i think if the baby already have fur, eyes opened, maybe can touch..
but if you afraid mommy will eat the baby, can wait a little bit smile.gif

1> it depends how familiar de mother hammy is with u.. when u put ur hand near the nest, does the mum try to bite u or nervous? for me, i even touched my 4 days old baby WW before, n de mum still accepts the baby.. make many precautions, like getting rid of food smell or any other distinctive smell from ur hand, and rub ur hand on the bedding before handling.. actually as long as got fur, can de la..

ok! smile.gif the mother hammy is fine with me. very friendly.

No, please keep your room temperature above 18 celcius or they may hibernate, which is dangerous for hamsters in our climate as they do not have enough fat storage and will literally starve while hibernating.

take your time...
if you know your hamster is not tamed.. dont pick them or try to take them out..
let your hamster familiarize with your scent first..
take your time.. dont force them to be tame..

Hey guys... I have been wondering about the sand bath + litter issues. Don't mind my silly questions and here goes...

I would love to potty train my ham. So I should put the fresh pee & poo in the litter box, right? Meanwhile, the sand bath thingy should put in the litter box too? Or two different places for sand bath & litter?

Hope you guys understand what I'm trying to ask, heh!

Sand bath is for hamsters to bathe in, litter sand is for them to pee and poo in. So you shouldn't put them together unless you want a smelly hamster.

Put the sand bath in a round sturdy bowl. The litter sand goes into the litter box. Sometimes hamsters cannot distinguish between the two. So a hamster that uses the litter box may mistake the bath sand as a different kind of litter sand instead.
