My mother in law had cancer stage 4, battle for 2 years before she passed away.

The treatment for first 18 months (medication) around rm2.4K/month which was shared between my wife and her 3 sister.

She had then sold one of her house, which the money was split between her and her husband, each got about rm180k.

She gave rm7.8k for each of her daugther, and rm3k each of the grandchild.

After that, when her condition worsen, she dont want to get treatment anymore. She transfer the remaining money to her 2nd daughter and said it’s shared between 3 daughters.

Now the remaining money park in bank for getting interest, however if there is an emergency anyone can use the money.

What cancer? My sister have stage 4 breast cancer. Taking medication. Roughly 3k per month.

my ma got cervical cancer, dad got colorectal cancer

both upcar ady

I was sole caretaker for my dad from diagnosis till death (9mths), treatment 97% at gleneagles jb 3% at HSI jb, total dmg ~rm120k

use private if got the $, service is fast n efficient, less stress 4 patient

gahmen hospital i really kenot lekomen, the rating i gip from bottom of my heart is oni 3/10

all STR recipients got sum kind of subsidy nao days i think, and certain private hospitals like beacon or sunway oso got their own subsidy programs but nid apply n qualify, subjected to certain types of cancers oni

alternative is sell haus sell car but sumtimes u really have to ask is it worth becos heartless as it may seem, sum cancers really oni prolonging the suffering

i went thru the entire gamut of emo rollercoaster ride so i think i shud know a bit better than most ppl who nvr went thru it b4

fyi i signed the DNR form

Not all cancer treatments are expensive. My mother remover her cancer cells in HUKM for a couple of thousand bucks only.

my dad diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer, spread to liver. Alive for 3+ more years lucky went to a budget private hospital(rafflesia) that has the same oncologist as expensive KPJ hospital in kota kinabalu (he rotating his days between these two hospitals), he's one of the best oncologist here. Treatment around 6k+ a month and a month or two off after each set of 5 months sessions. total spent probably around 200k including surgeries in those years. We used some newer type treatments after the older ones didn't work anymore, hair didn't even fall off and can live notmal life.

I normally accompany one of my parents to the chemo ward at one of the leading university hospital in Klang Valley..I have seen a lot of cancer patients at the ward and sometimes deep inside I feel sad for those patients and their families. The chemical really destroys your body ....I have seen patient who is in pain crying, begging the nurse to stop the infusion as she was in pain during the therapy process...I have also seen patient that told me their chemo medication is around 5K every 2 weeks, and hes lucky as its been paid by the govt....

first, what is the patient age?
if the patient is very old, chemotheraphy are likely to kill that patient(example is my mother, she had no more cancer but become so skinny, no energy and had kidney and pancreas destroyed,pneumonia that never recover(possibility of lymph node being destroyed), she succumb to it(funny thing is the doctor wrote the death note as breast cancer, not end-stage kidney disease (she passed out during dialysis and died) or pneumonia) or the most accurate cause, chemotherapy toxicity). if very rich can go for immunotherapy which will be hella way too expensive.
*
Immunotherapy how much and which hospital usually have?

### How the pain happens

* **During infusion:**

* Most chemo is **not immediately painful** in the vein. You may feel a **burning or stinging sensation** if the drug irritates the vein.
* Some people feel **cold, hot, or pressure sensations**.
* Sometimes nausea, chills, or dizziness can start **during the infusion**.

* **After infusion:**

* Many side effects come **hours to days later**:

* nausea, vomiting
* fatigue
* muscle or joint aches
* mouth sores
* hair loss

* **Severe pain cases:**

* Rarely, some chemo drugs cause **intense nerve pain or vein irritation**, which might make a patient cry or ask the nurse to stop.
* Nurses often **adjust the speed** of infusion, use painkillers, or change the vein to reduce this.

As cancer patient I just settle with gov hospital.

The treatment cost is not worth living on, and dying slightly earlier than everyone else is a better option.
The main game is you just don't want to die as a loser that didn't bother seeking treatment.

did you get it after kobis period 2020?

ya, second dis.

if surgery is an option, definitely take it. cut out the cancer n suppress the remnants with targetted chemotherapy.

iirc >75yo they will not operate, but if the patient is below dat age, definitely ask the oncologist about surgical option

My mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 colorectal cancer in Aug.
She is much older than 75.

She had laparoscopic surgery to remove her ascending colon.
No further treatment was advised. She has her colonoscopy appointment in 6 months though.

But yea la. If you weigh costs and benefits objectively without any emotion, then it is perhaps
not a financially sound decision to spend so much on an old bird... 😁

Delaying, Denying, and then Defending

Not sure. Discovery was after covid but since it's a chronic type (CLL) it could be way before.
