QUOTE(mysticark @ Dec 15 2007, 11:57 AM)
Yea I cant find the place to set the IP in VM
My setting for VM:

Bridged: connected directly to physical network
VMnet0: my network card

and I cant access internet.

But when I change to use VMnet1 and set NAT on it
I can actually connect to internet.
Finished entering all the commands for iptable and socat but stuck at logging into my realm.
I have double checked my realm IP with tcpview and command and everything but still Im stuck at "logging into game server"
I read in official forum that NAT should not be used but my VM can only access internet with VMnet1 NAT.
Now I'm in dilemma. Please enlighten me  notworthy.gif
*
from that description it seems that your router or ur network card isnt bridging the connection to the VM properly... you need to check if ur tcp ip settings is set to automatically grab IP from router, and if ur router is assigining ip properly

=edit=
also it seems ur problem is getting complicated, i suggest posting screenshots on every step/command ur doing etc, so we can troubleshoot for you easier

I don't remember where I read it, but apparently you can't bridge a connection if you're on wireless (like I am). Something to do with the wireless specifications saying you can't send signals from the same wireless card using a different MAC (but you can with regular wired cards).

Call me noob or what.

Do you apply Tcpackfrequency to the folder containing 192.168.1.100?
Is that what you call "machine IP"?

Does this trick works for Windows XP professional (5.1.2600)

based on some minor read up on the registry fix method, it should your machine ip.

you can also determine ur machine ip by typing ipconfig on the command prompt (start > run > cmd > enter)

or, via ur router DHCP menu

Yes.

Now i suspect its the soundcard which messes up latency.
I dunno how a soundcard affects a connection.
But it seems like everyone who using Realtek AC97 had issues with latency. (as reported in the technical forums)

Tried the -nosound command and still the same.
My youtube and other downloading stuff is perfectly smooth. Just wow.

unless theres driver bugs, its VERY unlikely for soundcard to mess up latency

what about ur router power forwarding all the WoW ports? especially 3724? and what about firewall? for example on the linux routing method, unless ur good at making firewall exceptions, it wont work if you have firewalls turned on.

Well, from what my friend told me last night he said it also has to do with the router make and model. I dun know how or what the problem is cos nobody really asked him further about it last night. Will try to get hold of him to find out exactly why it works for some and not others.

WARNING : before doing the following, please set system recovery point first.

to do that, go to START > accessories > system tools > system restore > create restore point

and....go!

I've had a discussion with my friend with all this DIY lowerping methods and he just pointed me this :

1.download
http://files.racs.com.au/_WOW/SetAckTick.vbs

2.run it

3.reboot PC

4. Enjoy lower wow ping

Worked for him he says, he's playing at 200-300ms ping constant.
Well I'm at work now, I'll try the script when I reach home, cheers.

that I noticed. The perfect solution for "DIY lowerping for dummies" don't you think? Sure as hell simpler than a Linux-rout.

basically telling me to read the thread again before posting anything again?

Posted on page 1 & 2 are the manual ways! The file provide a 'double-click finish' solution of the registry fix!
which was not posted yet. (the .vbs file, not the whole steps for registry fix)

And whether or not which solution is the best is all up to the users.

Configuring Linux(OR LUNIX)-rout is PITA to me who doesn't mind paying an extra Rm20 for lowerping(which still give the BEST results among all).

If the registry fix give the same result (or almost-same) then why should I use the memory-hogging VMware? Think of the lower-end coms for a moment. Not everyone has an extra 128MB RAM to allocate.

my bad, page 1 of WoW forums
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...271071466&sid=1
post 17

and on LYN forums:
page 4 post #76

just mixed up between wow/lyn forums.

there you go.

and you dont need to spare your own comp for the 128 mb ram, get a pentium 2-3 shit comp, that you can prolly salvage it from someone or just buy for under or around rm50-100? or even get donations of parts.

I wonder why some people are here against registry tweaks? Scared of the machine? O_O lolx. Overall, still the best solution would be to ( in order of sequence)

1. move to the US (Cost is hte main factor )

2. Use Linux OS ( More Knowledge needed compared to the Evil Windows )

3. Tweak your registry (doesn't work for everyone)

4. Use a Linux Box ($$ to get a junk pc or spare up some ram on ur present pc)

5. Subscribe to 3rd party Traffic Tunnelling and risk getting banned.

'nuff said.

i bliff its bcoz by doing so, it would affect your OVERALL internet surfing or downloading performance...in theory...

but for those that doesn't download much, like me, and still doesn't feel much differences in terms of internet surfing, like me, i'm still happy wif the registry tweaks.. icon_rolleyes.gif

and btw...not everyone keep a junk in his home...
i sold off my old pc last year to those recylcer collector or something like that...
and buying another one would be just a waste of money...when we can do it for FREE rclxm9.gif

and even so in the original WoW thread...ppl are still doing the it...

I'm running xp sp2 and did the registry add "TcpAckFrequency" and my latency went from 400-500 down below 100; back where I was before the patch.

I never knew something so simple would work so well. I'm glad we have players out there that know what they're doing and are willing to post about solutions to problems.
smile.gif

Anyway, Quaz, we know ur concern, but we shall all need only to remove back the registry hack once the new patch is implemented... nod.gif
