No need worry....no use if they take it

QUOTE(ychwang @ Jan 15 2008, 07:44 PM)
nope, my Amex always show full including exp date.
I had seen b4 at that petrol station,
*
Amex yes, it will show because its not considered "credit card" although Maybank Amex Credit Card is called "credit card"
If u dont understand its ok, its technical stuffs but just know that it does show full details (except the CVV ofcourse).

back at home, i got the letter from Citibank. it's a citibank gold card...  sweat.gif

They should know how to use it..If u really want, u can complaint to their management about the cashier attitude.

QUOTE(ychwang @ Jan 15 2008, 11:17 PM)
but it depend on the merchant machine isnt it?
Because when i bought thing from Watson which use Amex Terminal, it does show full number when i use Visa, but i pay via Amex it will hide the number in the receipt.

Why u said take it also no use?
*
Hmm are u sure it show full card number when u use Visa and hide number when using Amex?

Do u still have the receipt?
Tell me the TID or the shop name printed on the receipt and i will check out something.
U can PM me for that.

The receipt printed has absolutely no use if other ppl gets it..
Becoz they cant use the information on the receipt, becoz 3-digit (CVV) number are required when doing online purchase.
Maybe some NBTD might want to try different combination? yeah rite its 3-digit means atleast errm 999 combination?
Bank will be alerted if someone really do that..

I plan to buy things from overseas and sell locally. I come to learn that when I got fraud using credit cards I can file a case and get a chargeback thus getting the full amount back. I'm not sure if that is how it works in Malaysia or not but it's definitely working in the US.
Yes you may get charged back but alot investigation will be made b4 that

1. Can I apply for a card? If not, how about supplementary card from my parents? If no again, do recommend me other method to get a Credit Card
Well its stated 21 years old, but 18 for supplementary (if not mistaken). You can get prepaid/debit card but i strongly not advise anyone to go prepaid/debit card.

2. Usually what kind of fees are imposed onto a card? Annual Fee, Monthly balance fee, erm ... what else ?
doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
Usually, that's all..But some also charge like RM10-RM20 processing fee for ezypay/installment scheme. (i believe Maybank no such thing)

3. Say I'm using a Credit card and I pay all my balance before the grace period(I read around it's usually 20 days). Am I charged anything extra?
No problem about that...

4. How does the chargeback method works in Malaysia? (In US it's, when I noticed I got fraud today, I file complaint to the bank, then I get the full amount back and in the same time the bank investigates the complaint)
Its the same, but usually u wont know when fraud happens but its the bank that knows and contact u.

5. I heard HSBC and Citibank are the best so far. How do they differ actually from company to company??
Thats just rumours and im very good with Maybank becoz i their internet banking is good.
Payment just using internet and pc...but u have to go to hsbc or citibank branch to pay for that.

6. How does APR(Annual Percentage Rate) works ? I read around, i think it's something like ... say a Credit card has 18% APR. But it's chopped into 12 months and charges you about 18/12% every month over your balance. Is that correct? Need confirmation smile.gif
I sux at calculation, yea its like that...and the rate is reduced to 15%

7. Why is everybody so crazy over the cashback/credit service offered by some of the credit cards? I'm not sure but are they real ??
I never know how to use Citibank Cash Back...But now using UOB One Card atleast i know how to redeem the cash.
Its almost same with award point cards, just that u get cash rebate instead of points to redeem gifts.

Well I look up most of my information on types of credit cards at moneysection.com but I'm still unsure in certain areas. Hope you pros can help out smile.gif
Like?

I'm planning to get a credit card soon, but I dont know which bank to choose from. The main reason I'm applying for a CC is because of the 0% interest installment plan. This is my first time applying, hope you guys can give me some advice. Thanks!  notworthy.gif

I would suggest Maybank becoz that is the widest range of installment plan available...

But its better if u get it from the same bank that u have a savings account there..
Atleast repayment are easier.

Hmm so CIMB offer 0.5% rebate on retail but do they get any points?
If not, so its also same like maybankard treatpoints....
Just different kind of points

Im going to get CIMB too since its free for life...

QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Jan 30 2008, 04:22 PM)
hey, after the 31st July 2008 promotion period...are they still gonna give points for using the card at Petronas?

About that, after promotion date then wont have anymore loh unless they extend it.

Like i said above, if they only give 0.5% rebate and no points then its the same like maybank get points but no rebate..
The value is same just different is one get point to exchange gift and one get cash rebate.

QUOTE(g00glesYYl @ Jan 30 2008, 04:26 PM)
i think the 2% rebate is very good deal. since it is regardless of the carry forward balance.

Maybank need me to do the redemption.

*
UOB also 2% lar...wait was it 5%?
GSC is 2% if not mistaken....BHP is 5%

I believe this Maybank card is a new technology..
It is PAYPASS + Visa WAVE = PayWave
Meaning in future either paypass or visawave machine can accept both card..

Dont tell anyone i leak out this info tongue.gif the software is still under coding now

Added on January 30, 2008, 4:38 pmLMAO now i get it...
CIMB 2% rebate is a scam

http://www.cimbbank.com.my/index.php?ch=su...7&tpt=cimb_bank
CODE
* Rebate is subject to a maximum spending of RM2,500 at PETRONAS service stations or rebate of RM50 per card per month.

Uhm anyone understand that clause?
Ahh so i get it now....the rebate only u can get maximum of RM50/month..
RM50 rebate means 2% of RM2,500 rite?

aduh.  doh.gif  can not be!!!

if you need the terminal to be accept both vasa&mastercard, the terminal should be the one to be customized. Not the card.
*
Hmm good point....im not sure, but maybe paypass didnt want to develop the new software so Maybank had to develop on their card?

But anyway, its true in future all VisaWave terminal will able to accept Paypass too (this is sure coz my company is the only official VisaWave vendor in Malaysia)

I think Visa Paywave is going to work in Visa Wave and Mastercard Paypass EMV.
More information on Visa payWave:

Yup..

Oh now my brain is getting straight...
For VisaWave to work in Paypass terminal, the card must have something to communicate with the terminal..
So does Paypass card to work in VisaWave terminal...
So the point is not only the terminal must have new software but the card too...

Soon u will see Mastercard with "PayWave" too

One card is either VISA (visawave) or MASTERCARD (paypass). Can not having the two account link inside one card. However, in theory, it can be done but not in business point of view, unless visa brought over mastercard lol

However, i agreed with you that in future all VisaWave terminal will able to accept Paypass too or the reverse way. this is the matter of time.
*
doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Its not about the account, its about communication..

VisaWave and Paypass are just a form of communication between terminal and card.
It has nothing to do with account.
