Hmmm... I noticed something interesting today. I got a belt pouch for my N82. Each time I take out my phone from the pouch, the screen show as if it entered camera mode and back to standby mode.

I did some test and noticed that the magnet causes the camera to switch on (@_@)

I put the back of my phone with the camera cover to one of the magnets (which is near the camera cover when the phone is in the pouch) and viola, camera interface activated, and as I keep the phone there, I can even take shots (which are black because the cover is closed). When I put the phone 1 inch away, it goes back into standby mode.

I then tested by putting the phone in the pouch and just do some light shakes (the pouch is slightly thicker then the phone) and the camera activates and closes and activates and closes, sometimes the forward camera activates (@_@)

So something at the cover mechanism is reacting to the magnet on the pouch. Anyone else experience this? I got the pouch from Novacell.
*
hmm...what abt changing the pouch to the tear one?? like the Nokia CP-153 pouch..quality wise is quite good.. Highly recommended

Dont be too concern about the pricing, you got yourself a good investment. Tinker and play with it. I got mine for Rm1,888 Zitron with the Maxis Mobile Deal.

QUOTE(houyee @ Feb 13 2008, 07:23 PM)
Does anybody know anything about this mymaxis deal of RM1688 for N82? Apparently bloody maxis locked the left soft-key to "mymaxis" which is some suckass wap portal. anybody knows how to remove this?

plus there is an acute "shortage" of N82 in low yat and sg wang all the low life dealers jacked up the price to "RM2899" - that's a figure they pulled out of their ass.  mad.gif
*
whao!! RM2899 shocking.gif shocking.gif Even higher than the time N82 was launch? those shop really cutting throat..althot demand is really so high also no need suck blood until like tat gua... unsure.gif

QUOTE(icecarpediem @ Feb 14 2008, 04:47 PM)
yup, all-in-one and separate download for Garmin XT as well
*
I downloaded the V2.20 but its all separate files (few .img files) but dun have gmpsupp.img file. Is the one u download complete version without need to patch with new img file?

QUOTE(gzero @ Feb 14 2008, 05:19 PM)
probably the built in camera switch uses the magnetism mechanism to detect the opening and closing of the switch hence if you bring a magnet close the phone will mistaken it as you opening the shutter switch. just a guess
*
last time was using tat as well, but no more using it....better dun use for our N82 own good..laugh.gif

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Feb 14 2008, 07:26 PM)
Today, when my fren took a look at my N82, he returned it to me immediately with an ERROR on the screen and says it needs to be restarted - that was quite scary. Anyone encountered this problem before?
i guess is normal for Symbian phone to restart automatically, especially when you have lot of application installed..laugh.gif

just bought an AP set from lowyat..
rm1740
well, too bad got it slightly more expensive compare to all of you
did survey from sg wang till lowyat
all giving me rm 1.8-rm 1.9k omg
*
Wow. Price has gone up shocking.gif

But lucky u OnePageMemory. If u compare your price with others, for AP set its quite ok.

Enjoy your rediscovering of storytelling.

I guess for Ori, go for maxis. but how long is the contract? 12 month?

Added on February 14, 2008, 11:05 pmbtw, i asked CSL, they offer me RM2299, include a 4GB card
but they say they will give cheaper price if i really wanna buy, cos that one is the written price( u know AP shops always give lower then the price they actually show...haha )

If "GPS Data" use backlight setting for the phone i.e. 60sec.

For Garmin XT can set the light time in settings.

OK two big problems:

1. I am using GMXT with the 6 months ago map as provided in the guide. I realized that the map shows update slower than I drive and I wasnt even going fast, I was doing about 50 - 70kmh only. And if I took a different route than its shown on the GPS, it takes too long to even realized I took a different route and equally as long to re-calculate route. Do you face these problems with the 2.20 maps? Anyone would like to share their experience?

2. Playing with the camera-mode gave me another error message and told me to restart. After I restart, my relative set off fireworks tonight and I took the video of the 148 shots of fireworks. Just when it's about to finish, it showed another error and the video was not recorded successfully.

1. no problem with refresh rate on my n95 with GMXT v4.10.60 (map v1.5 till v2.2). for the wrong route, it normal for it to take some time to realized wrong route. there's some logic behind this. for recalculation, it depend on complexity and route database (just my guess blush.gif ). on my phone, normally recalculation take 3-8sec, 5sec average.

2. shocking.gif u meant u take the video and nothin recorded, only error message? that's bad. only encounter that on my old 6600. how long is the recording? ur memory card speed?

I used the original memory card provided. I doubt it's the card speed. I've seen other users reporting the same error I have on other forums. I am using GMXT 4.10.60 and map v2.15. Sheesh... Maybe gonna reset my phone later.

Added on February 15, 2008, 9:15 amLooks like I need to wait for the US version of the firmware cause right now the latest firmware is only released in EU.

Changes / Improvesment made from firmware 10.0.046 to version 11.0.117:
* Camera application:
o Improvements of 'Unexpected error...' probability when starting up with quick succession of camera lens cover open/close
* Music player (Music player stability):
o Fix for music player freeze when operating app from accessory remote controller e.g. BT headsets, AD-54 etc.
* Map application:
o Reset fix when opening Map app from landmark app
o Long Map app closing time
o Address search in Chinese character

"Yea, Maxis doesnt lock the right key. Its just that I'm not willing to go through all the steps you provided above for someone who doesnt even bother exploring his phone (the other guy complaining above). I realized it went away when I soft-reset my phone so I posted that workaround for him."

That is not soft-reset, thats will restored the phone back to factory setting and by doing this you can potentially kill an installed app. in your phone, not recommended.
Changing the shortcuts is the proper way to customize it to your needs.

Why need to wait?

Most of us have version 11.0.117. Just use ur Nokia Software updater. can update.
