Guys, a fast question... got a screenshot here. Which one is the dividend?
Say to calculate it;- 1000shares * Par Value * Dividend = ?
user posted image
Earning per share(Sen) or Dividend(Sen)?
Confuse.

Thanks in advance!

They already calculate for you liao.
1,000 share *130 cents = RM1,300.

By first sight, think that's wrong...
Share price should be 14.9*27.92c=416c=RM4.16
Dividend should be 0.31*RM4.16=RM1.28 (close to RM1.30, so the RM1.30 should be correct)

What company have NAV of RM1.5695 distribute out RM1.30 as dividend? They want to close shop liao?

Oh LOL. So I just straight away multiply shares with dividend(sen) column.
Thanks alot! Very new with this dividend thing.

Added on March 4, 2010, 5:09 pmAnother quick question.

When a stock is at *C status, I can straight away buy the shares and can straight away sell it back when the stock is at *X status, correct?

Which normally the holding time will be about 3-4days, correct?

Only for the purpose of getting dividend.

Thanks!

not worthy for doing so, as share price would be adjusted back after the ex-date.

if your intention is to buy for long term & enjoy the decen dividend annually, best is buy after ex-date, then start to accumulate from there.

Agree... even worse if that's imputation tax system, all the tax also included into the deduction... even you pay no tax also need to wait to claim back the money...

So lets say I want to get CCB(which now in C status) and enjoy its dividen; I just wait until after the X-date, and then buy the shares?
How long should I hold it? Until the next X-date? Or the whole year?

Sorry very new here.
And thanks!

Yesterday and Today Sin Chew Jit Poh have articles on high dividend stocks that giving > RM1.00 and also listed out all company that giving dividend yield from 8% to 194%

I believe that the only way to categorize a good high dividend stocks, it must meet below criterias

1. Dividend must be sustain or growth every year.

2. Dividend must be paid by company consistently for the past 10 years, 15 years or more.

3. Dividend paid out must be coming from the profits from core business. Not coming from selling of others assets.

4. Dividend paid out must not be coming from debts or loans.

5. Dividend yield at least 2 folds of current FD rate.

..................... Thus with above criterias, i wonder what the good counters are............

CCB ex date still far away, it is on 26 May '10.

If you plan to buy after ex, you can buy on 26 May '10 on that day itself.

By the way, good pick, I just fished my CCB few days ago at 4.06 tongue.gif I'm keeping my CCB, hopefully history would repeat itself, it is giving more than a dollar special divvy in Q3. Good luck to you, too.

If I'm not mistaken, the NTA drop from RM4 to RM1.x now, so unlikely they can give >RM1 special divvy.

Yes, you are right.

Seriously no one looks at the reserves or retained profit they have, in order to give special dividends year in year out.

To me this co is downsizing quite a lot . Reserve drops to mere rm 33m, a big part generated from Other Incomes and Gain from disposal of property ( totaling 70% ) and EPS is at best 28sen ? previously 46sen. Operating profit is about rm 9m a year from 500m turnover.

Bank bal is low at 28m

Where is the rm One dividend to come from ?

"Too high a hope may result greater disappointments " in the future.

Good luck to all.

And plse correct me if I am wrong.

Alrite another noob question from me. wink.gif

I've checked the "Entitlements by Ex-date" at Bursa website. Want to clarify, for those future Ex-Dates, can I still buy now to get the dividend?

For example;- Amway - 4th Interim Single Tier Dividend 7.0 Sen 10/03/2010

Example only. No intention to buy Amway or any stock at the moment. Need to prepare myself before "fly over".

Thanks!

You are welcome.

If market price factored in a high expectation of future dividends of 50sen a year, it is quite worrying.

And Special Dividends came from selling off of some profitable businesses ( or ceasing of a profitable business in Year 2008 ). Sorry, too lazy to go into details. They have distributed a big part of dividends through Reserve built up over the years.

By the way , the car market is picking up. Just do not know the net profit margin now ( last year less than 2% on average i.e 9/500 ). Just wandering why it is low for a lucrative business hmm.gif Too lazy to find out unless I want to buy this stock.

Take care and do more homework.

jz to add some info about CCB...

they could afford to give dividend of > RM1 in past 2 years mainly due to premium of RM18million received from investment in mercedes-benz malaysia (MBM).
their core business is really not profitable, they have been receiving net dividend income of RM11million/annum from MBM which is valid until dec 2012.
after tat the net dividend amount might be reviewed (or terminated?)

hence like wat u have said earlier, it is very unlikely to maintain dividend at > rm1.++, probably only get 5 sen of dividend
