I think this thread should be stickied and a lot of the outdated stickies should be removed.

I wonder why some people are here against registry tweaks? Scared of the machine? O_O lolx. Overall, still the best solution would be to ( in order of sequence)

1. move to the US (Cost is hte main factor )

2. Use Linux OS ( More Knowledge needed compared to the Evil Windows )

3. Tweak your registry (doesn't work for everyone)

4. Use a Linux Box ($$ to get a junk pc or spare up some ram on ur present pc)

5. Subscribe to 3rd party Traffic Tunnelling and risk getting banned.

'nuff said.

reasons are mentioned previously. and personally, ive handles registries on a daily basis and have been playing around with regedit since the year 1997ish on my pentium pro 200mhz windows 95 pc. (later upgraded to windows 98se), not really a tough thing to do TBH, and even if its, the internet is filled with guides and how-to's.

i bliff its bcoz by doing so, it would affect your OVERALL internet surfing or downloading performance...in theory...

but for those that doesn't download much, like me, and still doesn't feel much differences in terms of internet surfing, like me, i'm still happy wif the registry tweaks..  icon_rolleyes.gif

and btw...not everyone keep a junk in his home...
i sold off my old pc last year to those recylcer collector or something like that...
and buying another one would be just a waste of money...when we can do it for FREE  rclxm9.gif

and even so in the original WoW thread...ppl are still doing the it...
smile.gif

Anyway, Quaz, we know ur concern, but we shall all need only to remove back the registry hack once the new patch is implemented... nod.gif

if your pc can end up to some recycler collector or something, its certainly not hard to find another junk pc, provided ur going for that method anyways. what the linux VM really needs is a dual core processor, and thats what almost everyone is running on nowdays. RAM wise, people are usually running 1gb and thats good enough. unless you run on 512mb pc's then dont even say VM, your WoW would also take a toll on performance.

and no, im not really concerned about anything, just providing free and accurate information. taking it or not does not concern me. just like how you guys can remove the registry, its not hard to NOT run the VM at all (dur!) or even uninstalling it. but ill still be running it on/off after patch to see if it still makes a difference. as i have huge doubts with blizz making a perfect latency fix. afterall, it took them 3+ years for it to happen.

the route isnt forwarded properly, either check from windows, or your feather linux. make SURE the console is running when you are using this/playing Wow

the data packets of your server is basically stuck in between ur pc and the linux VM

The fact that this fix WORKS means that all these years we were blaming TMnet, its not their fault that we suffer from bad pings.

Oh the irony of it all.

I'll be the first to apologize to them.

With VMware+Debian, i get 300-350ms (used to be >1k), any IP address i use, any time of day, rain or shine.

if anything, id go with blizz more than tmnut screamyx.

while this solves WoW, it doesnt solve my other website/downloads/torrents etc. heck im paying additional cash for VPN services just to get good torrent speeds thanks to their secretive torrent throttle. so no, tmnut screamyx continues to bear the blame.

yes it works. and if ur route is not properly done, you cant connect

you can type just route, and follow the ms dos commands to delete the previous route that you set, and re-set another route

ur dsl modem need to set it to router mode to have the connections routed (tmnut modems usually have crappy built in routers)

pure direct connection im not sure how it would work, but you'd have to change some settings in ur linux VM id assume.

feather included all the tools you need where else debian you need to manually download/install/configure the modules. for linux noobs such as myself, it would be a PITA XD
