want to thank all those firm believer in being good rabbit owners and have left so much nasty comment until she removed her chat box. I believe all of you have done it not because of ME but you guys believed in sincerity and truly know what is wrong and right.

It is very obvious that I DID NOT ask for any "reinforcements" which this little girl failed to see and I have to admit, I did not bother to place any comments on her chat box. What I did was just commenting on her blog which she removed it in attempt to clear her name. I seriously have better things to do then to waste my time on a 20 year old kid that has no manners.

Here's another link for everyone to ENJOY:

http://juzanniess.blogspot.com/2008/06/chatbox-removed.html

P.S.: I seriously do not know why she wants my phone number so badly coz I do not even want to be associated with her. LOL....

I am having to deal with a stubborn person. She has since started or should I say, maybe her associates has started to spam my blogs with comments too. Saying that God knows I spam her blog and crap like that. My goodness. As if I am so darn free to go even read her every blog posting that has got all the FOUL languages that many of my reader found disturbing. My GAWD!!!! can someone save me from this type of people.....It is totally bullshit.

I tried very hard not to bring this topic back into the thread but just wish that this will come to an end. And to share with others what is the impact of asking someone to remove your photos from their blog. The funny thing is, those photos are rightfully mine, and how the table has been turned around and the blame is on me now.

REALLY AMAZING man....

Yes, you are right kenji_britney, HL is considered a DWARF breed and at the same time is the smallest of the lop breed.

QUOTE(kenji_britney @ Jun 18 2008, 12:20 PM)
angora is a bigger breed than HL if i'm not mistaken, of course it'll grow faster lol.
