It's not like they can just give the license. I mean you have to calculate, the only reason we are paying for expensive Nvidia motherboard is because of the R&D cost calculated. If they just give the license, who is going to uphold the cost of R&D on SLi technology ? Anyway Intel has the upperhand in the matter which is a bitz.

SLi is locked by the driver. There's nothing much SLi R&D going on the nvidia chipset itself.

if they simply give the license to intel for SLi...NVidia will definitely lose market share for mobo chipsets la. business strategy.

look at the crossfire tech....how many people run crossfire on ati chipsets as opposed to intel chipsets... (err...got ati chipset that can use crossfire right??)

if intel gets hold of the sli license then everyone (most likely myself included) would go for an intel chipset mobo already man.

although it benefits consumers like us....but once a single party is holds all the power... i wont be surprised if the benefits to end users starts to dwindle... business competition usually benefits end users more.

Ati chipset is pretty much dead by now. What nvidia can do, give up the Sli license, and allow SLi on both AMD and Intel platform, since they already loosing their own motherboard chipset market. Let the chipset business done by the cpu maker. Multi GPU is open for all platform. Life is much better that way. Unless, the news isn't true and intel will allow nvidia to produce CSI bus compatible chipset without any conditions.

If you are referring to R600. that's not AMD fault. The project started even before the acquisition by AMD.

ati merge with amd during the 26/29 series...
if not mistaken... while nvidia pawn ati during the 7series...
no offense but rite now ati kinda sucks

AMD completed the acqusition on october 2006. Ati 26/29 was introduced on 2007.
ATI is doing very well with their R5xx series, which rival alongside nvidia's 7 series.

If you actually have been reading the news, they have something similar under the hood, expect the release date next month.
