If you can make a list of exchange rate, we can know which bank we should use to TT the fund and which bank to deposit USD check.

Hong Leong have local brokerage of min RM40 per trade (purchase and sales)

CIMB only charge once, RM20 on purchase, no local brokerage on sale, so CIMB is cheaper.

and one more thing, exchange rates
You are forced to change to RM whenever you sell, Hong Leong forex spread is the widest, so hong leong is the most expensive.

so many losses here and there, high brokerage, conversion loss on every trade.

For day trade, have to use discount brokerage.

wrong, for day trade, use US broker, not local. Local suck our money out.

D@mn, lost $9.90, wrongly set TTO. fark.

Clear your mind, all local brokers suck your blood. Forget them. No need to do any FOREX comparison, just a waste of your time to compute pennies.

* today just made another Foreign TT (Coz MYR hit high again). Save over $100 from last transfer.

I did say you have to use "discount brokerage" for day trades, MB Trading is an example of discount brokerage. Local brokers are all full service brokers except Clicks Trader flat RM 8.88 for local markets.

Anyway I think epalbee3 wants to find the cheapest TT to Sogotrade?

sorry, didn't read that twice.

cheapest is to use Demand Draft smile.gif

CIMB : 3.4930
HSBC: 3.4971 (rate at 4pm) - rate fluctuate. Cable RM25.
MAYBANK :3.4970

Expensive:
Hong Leong : 3.5040
RHB: 3.4990
PUBLIC : 3.5030
AMBANK : 3.4980

Looks like CIMB/HBSC/MayBeng is good bet. Anyway, if just wanna exchange USD1,000 not much a difference.

CIMB : 3.4930 Cable? RM3,515
HSBC: 3.4971 (rate at 4pm) - rate fluctuate. Cable RM25. Total: 3522.1
MAYBANK :3.4970 / Cable? RM20 rite? Total: 3517

Tried MAYBANK - very slow, took over 1/2 day still nothing, Tried HSBC, faster, in few hours already effected. Haven't tested CIMB (all using ONLINE TT)

Hi to everybody!

I just opened a Sogotrade account about 2 weeks ago.

Transferring money by TT took one day to be reflected in my account.

I used CIMB TT. Charges was RM30 plus USD15-00 deducted at the US side.

Sogotrade is so far so good for me. I don't know whether I am going to get 100 free trades or not, but so far I bought 13 times with zero commission charge. Otherwise, it would have been just USD3-00 per trade. thumbup.gif

I read from comments in the web that Sogo's research and tools are too basic, but it does not matter to me. I usually use Yahoo finance and Google finance to check for more info on stocks that I track.

Welcome aboard!

Good deal.. as long you're able to execute trade in timely manner, that's important. nod.gif
Nice to know more and more people are stepping over to US side to play the market. laugh.gif

Sorry to offtopic ya, but figuring you all are into foreign exchanges, how to enter the hk stock market ? To me it seems more resilient, just as transparent and easier to monitor in the same time zone. Anyone dabbling there ?

Why HK?

You may trade JAPAN, UK, OZ markets as well. Anyway - I'm only for US market. Liquidity, Swing position etc.

You may post it here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1165453/+920 , perhaps some1 will answer as this is dedicated to US market smile.gif

That means we should use CIMB to do TT, when the check comes, we can bank in to Hong Leong Bank. wink.gif

LOL. you must be kidding me, right?

take today's rate for an example :

Selling TT/OD
CIMB : 3.5100
HONG LEONG : 3.5180

Buying OD (since its a cheque, not inward TT)

CIMB : 3.4320
HONG LEONG : 3.4220

Clearly CIMB rate is far better than the HLeong. How you come out with that conclusion? I'm lost here.

Long ETFC 330shares @ 1.89 last nite, TP 2.00

Wow... Just got off the chatting with one of the tech support for mbtrading.
Man are they quick and helpful.
Turns out my account is actually ready to be funded since the 14th i.e. the moment I e-mailed over the scanned docs. doh.gif

I suppose you get what you pay for.
Some of us would probably never need a live chat anyway so they're probably better off with sogotrade. smile.gif
