QUOTE(intothefantasy @ Feb 29 2008, 08:18 PM) hmm i been wondering the 9800gx2 are like something 3870x2 is rite except each gpu core has its own pcb...for 3870x2 will automatically xfire once install...how abt 9800gx2? will it automatically SLIed once install? and will it be able to sli if fix it at a intel chipset mobo instead of a nforce mobo? actually those cards even though have dual cores and dual PCBs are not considered crossfire and SLI if they are on their own i.e. 1 unit....they may have dual cores etc but they are still a single card. u can only consider it as crossfire or SLI when it takes up 2 or more PCIe slots. |

just got myself 9600gt, is it that nvidia capped the core clock to 740mhz? Beyond 740 the comp will just blackout, and i saw something like nvidia made a chip to limit it beyond that. But just now when i am using the newer driver i can oc to 740 and run atitools artifact scanner for somewhile. But i found some funny prob with TF2, i clear everything and install the older driver which came with the card itself and the prob was gone. But now when i oc to 740, i open atitools, it gave me a blackout.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Feb 29 2008, 07:23 PM) I heard from cstkl1 said his 3870X2 ROG version can run dual monitor, but, it should b considered as a single card solution at the moment. Better let cstkl1 explains. But if anyone take the reference 3870X2, its confirmed to be operating in CF mode once everything is installed. I was with the distro yesterday when they tested it, the card is absolute magnificent. Just the heat and the noise factor to be considered. Now waiting for the ROG version to be available and tested. |

Better let cstkl1 explains. This seems out of place to be discussing ATI...but in reply to your message, with Catalyst 8.3, there is no need to disable Crossfire to enable multi-monitor under Windows Vista. At least that's what's been promised. Go: http://www.hothardware.com/Articles/ATI_Ca...FireX_and_More/But if anyone take the reference 3870X2, its confirmed to be operating in CF mode once everything is installed. QUOTE(Hothardware @ Paragraph 6, Page 1) Another interesting feature of the Catalyst v8.3 drivers brings added flexibility to multi-monitor users under Windows Vista. In the past, users were required to disable CrossFire to watch certain types of video or to utilize additional monitors. But with the Catalyst v8.3 release, that is no longer the case. With cards from the X1800 series on up to today's HD 3000 series, utilizing an extended desktop in a multi-monitor configuration does not require CrossFire to be disabled.
